Stereotypical fat characters are so unfunny cause the joke is ALWAYS “they like food”. Personally I think it’s funnier when a skinny person like Shaggy craves food and cartoonishly packs it away. I’m not all that fat but my mom still tells me to loose weight even though I already eat nutritious foods like seeds and apples and I excercise every day. Fatphobes are honestly soooo annoying. Like they act so morally superior when really it’s none of their business if a plus sized person exists, they don’t know what that person eats or how they excercise so they should butt out. Great video!!

Honestly me too, Im gluttonous and have a similar body type to shaggy. So I’ve always find him relatable.
I’m someone who prefers plus size woman so I’m definitely upset how most media portrays fat characters as “lazy, ugly, gross or just eats a lot”.
I think the only plus size characters that don’t fall into thoses stereotypes are Elfuda, Leshawna, Mario, Debbie Hyman, Willow Park, and a couple of backgrounds characters in Hazbin Helluva (if anyone can name more examples)

Some of my favorite fat rep was in Gravity Falls. It's more casual, and does great to imply fat people just exist and are human beings.
Soos is a lovable part of the main cast and his weight isn't commented on much, however when they do mention it they have him outright say that being called large as an insult really hurt his feelings. He uses his body as an element in building clever contraptions and is openly comfortable in it.
Sheriff Blubs is used as a comedic fat character, but the framing is always pretty comical (eating pancakes with a speed checker), and when Uncle Stan DOES insult his weight other characters jump in to mitigate the situation cause that is a super mean thing!
Uncle Stan even calls himself fat, in a "where did the years go" way.
Gideon Glee and his dad are round in body shape. This isn't commented on much either, and I can only remember two times it happened in the series: Mabel pokes Gideon to imply he's a little large but soft, and he uncomfortably laughs and says "ow". The only other time I can think of was when he was gorging ice cream and snorts while being spoon-fed despite being 10-ish, which gives the impression his actions are the issue in the scene as he bosses his doting father around.
Edit: I can't believe I forgot Greta! She's also handled nicely; I don't think they even mention her being overweight, just having a deeper voice. Very relatable to those that grew up with puberty hitting us early or in a way that feels weird.

Amazingly said, Arteice! Shrek and Po will forever be goated! Not only have they saved their respective homes from evil on many occasions, but they also have family and friends who love them regardless of their size. It really goes to show why DreamWorks films are known for having some of the best subversive tropes in any form of media! As for Disney, as much as I appreciate their efforts in portraying nuanced approaches to health and wellness, they *did* take a step backward in recent history with Bluey. In the episode "Exercise", Bandit and Chili take turns standing on a scale and sigh at the weight that shows up. Many families interpreted this opening scene as a portrayal of body negativity and to be honest, I don't disagree with them. After all, we can't all be like Luffy and Goku! The average person doesn't train or get into fights as often as they do! Which goes back to your point of wellness not being a "one plan fits all" kind of topic. In reality, being overweight is just a combination of genetics, eating habits, and lifestyle changes. Not everything in contribution to weight is in our control. I wanna close this comment off by saying THANK YOU for representing us big girls! It means a lot 😽You get them bell peppers! 🫑🫑🫑

Second, there are a large array of overweight characters are mostly used in satire in the right way in adult animation. We all know the jokes about Cartman is fat but their was an episode that tackled on how people who are overweight can use photoshop to make them look thin when your just catfishes everyone.
Third, there’s also with thin characters. It’s a running joke on Archer that Cyril Figgis is always eating a candy bar.
Fourth, even on Kirby Right Back at Ya, there was an episode that DeDeDe kept eating chips that were meant to make Kirby fat, then he became fat and Kirby after eating the crumbs

@@ArteiceTBnot to mention their default deflection is always “but she wanted people to ‘FaLsE fLaG’ that guy’s video.” One, the reason they’re saying this is because of a post Illy made on her Tumblr about the guy that literally less than 1000 of her subscribers saw at most (bearing in mind she has over 2 MILLION subs), and two, it wouldn’t be false flagging, she heard all about what the video was, and as someone who has seen that garbage response to Illy’s video, it was not just “criticism.” It was legit harassment in every way, shape and form. They also keep insisting it’s a “false flagging campaign” because Illy “didn’t even watch the guy’s video.” Well, a) she doesn’t owe anyone her time or patience, and b) this is ironic given that the same people saying that didn’t even bother watching the initial video that she made, otherwise they would’ve known that the guy who responded to her edited out a crucial part of her video from his response to paint her as saying something that she very much didn’t.

