    Hey Andy
    I grew up just near Balloch so I really enjoy driving up the lochside in my camper, it used to be a lot narrower between balloch and tarbet and in places towards the head of the loch.

    Hi Andy yet another great video really enjoyed it. I have driven the Loch Lomond road north of Tarbet a few times in my van.
    I find it ok, a bit of a challenge. Was driving it last year and a lorry carrying timber appeared at sharp bend.
    I just slowed right down and we eased past each other. I have driven single track roads on Mull, I have no problems
    With them, I actually prefer them to narrow two way roads.
    Great video Andy, give amber a pat from me.

    Great little tour - we have been up there in our Motorhome and my wife is usually gripping her seat (I do all the driving) on that winding stretch along the shore! Very useful knowing about some of those lay-by's and the CMZ info too. Just subscribed :-)

    Hi Andy you asked what others thought of driving the A82. In 2005, I ventured over to Dunoon, from N Ireland, and hired a motorhome from Motorhome Scotland. Don't know if they are still in business. My wife and I travelled from Dunoon to Invermorriston. I must admit for my first experience of driving a motorhome I found the trip a little challenging especially along the tight bends. However, it was all worth it to drive through the great glen later in the journey. I enjoy your videos, keep them coming.
    Tony

    I live not too far away from Loch Lomond and indeed was calling on shops in this whole area up as far as Arrochar last summer..sadly the hotel in Tarbert has closed due to the Shearing holiday company collapse this being owned by the group as well as Oban and other Highland resorts because of Covid.

    Used to use that route to go north in a van conversion but its just to narrow and unfortunately there’s no chance of widening the road. Now i have a coach built and wont chance it, i drive up stirling side and cut up through callender and then round to pick road at crianlarich, a lot less hairy

    Driven that Road few times , just treat it with Respect , Regular Travellers drive stupid just because nothing has happened in the past they think it wont , if they want to pass you let them eventually you will catch up with one of them and their Vehicle a mess

    Hi Andy, I used to drive (and on many occasions, even cycle), the A82 every weekend on my way to climbing in the highlands. The road now between Balloch and Tarbet has been widened and straightened, the old road was much more winding and narrow. I expect the large pull outs are remnants of the old road. I used to avoid Luss, especially in the summer to avoid all the tour busses. I now live in Canada and it was great to see your video and bring back memories, I much prefer it to the ‘professional’ shows that only broadcast snippets of the best bits and miss out all the nooks and crannies. I wonder if the traffic lights are still on the section that narrows to one lane around a particularly nasty bend ?

    • @kirsteneasdale5707
      @kirsteneasdale5707 Před 5 lety

      Douglas Bain The traffic lights are gone at Pulpit Rock and the road has been widened by a flying bridge out over the Loch.

    Hi Love your videos. Especially the one where you can wild camp overnight.
    Can I ask.Are you not allowed overnight camping at Duck bay or Luss.Or any laybays along Loch Lomond.
    Cheers.

    • @CamperCameraGo
      @CamperCameraGo  Před 5 lety

      Between March & September it's severely restricted to. Just the permit areas within the camping management zone, but outside of those months you're fine unless it's a location that is signposted for no overnight camping. I don't know how rigorously that's enforced, but certainly Mar-Sep the rangers enforce the restrictions.
