Saw DSO in Milwaukee last month and they played 2/28/69. After about 25 shows I finally caught a '69 show and it was like time traveling. First time I saw them play Dark Star too. The night before, they played 11/9/73 on the 50th anniversary. Totally had time traveler vibes going on those couple days.
A mind blowing setlist!!! Classic 69 Acid Dead with Workingman Blues mixed in. There's a 40 minute Dark Star-St Stephen-The Eleven followed by the bluegrass Cumberland. There's Cryptical-Other One-Cryptical-Charlie! There's Pig's blues classics Hard To Handle, Big Boss Man and the new original Easy Wind. Something for everybody! And I'm sure Phil is blowing the monitors up. There is nothing more volcanic than 69 Phil! 💜🌋🔥🌋💥👅💧😵💫✌️💚
Yeah!!! Love this one, too, the core!! Sweet, early stuff keeps my feet moving!! Thank you, Elaine for this wonderful show! Enjoy your Monday-- Cosmic Charlie Rocks
Hey Elaine! To an older GD fan like myself, this set list is beyond spectacular! Great way to start the week. Thank you so much. I have my yearly physical tomorrow. You help to keep me feeling well. The Dead help too!! Enjoy your week.
this Just FANTASTIC , I have daves pick 10 - the next night 12-12 & bonus disc which is 1st set here .. I can finally hear Set 2 .. thanxx a zillion jerry notes for this .. Wow
“Holy set list, BatMan(Woman!)” Can’t wait for that “ Yellow Dog Story”😂( “ Don’t encourage him”- Jerry would say) All joking aside, this can go up against any show they ever played in competition for Most Ridiculous( in a good way!) Set List Ever! It’s like they asked some crazy old Head what his “ Desert Island / Fantasy show” of all-Time would be( maybe they did🤷🏻)… and then went ahead and PLAYED IT! Pow! Pow! “The American version of the Magnificent Seven- THE Grateful G.Damn Dead!!!”- Bill Graham 💀⚡️
The "Yellow Dog" has a long story. In the run-up to America getting tricked into entering the First World War there were vigilante groups formed by business executives and backed by Wall Street finance, bankers, etc., all over the country. They made a practicie of raiding pacifist, labor and socialist organizations, wrecked their offices, beat up officers and members, totally crushed the Wobblies (IWW), who got sent to prison for "resisting". These military-industrial-financial complex thugs called pacifists "Yellow Dogs." One vigilante group was called the "Anti-Yellow Dog League". The point of Bobby's story is that although a person may be a peace lover if you bite him you might get bit back even harder. "Don't Tread On Me" -- as the flag puts it -- and the song.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw that camera
Earliest hearing yet of the Yellow Dog story
Dark Star and The Eleven. The whole darn show is so awesome, were they ever there at all?
