Man, it's been so long since Spellslingers. This really scratches that itch. The cards are shown and explained for longer than 5 seconds, the hosts are entertaining, and there are very tense games. This is really great, keep it up.

It seems that the Bolas deck is just a little too powerful with the addition of the scheme cards. Nevertheless, your video was great to watch as always!
Its nicol bolas though. His theme should be control magic and removal tbh
Without the schemes, Bolas would stand no chance. So much of it comes down to luck of the draw.
We only saw two games. I'm sure they tested it extensively.

Adding the fact that the boss, probably knew all the decks well, designing it. He knows which deck has what threats and how to prepare for them.
Benjamin Hide us but even still most people are able to build their own scheme decks for Arch enemy. So we need to take that into account.
That's why you pimp the decks out with better cards....but then again the Nicol Bolas deck would have more powerful cards as well.
I hope Melissa DeTora makes a return on the show. Definitely my favorite guest so far.

Seems to me like the 3 decks really aren't balanced against the Bolas deck. I think this would probably be better, if the schemes were a tad less powerful.

Yeah, for the non Bolas edition of archenemy. The scheme deck here looks like it has a Grixis (or Bolas) theme, so this scheme deck might not work for literally any other deck. I would have much preferred an archenemy anthology. So now if we don't buy this set, we may never see archenemy again!
How is it grixis specific? Besides the one that adds mana, there's nothing grixis there
I did say it *looked* Grixis specific, but the other part of it too is that is it only a 20 card scheme deck? if it is then some of these cards are just not playable for other decks.
These schemes are pretty weak compared to the older arch-enemy schemes. The reason Bolas is so powerful is because they loaded the allies decks with vanilla draft chaff. I know it's meant to be tough but is semi playable creatures too much to ask for?

Anyone else think the Bolas deck is over powered; too much removal and card advantage compared to the other decks. First game he got great schemes pulls and it wasn't even close. The second she got bad schemes for the first couple and the allies had decent starts.... however they still got overwhelmed and blown out of the water by mid game.
Yeah, they never got to attack him once in either game. Too much removal was the killer. Still, it'd be fun to build your own decks and use the schemes!
yup every time the other players seem to start to get the advantage the schemes wreck them
You can tell that it was designed to be a steep uphill battle. Not going to lie, Archenemy was far better than Archenemy:NB is. Archenemy had great balancing and tons of schemes; Archenemy:NB has neither.
Yeah, I just posted a comment earlier about how I fear for the future of archenemy as a whole. The scheme deck doesn't look like its very adaptive for a non-Grixis deck, meaning the scheme deck needs to have more non color specific cards, meaning the scheme deck needs to be 20 cards without the Grixis color specification or the scheme deck is unplayable. I would have much rather had an anthology for archenemy than this. So now if this archenemy series is a flop no more archenemy. Its dumb if I must say.
It's not that Bolas is overpowered; it's that the other three decks are really quite bad.

I've been addicted to watching all of your game knights games the last couple of weeks since I found y'all.
I came up with an Archenemy/Sidekick game scenario like 8 years ago. It's pretty fun.
And, just like that, with this upload, I knew that today was going to be a good day!
I dont play magic but this was intense and fun to watch. Also zooming the cards when casted it was helped to understand whats going on it was great.

I just came across these videos a few days ago and I've pretty much been binging since. Awesome work! I don't play anymore, stopped around Mercadian Masques I think, so I started watching because of nostalgia. Now, I'm hooked. Thank you for the hours and hours of great smiles and laughs.

This show is amazing and has given me that little bit more insight into MTG that made me go to the gamestore. Really awesome. Better than the actual official tournaments videos you can find on YT. Everything is explained so well and in a fun way.

This was my first time watching a Game Knights video... it will NOT be the last! Seriously, I am trying to find the right words to describe how amazing I found the editing and the personalities , and I am falling short. Probably the best thing I can find to say is that if this was a weekly show on television, I would make sure to find time to watch or at the very least DVR it. You guys have set the bar for game play videos, and it is waaaaaay up there.
Jimmy, Josh, You guys do an amazing job. Every video I'm glued to the screen with out switching or flipping through vids and coming back to continue, which is hard to do too me haha. Love learning new cards and seeing decks in action and the breakdown you do for us casuals is beyond helpful and enjoyable. Keep this up, the fan base is just going to grow, and grow!
I've never used patreon before but you guys have such a fun environment and are so professional throughout your videos, so I'll figure out how to donate and do so!

