I do 205. Which is nothing... A truly super strong hand is going to be in the 250- 325 range. The strongest on the planet at around 325-350 ish like Vitaly or Brian Shaw at the top end.
The average human is weaker than you give them credit for ….I’d say a average persons would be anywhere 20-70 …..don’t give humans more credit than they deserve …..a aver human can lift 40-60 kg ….so anybody above that is above average in reality (almost anybody who works out or does something )
This is a lot less correlated to rock climbing than you would think. I’m a competitive boulderer and they all beat my score on this thing 😂. We have strong fingers, but we never really squeeze a climbing hold the same way you squeeze this thing
Learning not to over grip is more important then having crazy grip in climbing. Getting pumped halfway up. Route sucks and you can’t always shake out. As far as gymnast climbing. I’ve known a few who have gotten into it and they all definitely started out stronger then most but still lacked the technique to make them “good.” The body composition does make them excel faster assuming they pick up the technique quickly though.
Don't forget professional armwrestlers my man. I saw once Vitaly Laletin doing this and he did 151 for the second try. Just not in lbs, but in kgs (~330 lbs). 😂
I was thinking exactly that too. I guess their machine must be improperly calibrated. As an exercise scientist, I've tested plenty sedentary men and anything below 90 lbs is considered extremely low. Also, I'm not a gymnast nor a climber whatsoever and I can easily reach 130lbs... TLDR Something is wrong with that machine
This makes me feel a lot better about myself. Recently went through a mix of physical rehab / chiropractic work to fix multidirectional instability in both my shoulders. Part of that was trending my grip strength over time. By the end I was hitting around 105-110, and I am definitely not a gymnast just a hobby lifter. This helps put that into perspective for me thank you
Pretty sure the way you hold the tester changes the results. Holding it with your fist pointing up or to the side or pointing down will give you different numbers. The only way you could compare each person’s strength fairly is to have each person hold the test the same way each time 👍
Yep, 100 percent. That’s why there is a standardized manner in which the person administering the test would be presenting it to the subject (people holding it on their own makes it insanely useless in terms of accuracy) however this channel seems to be more about having fun, so for that I’m all about it…well other than this short 💁♀️
I doubt the orientation affects much. I could see different gripping styles being better or worse, and different sized hands having advantage/disadvantage.
@@shirtdirtalertis the testing equipment giving different results based on orientation or is the orientation delivering different results?! Because i can totally see that how you hold your arm will influence your grip strength. I can't see how holding the test device can influence the result that is basically just measuring a spring.
It's mostly about strength, but also about technique, and adjusting it perfectly to your hand size. I'm not particularly muscular, but I achieved 135 lbs (61 kg) with that same device.
You can see a direct correlation between the size of their wrists and how much they squeeze. The guys with the thick wrists are topping over 100 while the guys with thinner wrists are below.
I did this at work. We handles whiskey barrels and have several hobby powerlifters. If i remember correctly our smallest guy tested at 125 with the highest being at 210.

Kinda underwhelming considering the average human grip strenght is 102 lbs and some of them are under 90lbs
The average human is also not as lean as them. I think if you don't have to worry about being 8-12% bodyfat, you could be way stronger in general.