While I'm not all for body "positivity" and rather body neutrality (some people get way to comfortable thinking being overweight is healthy especially if you don't have any major health issues that would affect your weight without a specific diet-) More of understanding your chubby/overweight but not caring rather than promoting it to others as being ideal which in reality it isn't (from many experiences I've studied), BUT also not pushing it so hard that it leads to an eating disorder (really have to avoid extremes here and sit in the middle ground) I'm glad you actually acknowledged the health and wellness part! Eating in moderation, exercise etc, AND acknowledge skinny self-image issues!
And as much as I feel iffy with the term fat phobia and would just say bullying I completely understand your point of portraying a group of people poorly or evil, I think the term was used properly here aswell ^^

and also Ben Stiller plays the over-the-top villain, that´s always a plus

An interesting more modern and non-Disney Health and Wellness episode is "The Case of the Lousy Lunch Orders" from the Netflix series "The Inbestigators", featuring a quartet of Australian fifth graders solving kid-sized mysteries. The plot is that the protagonists' school is attempting a healthy-eating challenge, with a new basketball stadium as the prize; the challenge entails eating a healthy lunch every day except Friday, when the students are not only allowed but encouraged to have some kind of treat meal. However, one fateful Friday, the lunch orders are sabotaged and everyone gets a healthy lunch instead of what they ordered. The lesson actually ends up being that healthy eating is something you cannot and should not force on people and that it's hard to maintain, especially for kids but trying is important and should be encouraged. There's even a running gag where one of the protagonists spends several shots ranting about his missing lunch, only to be told that ranting won't get his food and when he finally bites the bullet and eats his healthy lunch, he's quite pleased with it, even asking if anyone has extras he can have; this is NOT because the kid likes food (in fact, other episodes don't bat an eye at kids eating things like ice cream, cupcakes or other "junk" food unless they're plot-relevant and they're never plot-relevant in a "this is how healthy eating works" way) but rather because him being hangry was distracting and once he was no longer hangry, they could focus on the plot with the occasional joke about him discovering he liked the healthy food. It's obviously something that might read differently depending on the viewer but the episode doesn't paint anyone's food choices as wrong while making the point that policing other people's dietary choices is not your business.
A tactic I'd like to see that encourages the mindset of "eat what's healthy for YOUR body" that you mention and would fit VERY well in a sci-fi or fantasy story involves someone trying to pressure another character into a traditionally healthy diet only for it to backfire, either because they turn out to have some kind of allergy or other unpleasant medical reason for not eating something (like, say, it turns out that carrots make them act severely and dangerously drunk because their body processes carotins in a manner similar to how the human body process alcohol) or because one of the things they've been told to avoid is necessary for their body to function (for example, encouraging a character to cut out all sweets only for it to turn out that the "healthy" diet they're eating is depriving them of the vital nutrient of processed sugar). Technically "Futurama" did this with robots requiring beer to function correctly but I'd like to see it as a serious plot point rather than a running joke.

I always loved the Disney shows about health and body types. I also grew up chubby and suffered with ED for a while. It is still a battle to get in a good life style and vision about my body and what I eat.
What I like is that they all talked about a different aspect of eating habits. Moderation, healthy food, body acceptance, health complications. Over time, they were good reminders for me and many kids, who struggled with their body types
I do agree it would be great to get more fat character designs and characters that don't reduce them to jokes and mockery. But I will admit many of the examples you showed (especially the " bully" characters) i never saw as fat characters
Love that people are accepting all looks, but I fear many take to the other extreme. The idea that it isn't "bad foods" is one I disagree. Every food can be bad if you eat too much, but there are meals that eating even one time will be bad for your health (looking at you McDonald's)

I was admittedly apprehensive when I saw the thumbnail, but I came out of it pleasantly surprised.
You broke down on how genetics play a part, even if you're eating well and being active. You broke down on how moderation is key and that both working out and eating healthy go hand in hand with your weight loss journey and I respect that.
I do maybe one out of the two steps every day (and if I'm at my mom's place, I leave fatter than when I came in. Sorry, it's just the rule. Plus I like junk food.)
It reminds me of how traditional sumo are Japanese (who are usually skinny) and just eat a lot to get to that weight. They eat a lot of veggies and protein and they're still active.
Overall, this is the first video of yours that I watched that wasn't Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss related and I really liked it.
