    Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners' real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiasts. I contact each person who sends me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up on what happened after what we see on their video. Voice-over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
    From the footage and additional information, a viewer can learn the consequences of bad driving and can educate his/her self with better driving safety. This process also gives the videos a great educational value. It is my desire to add my own unique and creative value in a transformative way to ensure you enjoy and learn from the videos being presented.

      They replace the door to get the car back to the insured party quicker. The damaged door still has salvage value, and can be refurbished and resold after being taken off the car. The cost of repair does not equal the outflow of money from the insurance companies.
      When they total a car and cut a check for it’s value, they’re not just losing all that money. They go and auction the totaled car for its salvage value.

    11:54 In Germany this accident would be separated into 4 accidents:
    1.: Unit 1 crashing into unit 2
    2.: Unit 3 crashing into unit 1 (edit: maybe not, see discussion in the comments)
    3.: Unit 4 crashing into unit 3, 5 and pushing 3 into 1
    4.: Unit 6 crashing into unit 5
    The reason for this is that you always have to keep a safe distance where you come to a stop without crashing into the car in front of you.

    • @DimensionDynamics
      @DimensionDynamics Před 6 měsíci +13

      Is that right? So if I'm following a car at a safe distance depending on my speed, and that car crashes and comes to a complete stop, I'd need a huge following distance to be able to come to a full stop too, you can't expect every following distance to be in readiness of a complete stop/crash. At 60mph it would be about 75-100m, do you always leave 100m gap in front of you? Really silly if it does work that way in Germany.

    • @catman64k
      @catman64k Před 6 měsíci +21

      the minimum safety gap required by law is half the amount of speed (km/h) in meters. so if you're travelling 60mph this means you're travelling 96 km/h this means you have to keep a safety gap of at least 50 meters.

    Units 1, 3, 4, and 6 have some degree of fault. 1, 3, and 6 all failed to keep proper following distance, though I will take 6 with a grain of salt considering that we cannot directly see them in the video. I think the swerving semi speaks for itself, as they were in the other lane and should have probably been traveling at a slower speed, considering how big it is. 5 was just at the wrong place at the wrong time, being sandwiched between the semi and the barrier, and 2 was just following traffic.

    • @corl4147
      @corl4147 Před 6 měsíci +5

      @@shavenyak1 I disagree. The first contact was the Rav4 plowing into the lead car. A lawyer could argue that the Rav4 couldn't have stopped that quick using only brakes, so the POV Tesla following distance was adequate, and the collision between Tesla and Rav4 was a direct consequence of Rav4 causing an accident. So my point is, as long as the car you are following crashes first, you are not responsible for rear-ending it. This would make the semi liable for crashing into the Tesla&Acura (chnaged lanes), and also the Transit hit the Acura before the semi made contact, which makes the Transit responsible for their part of the wreck.

      If 2 objects are going the same speed. Then 1 object gets stopped immediately. The object behind it has no where to go but to hit it.

    3:11 this is Hwy 17 (runs north and south) that connects the San Jose area, or the south bay, to Santa Cruz. Scott's Valley (beautiful place) is before you drop down into Santa Cruz and Capitol and Hwy 1. It's often, for many many years, referred to as "blood alley" for the sheer number of fatalities it has had over the years. It got so bad at one point that they finally lowered the speed limit, and have a heavy California Highway Patrol or aka CHP presence on Hwy 17 both directions. The biggest issue with this Hwy is there are very few shoulder areas on it.... So when an accident happens it'll back traffic up for several miles, which makes getting first responders there a very difficult job..... It's also a high enough altitude to get snow....

Oh, sure the guard rail ends immediately after the spot where he swerved but, as it was, the trucker had no choice: whether he chose to stay in lane or to swerve, he'd have collected a pile of (s)crap metal anyway.
