Here in Australia its old and new Landcruiser’s are everywhere as it is the proven, reliable off-roader used in the city and out-back.
Land Rovers are generally for the business class and used for city and highway use.

    • @davidhuett3579
      @davidhuett3579 Před 2 lety +10

      Nonsense!
Here in the West Australian 'outback' I've been driving Discovery's for years .. first the Discovery 2 and now the Discovery 4. Both are very good 4x4's and BOTH are better than the Landcruisers in their default configurations.
Firstly, Landcruisers are a very good 4x4 .. when they are modified!!
Secondly, the Discovery's are head & shoulders above the Landcruisers for 'driveability'.
The reliability issue IS a factor with LR in that there are FAR MORE features in a LR than in a LC, therefore, it is only logical that there is MORE to go wrong. Also, the LC, which is the 'Holden' of 4x4s, has the benefit of a LOT more service centres than LR because there are a LOT more LC's sold.
If you ask LC owners WHY they bought a LC .. invariably they will tell you .. 'because everyone else has one'!! There are a LOT more LC's sold BECAUSE they are built and marketed as a 'fleet vehicle' and MOST of the mining operators buy thousands of them. The Discovery is a far more 'refined' vehicle and LR is renowned for it's vehicles capabilities ... just check out some of the old Camel Trophy rallies.
Toyota makes mini buses, fork lifts, communications gear or marine equipment and a number of other products.
Land Rover make 4x4's .. that it!!
If you own a LR you need to be more technically/mechanically minded because we DON'T have the service facilities on every street corner like Toyota does.
As far as service & parts costs go .. BOTH can be expensive to maintain .. however, the LR owner is more likely to do their own mechanical work (to a degree) and therefore their 4x4's can very often be cheaper to maintain in the long run.
Both the 200 Series LC V8 diesel (4.5L) and the Discovery 4 V6 diesel develop roughly the same torque when it comes to towing a reasonable sized van, ... the LC uses around 22-24L/100km doing it .. compared to the D4 at around 16.
I've driven both and both are very capable vehicles .. but I'd have a LR any day of the week .. and Sundays!!

And whishing LR "long live" when we KNOW it definitely will be outlived by the LC?? These two cars have been constructed to reach quite different aims, standards and customers. Real LR guys and real LC guys are aware of this, understand each other - and have made their final choise... But a real LR gentleman wouldn´t define the main construction concept in the LC as NOTHING!!

Just fake journalists, not fair !

    • @djorksolo8544

Megafriend USA they can't hide at the end that, the Land Cruiser was faster on the off road test ! And it was just a Prado with a 4cyl 3.0L. The Twin Turbo V8 with almost 700 NM would do it much faster and in more confortable ways than the range rover! In first test, it would be another story too ! Simply, in off road conditions, you see much more Land Cruiser than any range rover which won't bring you back home !

Most people here use it for city commute e.g. to pick and drop kids to the school school. In 5 year times a Range Rover price drops 70-80%.
