      Because in the past, there were elections to change the constitution (for the second time) while Chavez was still around. They lost so, in a way there was a chance these could yield similar results. However, this time it seems they actually managed to commit fraud.

      I don't think it's very likely but I don't think it's impossible. If Pope Francis would condemn Maduro strongly and if there are enough dissenting actors within the military and other institutions together with a unified and organized movement of the people I could see Maduro being forced out diplomatically without much bloodshed. Or we get another Lukashenko reign... which is probably more likely.

      They did not allow planes to take off or those which were in the air, were not allowed to land, with international delegates who were arriving to oversee the elections. But there were overseers welcomed from China, Russia….

    All the people that left venezuela made this happened and they are the one to blame, they didn't vote, I guess these venezuelans don't have any idea of how politics works, in presidential election, when a person do not go to vote, that vote it's automaticly added to the one on the chair in this case the president, they did not showed up to vote but I had a feeling he'd do whatever it takes to win the election, poor venezuelans I'm afraid more will pack up leave the country, wait and y'all see, another huge migration of those venezuela, I'd encourage them, to fight for their country, instead of leaving do not leave venezuela or nicolás maduro will feel he won and he is the emperor of venezuela, stay and fight for your rights and your country people of venezuela

      They have little oil infrastructure still remaining. Most is in complete disrepair and would need to be rebuilt from the ground up. They sell mostly to China which is why they keep it a small operation. If they ever rebuilt the US probably would get involved since that would give China a huge advantage.

      @@castlebound2010 it is probably because the country has a lot of oil, and when you have a dictator who does not provide humanitarian help for his own civilians they are gonna use that country as a proxy for oil, or to prevent usa getting the oil from venezuela by a democratic leader who they think it's a puppet, but that statement doesn't hold an accurate perception because just because you still have a dictator in power who has a lot of oil isn't gonna prevent you from the cia getting it, fact is it's just gonna make it worse just like what happened to Gadaffi or Saddam Hussein, best way is to not be a dictator, venezuela also doesn't have a very strong military so they could be a easy target
