Sinclair ZX Spectrum - How I Built My Own (and You Can Too)

- The Sinclair ZX Spectrum was the first computer I ever owned. It wasn't the best around, it didn't have great graphics, and the sound was awful. What it did have though was incredible support from developers who squeezed everything imaginable from this low cost computer that took the UK by storm. The result was some of the best games ever. Games that I still look forward to playing to this day. However, I get increasingly worried about how much longer my aging ZX Spectrum is likely to last, so in this video I'll show you what I did to create a machine that was as close to replicating the experience and fun of the original Sinclair ZX Spectrum, without resorting to paying the exorbitant prices of things like the ZX Spectrum Next.

Just wonderful video!
My first computer was a zx81. I used it day and night for more than 2 years. My spoiled friend had a ZX Spectrum. I was so jealous.
I have I Pi I my basement. So now I soon have that Spectrum (almost). ;)
Thanks for this helpful video.
My keyboard gets me as far as choosing a game, after which I see the message at the bottom of the screen that the game is loaded. However, activating the Speccy keyboard-mode doesn't work. Pressing J does nothing. Neither does CTRL+P.
Am using a Pi Zero W.
Hey boss, everything alright?
Great Video, I want to try and see if it's possible to get my Nvidea Shield to 'auto boot' into a ZX Spectrum emulator on startup, I can't seem to find a Raspbery pi for a good price here in Ireland :(
hey thanks for the video, it was really helpful -- now how exactly do I exit a game?
Normally you reset the ZX Spectrum or switch the power off and on again.
Later models after the rubber-keyed wonder had that reset switch.
Restarting the ZX Spectrum only takes seconds for the RAM check (IIRC).
@@seraphinberktold7087 ahh ok thank you! I'm brand new to the ZX Spectrum so I wasn't sure if there was a key to just get back to the games folder, but I see now that Alt+R resets the emulator/system -- good to know I'm not doing something stupid
Doing good?
