  • Join me as I hike Wainwright's Coast to Coast trail. This incredible walk starts at the Irish Sea at St Bees in the Lake District and goes all the way to the North Sea at Robin Hood's Bay in the North York Moors National Park. This video covers the entire walk through the Yorkshire Dales National Park starting at Shap and ending in Ingleby Cross.
    For more details on this trail I have made separate videos introducing it as well as sharing what gear I took with me which you can find links for below. I will be sharing the entire trail, as well as a guide to the trail, in upcoming videos so be sure to check those out when they become available.

    I was lucky to meet him back in the 80s in lakeland. I asked him for directions, and he recommended a guidebook, yep those books.

    Enjoyed watching the video. The Westmorland Dales are a relatively under visited part of Cumbria. They're absorption into the Yorkshire Dales National Park and also this stretch of the Coast-Coast probably gains them some attention but they remain quiet in comparison with the honey spots of Cumbria to the west.

    Mary, we were “on holiday” to Hawaii for two weeks and just returned home. Yours was the first video we watched (watching now) and the scenery is amazing. I had no idea GB had so much beautiful countryside. You really should receive compensation from the travel and tourism bureau! Love your music selections as well. So relaxing. Best to you both :-)

    Another outstanding effort on both sides of the camera. The high trail above the river with the stone ruins was spectacular. The Nine were really cool. Flora, fauna, fungi fantastically filmed frankly, for sure. Forgive me. Thanks, Tink!

    😁👍 morning Mary and Derek. Excellant video and insight to parts of the Yorkshire Dale's which I haven't visited in a long time. Enjoyed watching as usual and took on board points of interest.. Wondering what the North York Moors had in wait for you both, we shall see soon 😁

    So, when you have lunch on the trail, you really have lunch ON the trail. Lots of great scenery and varied environments in this section. I was going to ask what the difference is between "dales" and "moors," but I think I get it: The Dales seemed more like undulating green pastureland. The moors are wilder and more uncultivated. Both are really beautiful. And both seem to have lots of sheep. I think this Coast to Coast trail is the best way to see all of the variety of northern England.

    • @MarysOutdoorAdventures
      @MarysOutdoorAdventures  Před rokem +1

      You got that right John, no time to waste looking for a picnic spot 😆 The truth is when I get hungry and need to eat, I literally will stop anywhere. If I ever leave it to long I quickly suffer with symptoms similar to low blood sugar - shaking, dizziness etc. Not sure why I get like that as no blood tests have ever shown any problems?!
      That is the reason we really wanted to do this hike - to see such variety across the different areas, it didn't disappoint!

      @@MarysOutdoorAdventures I know from your videos that you are good about getting enough plant protein with the vegan diet (which must sometimes be a challenge). I'm just going to say that you are efficient about using up the complex carbs, and when you need more, you need more! I like and respect the fact that you always show your backpacking meals and try to share your strategies and meal ideas with us. I am edging towards a more plant-based diet (or at least non-meat) myself (maybe just a bit hesitant to take the plunge entirely). It's good to know you can succeed with what you have done!

    Mary You saw the size of the farms in MG / SP / RJ?
    I have already visited some farms in MG but much smaller than the ones I saw on CZcams. And some of them are the biggest coffee producers.
    I think I already told you Maria, here in Belo Horizonte sometimes the event is held at Expominas de gado, equinos. But I didn't see any dinosaurs 😝 kkkk 🐄 MÚUUUUU

    I've been following you since the PCT and your vids are inspiring and really great, thanks. That said... come on Derek! Camera shy or not, maybe you can interact more? That way it will feel like you are part of the experience rather than someone lurking in the background. Don't mean to offend...

    • @MarysOutdoorAdventures
      @MarysOutdoorAdventures  Před rokem

      So glad to hear you enjoy the videos Johny P. No offence taken about Derek not interacting. I am aware other CZcamsrs may get others more involved which obviously must suit them - however this channel is 'Mary's' adventures and what I focus on is the trail and my experience of it and never want to make anyone feel uncomfortable in front of the camera or pressure people to 'perform' when it's something I choose to do. When Derek does talk or is filmed it is when he want's to be in it which I totally respect. Hope that answers your query.
