HANGING OUT WITH JIMMY EAT WORLD (1996) Live at Fireside Bowl | Found VHS Tape

- Here we have a one-of-a-kind slice of life video that was found on 2 VHS tapes that are from a larger group of tapes that were found at a thrift store. The video features a group of Capitol Records interns as they go to a concert at The Fireside Bowl in Chicago, IL on Sept. 16, 1996 to see Jimmy Eat World (less than 2 months after 'Static Prevails' was released). Also on the bill was Smoking Popes & The Figgs. I preserved every second of this tape & kept it uncut, in it's raw form. It is an amazing look at the band before they blew up and a brilliant look at mid-90's life. More from this set of tapes will be posted later on.

We were booked at Fireside the week they closed. We were so bummed because it was the last Chicago venue we had not played.
Thanks for posting this it's a trip!!!.. Knew who JEW were before most anyone else I sent for the VERY 1st album thru the snail mail (back when punks used to do that) and they sent me a bunch of free 7 inches back (which are actually worth some $ now) because I guess wooden blue records basically was done at that point plus their just awesome dudes! :)

But while you're at it, maybe you can dig up some rare live shows, and unreleased demos from J-church, Jawbreaker, Jets to Brazil, and every other band I love?

no, this tour was literally 2 months after Static Prevails was released. the dude says 1998 in the video, but he was inebriated and wrong lol. it was called the God Bless America tour.
