Just showed this to my girls , 7 and 9 before leaving for their exams. I told them we have got to do all it takes just like Rocky . No matter how rich or poor, we keep practicing, working , giving it our all to win in this life, even if we didn’t we at least know we have given it the best we have , and gained self respect. It is Rocky’s journey that really touched our hearts, not the final match. We can and we will with God’s blessing along with us.

One thing I do like about part 4 is how it shows Rocky and Drago using similar training exercises, but the methods and equipment are so very different - Drago's got state of the art facilities available to him, while Rocky has to go completely Old School.

Tremendous story telling to make you care so much about a fictional character. There’s a bit of Rocky in all of us. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go work out 😂
The greatness of the Rocky series and its spin-off is amazing and it shows the evolution from underdog to champion to legend to trainer perfectly. Every part fits from the draw with Apollo to the world title to getting back in shape and on top to face all odds to teach respect to his students to showing that you are basically immortal.

5 is really underrated to me, it was a lot more real life outside of the ring and dealing with the good times gone. The entire franchise is great, they all have lessons to pass on.

I legit cried in the theater at the end of Creed 1 when Adonis had to help rocky up the stairs at the end. Time gets all of us. Watching these clips and see him move onto a mentorship role in Creed shows that time comes for all of us sooner or later.

Rocky 1 = Most people begin somewhere in life with nothing, your life isn't written out with millions of dollars.
Rocky 2 = Sometimes you have another chance in life, you work harder for it, you don't be afraid!
Rocky 3 = White and black people are all capable of performing the same abilities with each other. Racism is stupid and there is no reason for it.
Rocky 4 = Training doesn't need to involve gym equipment, training can be done without a gym, at home or outside.
Rocky 6 = Don't judge older people, they may be older, tire more and perform slower, but they will always have that muscle memory and knowledge of how to train and fight.

The first time I saw that I went from depressed over this movie and just wanting Rocky to get out, to getting hyped out of my mind for him to annihilate Apollo.
The training montage with Apollo Creed is the most inspiring thing my young mind has ever seen. I've always wanted that kind of brotherhood/friendship since seeing that scene

As someone who lived in Philly for a while, I can remember it...the dirty streets...the steps to the art museum that was so hard to climb... the geese in the Delaware River ...the abandoned train tracks. damn I miss that city.
The one lesson people miss in these movies is that life is not about always winning, but trying.

For someone who grew up with these movies as a kid and is now over 40, these training movies and music with it gives us 40 year old guys the help and motivation to get back into shape or at least be healthier.
Rocky 2 training montage always brings a tear to the eye. They shouldn't have changed the music in rocky 4
R2 training montage was epic also my favorite. But, R4 training montage was a great change of pace after the first three movies.

Not really, it depends. Squats and deadlifts really benefit from flat shoes cause you need as much force going through your feet not your shoe soles. Also, boxing is a fast ass sports unlike say basketball where you do a lot more running.

You know rewatching this at an older age I realize why rocky won the fight, Rocky on top of having the odds stacked against him trained in harsh conditions and the weather isn’t on his side where as Drago is training hard but it’s in a warm gym through machines and simulations.
Any of our ancestors could beat the shit out of many of today's men with a stick even with us having the benefit of having stronger bodies those guys on steroids would be superhuman
