Oh wow, amazing that you kept you OG Jordan’s from the good ol’ days, I was twelve when I got my first pair of J’s. I too worn mine out, the left side was a bit torn on the toe side of the shoe. Wish I kept mine as well but my mom threw them away thinking they were too worn, but I did kept my lace locks, we had called them lace biters back then, but mine too don’t say Nike on the red plastic, only on the clear(ish) part say Nike. So now I have the 2013’s as well the 2020 version. Love these shoes!! Great video!!!
Dope content keep them videos coming!🔥🔥
Sick review 🔥
Glad I came across your channel! Subscribed! Refreshing to see that you really wear your sneakers! I also grabbed these on release day
I did wear them a while ago! Sometimes I have problems wearing them today! Haha!
Thanks for subscribing!!
Finally. I just wanted to see how these shoes stack up to the original. Thanks
I liked and subbed just for that. Please keep these videos coming
Thanks! I try to compare my OG's to the new ones. You will find some more videos like that on the channel.
The Bred 11 and Bred 4 videos compare to the OG...
Jordan Shoe Vault. I am a grown man. I have my own family. I just wanted to buy the shoes I wanted when I was a kid. So, your video was just what I wanted.
There are teens and twenty somethings making vids on this, but they just don’t give the information you did.
Do you have other social media, website etc?
That’s crazy! Cant believe you still have those shoes still
Great video
You should definitely wear and enjoy them I think you could pull them off really well
I'm trying! My family says the same thing!
Im 41, I still wear Jordans and dont care if anyone thinks its silly! I have had most of the originals growing up as a kid and they bring back that feeling in me.
This is gonna be me in 30 years with some of my pairs now & I love it. Great video. Not the biggest fan of this version of the fire red. I own the Black tongues.
Can’t wait to see your videos in 30 years! 👍
Aligned with you. only buying og colorways with nike branding. GOOD VID!
Some in my collection are not OG...but as time goes on I try to stick with the OG colors more.
Great review I love the 5s
I love the 5s too...I still try to stick to as much of the Retro OG's as I can.
Finally a older sneakerhead lol man I'm having second thoughts on these the tongue and the height of the shoe
Yep...I'm definitely on the "older" side! Haha! I personally love the 5's because of the history...I had them when I was younger. But I can understand liking the lower silhouettes too. But I love the 3M tongue!
Appreciate you. I’m older and had the original versions as well. I have been coping the rereleases. So nostalgic. My question is how do you store them when you rebuy them to stop the yellowing on the icy bottoms or netting as in the 5’s. I heard using ziplocks as well as shrink wrapping helps but I also heard that can cause crumbling as well. So I’m a little torn on what to do. I’d appreciate some insight. I appreciate your enthusiasm. I feel the same excitement when I buy them in my 40’s as I did as a kid.
I bought the retro but OG rules. I had the grapes and black tongue 5s in 1990..I was in middle school. I wish I had kept them around.
The heel counter is the only thing that kinda gets under my skin with the 2020 release. The heel counter panel is just too high and it throws off the looks of the shoe. It was the first thing that stuck out right off the bat. Also, there is too much padding in the ankles...like way too much padding. Other than that it's an awesome shoe
I can see what you are saying about the ankle padding...
🔥⚡
One thing to remember, $125 in 1990 with inflation is $245 or so of todays money. So at retail the retro's are technically cheaper than the originals 😀 I had the black metallics, got them for Christmas 1990 I was 12. I wish I would have saved them. One thing I notice with new retros including this one is the top of the shoe is a lot smaller, the originals had a much bigger ankle area diameter (heel cup) the new ones are more like a triangle shape to the top if that makes sense. The 3 retros all do this too, I have my original 3s and the way they made the ankle opening was a lot wider and less padding.
Facts Compare To The OG Makes Retros Cheap & Generic I Glad That I Turned 2020 Pair 2000 It’s The Closest To The Original I Hate The Blue Soles & Plastic Looking Tongue 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Wow 😲
can someone confirm me if MJ wore this colorway? Because all the pictures I've seen is with the black metallics and fire red with the 23 on the side.
How do you store them so the shoe and the icy soles don't yellow?
Sole sheilds
Retro Isn’t That Bad But The Original Is Better Shape And Quality In My Opinion You Can Restore Em And Make It 10x Better Than Any Retros They Put Out Now.....Great Pick Up
I agree...love my OG pairs!!
Jordan Shoe Vault I Got The Original Fire Red With Black Tongue And Big 23 Along With Original Box Half Of Year Ago
I like those too. Great pickup!
Your 90’s have less yellowing than my DS 2000 retro’s!
That’s interesting!
The white on the OG ones nubuck? Or leather like the retro?
Both are leather
Thanks!
The 1990 is composed of a synthetic material called durabuck. Nike used durabuck on Air Jordans 4-10. They would just heat-press it differently to give the shoes the look and feel of suede or leather. The shoes that used the suede pressed durabuck tend to crack and chip with age. However, the leather pressed durabuck tends to yellow and dry out over time. The company that originally developed durabuck, went out of business in 1998. Nike eventually created their own durabuck, it’s what we have now. However, it doesn’t feel like the old durabuck at all; it’s typically less thick and feels cheaper to a degree. Nike claimed they switched over from full-grain leather to durabuck so it made cleaning the shoe easier, and it also supposedly made the shoe last longer. Nike even claimed the Air Jordan V could be cleaned with glass cleaner.😂

no obvious cracking on the 90s? wow
Not too much...there is a little happening...
Jordan Shoe Vault that’s extremely impressive
Some Of Them Originals Do Be Cracking Completely After Years Even In The New Condition Still Can’t Wear Em You Can Soleswap Em To Make Em Wearable Again
Was that Jordan 5 buried in the ground
Haha! It sure does seem like it!
I was just a kid when I had them and I wore them everywhere and all the time!
@@JordanShoeVault you been in the jumping in mud with those xD
Or ran over
🧐 yeah there's a difference in the two
Wow the screen didn't turn yellow after all of that in 1990
True...hadn’t thought about that...but it hasn’t.
The 1990 Air Jordan V used a different material for the mesh. The newer mesh we have on retros, start in 2000 with the rerelease of the Air Jordan V. The old pairs still have clear mesh; but with a yellowed outsole. I guess Nike has figured out a way to make the mesh cheeper, so they stopped making it with the same materials they originally used. The mesh on the 1990 is also more durable; it doesn’t break and tear like retro’s do after they oxidize.
Bro can you clean them 😂😂😂
I bought the retro but OG rules. I had the grapes and black tongue 5s in 1990..I was in middle school. I wish I had kept them around.
