    I do maintenance and light IT in a warehouse. I had an issue with an HP stream 11 pro g4 ee notebook. It went to the black screen of death all of a sudden and there was no cursor. It wouldn't turn off (small white LED was still illuminated). Pressing the power button for 5, 10, 60 seconds did nothing. Pressing ctrl-alt-del, ctrl-shift-esc, and repeatedly pressing esc did nothing Lol. This small laptop doesn't have a battery you can just pop out. Ended up removing all the screws from the bottom, even the ones under the pads. Took some plastic computer tools and pried open the top to expose the inner guts. The battery is very flat and encompasses a lot of the notebook. I followed the battery power cables to the connector and unplugged the connector. This obviously turned off the notebook. I plugged it back in and pressed the power button. Computer booted right back up to Windows 10. Pressed everything down so it locked into place. I guess I should have ran check disk... but in a warehouse setting everything is... GO GO GO get it done. We need it now. lol.

      HAha, I've run across issues like this as well. Would make for a great episode. I don't know how many times I've had to disconnect a battery on a laptop to get it to boot back up correctly. Stupid electricity.

    What also helps troubleshooting is to understand the concepts and how the computer or system works.

      Yeah we should probably go way back and talk about concepts for a series like this huh? Would make sense.

    My question is how I know ip is our system address,but I start to learn more I found its address also for location,is that means system and location for example if we use laptops and we go travel up address is a different?

    • @Marshallchandra
      @Marshallchandra Před 5 lety +1

      Tl;dr = DHCP gives IP address.
      If i make a mistake feel free to correct or add in the discussion
      By default your device only have unique MAC address.
      Whenever you connect to an network. Your device make contact with a local server called DHCP that will give you private (local) IP address.
      Yay private IP. Why private? Because Local network or LAN. What about online stuff?
      Online stuff use Public IP address. Now IP address have a limited amount (read about IPv4), so we have Translation address (NAT) from private to public. This makes it possible for each network to have their own Local IP and not have to worry about address conflict with other local network.

    In my current position, when a desktop or laptop doesn’t have an internet connection, the biggest fix is hitting shutdown. Not sure why this yields different results than hitting restart, but it does.

      Sometimes just turning it off and on again will do wonders. With your specific case There's a few technicalities behind this, mostly to do with re-authentication.

    I have to disagree with your first step, especially for this example. The very first step you ALWAYS need to take is to confirm the issue is, in fact, an issue. Using this as the example, the first thing I always do is to attempt to open a web page that the user has almost certainly never gone to before. I like to use cheese.com as my first check, but whatever comes to your mind will work as well. The reason for this is, I can't tell you how many times a user has told me the 'internet isn't working' when the issue isn't 'the internet' or anything to do with the actual computer itself. It's simply that one site didn't load, and they didn't think to try any other sites before contacting me. Issue confirmation can save you a ridiculous amount of troubleshooting time wasted on an issue that wasn't present, to begin with.
    For this specific example, if the issue exists, I usually follow with an ipconfig /all. This tells me in very short order if the interface is down, or if the IP address is correct, etc. For me, being able to look ahead on the troubleshooting flow is worth its weight in gold to save me the frustration of time spent on the wrong decision fork.

      @Itcareerquestions  Před 5 lety

      Very good point Heath, I think I got a little ahead of myself and just assumed for this video we were going with it being an issue. But yes, definitely confirming If it's an issue also is a great first step.
      I too have run across those scenarios many times to only find out that the website was down.
      Thank you for the great feedback
