  • Filmed during the summer of 2023. This film brings the former Big Four Route in Ohio to life in the modern area, covering never before seen aspects of Lines, Depots, Towers & Towns along this historic railroad of the New York Central System. Some aspects being as old as 1915 and before! This is a upload of the failed DVD format of this series all remastered in MP4 format.

I had 2 great uncles, Allen and Guy Moore, who were locomotive engineers for "The Big Four" prior to the NYC takeover and then for the NYC.
Guy drove a freight from Cleveland, Ohio to the division point in Indiana where Allen took over and took the train on to St. Louis. I'm not sure where Uncle Guy picked up the train, but it had to be at the West 150th street yard, or at Collinwood yard and then traveled west over the "Belt Line". I grew up just north of the belt line just east of St Route 94 (state road). The "Belt Line" is called that because it boarders the south side of Cleveland. All freight passing through Cleveland on the NYC followed those tracks and still does.
I have a photo post card of them standing next to the locomotive, 2-8-0 #6688, cancel dated April, 30, 1907, at Mattoon, Ill. The card is now approaching 117 years old and is still in extremely good condition, and is one of my prize possessions. I also have Uncle Guy's watch (A Hamilton 992 with 2 hour hands). Can you guess why it has 2 hour hands? ;-)
