    This was very helpful Toms. I kept seeing the "FE" and "E" titles on web pages but couldn't figure out what the difference was. You just helped me not only understand what these two represent, but saved me from just buying an "E lens" for the APS-C camera I'm going to be buying. Considering that I'd highly likely move to a full-frame camera in the near future to ramp up production value, I won't be making the mistake of buying an "E lens" for the APS-C, but an "FE lens" that can grow with me that I can use between the crop-sensor and full frame cameras. Thank you so much for this video!

    If You can do clarification? of How to buy a lens for DSLR and Mirror less.. sometimes people will buy mirror less
    lens for DSLR, Vice versa...
    Happy new year

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  Před 2 lety +1

      So all you have to do is look for the name of the mount. For example Canons DSLRs use EF-S mount for their lenses but their mirrorless cameras only accept EF-M mount. You can't take EF-M (mirrorless) lens and put it on EF-S (DSLR) camera. The only way you could do it I guess is to use adapters. But you will quickly run in few problems. They cost money, they add to the weight and size, AF might not be as good so just don't bother. Buy proper lens for a proper mount.

    I still never understood this. I have been searching for a good lens for the Sony A7iii, The Tamron 17-28, or 28-70 E mount never says FE on them. Are they made for full-frame cameras? every review mostly shows on the Sony A7 series of cameras, so confused here.

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  Před 3 lety +3

      Hey buddy, I get your confusion, but I can assure you that those 2 Tamron lenses are made for Sony Full Frame cameras like A7III (even though it doesnt say "FE"). Another way how you can find this is by looking at the focal length. 28-70mm is the "standard" focal length for the "standard" mid-range zoom lens (look at A7III kit lens, it has almost identical focal range). But for crop sensor cameras like Sony A6400 the kit lens is 16-50mm (because of the crop factor). So rest assured, these two Tamron lenses are perfect for your A7III :)

      So you definitely need to look for a full frame lens as it will fit both on your A7III and a6000. I would go for a standard zoom lens. Either Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 or Sigma 28-70 f2.8

      No wait, its the correct lens. That Tamron is a Full Frame lens and A7III is a full frame camera. The thing is that some third party manufacturers don't use "E" vs "FE" - they just refer to their lenses as "E-Mount" which is technically correct, but you need to read in their website description if its for Full Frame E-mount cameras or for APSC E-Mount cameras. Yours is for Full Frame, so its all good.