I love the collaboration of Archenemy and 2HG! I think Commander and those two formats are my favorites. They can be played for fun and with many players at once. Just so much fun.
Yet again, another awesome episode of Game Knights! Thank you guys for all that you do and all the content that you put up! Obviously, Game Knights is your guys' most popular videos, but personally, I have to say that the episodes that you talk about how to go about building a successful EDH deck, mana curve, and best cards in specific colors are my favorite! They have helped out so much and thanks to you guys, I never have a problem building commander decks anymore (besides deciding what awesomeness to include after all draw spells, mana ramp, target removal, and board wipes). Honestly, when I first started playing EDH, it always seemed like such a daunting task building a deck from scratch, but now since I've subscribed to your channel, I find it infinitely enjoyable building commander decks! It's probably one of my most favorite things about the format now! You guys are too awesome! And nice to see Mel on the show again! Keep up the great work! Can't wait till next episode! Maybe when Hour of Devastation comes out??? Can't wait to see what awesome legendaries we get from that set!

Sun titan is great, dont get me wrong, but Those who serves? Sparing mummy?!? it seems like they wanted to push some standard legal cards that are so uneffective when you play against an Archenemy. my point is that they tried to push recent cards in that archenemy that are very oddly placed there, they doesnt fit if you try to kill a big bad guy. plug coop cards, like surge, or cards that take care of big fatties, not vanilla 2/4 for 3!
While I understand why they chose to avoid good 1 for 1's or card advantage in the team decks as if they were too controlling they'd naturally out value Bolas, but you can't give them decks filled with awful creatures and worse spells. Nissa's deck is designed getting a lot of mana (which means she gets killed first all the time) but lacks any good creatures early, Gideon's deck is actually fine as a white weeny go wide strategy, and most of Chandra's creatures are built around a sustained board state (which as we saw here doesn't really happen).
We saw the Bolas deck out aggro them, out midrange them and out card advantage them. The only weakness the Bolas deck should have is that it loses to opponents that can go wide enough, but Bolas's deck has a lot of cards to minimize that.
Diana Jones the schemes counter all the weaknesses the bolas deck has, whether it's board state, card advantage, mana or creature advantage

With the NB: archenemy deck or regular archenemy? The Professor would probably borrow his collection to Josh and Jimmy for a session. The Bolas scheme deck is a whole new can of worms, It looks like its Grixis specific (or Bolas specific), Meaning its probably a non compatible deck with literally any other deck aside from some Grixis decks. ALSO, its probably in your mind, but if we don't buy this archenemy set we might never see archenemy again.
A Guy none of the cards I've seen are color specific, so the only real difference is the back artwork

There should be schemes on both sides, just a reinforcement deck that helps the 3 players with health and drawing cards

The schemes and NB deck seem a little dumb powerful for the powerlevel the planeswalker decks are at. I'm thinking Archenemy: NB would be a lot more balanced with the 3 player team being able to construct their own deck centered around their own planeswalker.
Anon Ymous I think the games were closer than they appeared. Really it was just one scheme at the wrong time in both games. I do agree that using the scheme deck but building your own planeswalkers decks (or just using Commander decks) would be super fun!
Josh Lee Kwai Fair enough. I'm just digging the idea of three people constructing decks for a particular archetype. A babyjace deck for control. Babygideon for frontline aggression, and Chandra Torch of Defiance for support. Granted I also just invented Jeskai control split into 3 decks so maybe I'm trying to minmax it a bit much.
Still sounds fun though :-P
In my group, someone brought this up except in commander format, as we all only had commander at the time. Was absolutely fun, just had to discuss up/commander/infect values for the team and nemesis.
Still as a group tweaking the commander dmg values to prevent total cheese though.

it is nice to see a lot of these guests. i don't pay too much attention to all the podcasts but the game knights episodes are awesome. i don't have a huge amount of money to play commander with just any deck. i simply don't have the money but to see you guys play and just have fun is really nice compared to other MTG players who have been jerks to me especially when it came to commander.
