i just realized how amazing violin sound is in acoustic pop punk songs
"I am the walls, the silent halls, my jacket at your sister's wedding: navy blue" Does anyone else understand how this one line has such an impact on this song? It adds so much depth and history to the story of himself and who he's talking to. I often wonder if others feel music on that deep of a level.
I do. I remember first hearing this song edited to "Orange" from a guy named KilledMyself, or "Iwalkedherhomeonelasttime", I cant remember what the person's name is. But I remember first hearing it and breaking down because I had just gone through a heartbreak after being groomed by some jackass on the internet. I remember hearing that line and just crying until I couldnt breathe. I find myself coming back to this song so much, just to remember what happened and to tell myself I shouldnt have been so naive. This song will always mean something to me

@@linerrrs OK, as I understood it, the singer was involved enough in the person's life to have been a part of their sister's wedding, which is not something you'd likely be invited to unless you had been together for a lengthy amount of time or were very serious about the relationship. All of this summed up in the one line. I am just truly impressed by the writing there.

I've thought about this notion a lot, how so many of us beat ourselves up for not having known better when we were younger, how we shouldn't have been so naïve, how we shouldn't have been so stupid, and you know, we're so tough on ourselves. This comes up a lot in the case of narcissistic abuse, which is something I've been through a lot, and I've come to terms with the fact my father was narcissistically abusive. Of course, I followed suit and ended up in nothing but narcissistically abusive relationships, and I'd beat myself up constantly about how I should've known better, and then it just clicked that, my mother is the smartest woman I know, and she didn't know better either. We're a species meant not to endure pain but to survive it. I hope you're doing better. Much love everyone. ❤

I'm...conflicted, honestly. I think the original was special because of how raw, unprocessed and unedited the vocal performance was. This one seems just a little too clean to have the same emotional effect. However, the instrumental, the use of subtle strings at the end, and the final moments vocally, were all excellent. I don't think this version's better or worse, just...different. And in the end, they achieved different things with the same template, which is really interesting.
1:21 gave me chills. I like this better than Parker's version.
