I would recommend finding a local foraging group to join with people who have knowledge of what is poisonous and what is not. Also, invest in foraging handbooks for mushrooms and wild edibles. NEVER EVER eat something unless you can 100% ID it. I have been foraging my whole life, grew up in Washington state, but as an adult who lives in New York now, everything is different. I am learning all about the different edibles/mushrooms here. I will never eat something even when I am sure, until I have properly studied and ID it more than twice. If you live in Washington, there are tons of foraging groups to join. If you're anywhere out here near NY, hit me up!

While growing up, I heard legend that if a dog piss on a spot, mushroom grows. I've seen some regular brown n white mushrooms and they are huge growing wild. As a non expert plus the legend, I leave them alone. Those chanterelles are just like gold nuggets hidden in the forest. Finding them is like looking for mystical trolls and fairies. Thank you for taking us on your journey. I always eat while watching your channel. It is a must do or else we be salivating and a Costco trip is coming. See you n lovely on the next one.

In fact, fungi, by their very nature, need their spores to be spread, and this sense of them needing to be carefully handled is antithetical to what actually helps them proliferate. Breaking apart and spreading parts encourages further propagation!

I have been foraging these mushrooms since I was a kid around West Virginia it's so awesome to see someone making fancy sandwiches with them 100% trying this my self
Loved this. We get so excited when we find the mother load. Last year we could not find a single one here in Minnesota. This year was amazing, 6 large bag filled plus. We cook them and make these sandwiches just like you, freeze some like you and dehydrate them as well. I will have to look up your Matsutake video. Northern Minnesota you would think I would find them but so far not. Good blessings to you both.
I love foraging for these mushrooms....I spend a lot of time gathering mushrooms and of course making friends with the hairy people of our mountains. 👁️👣. They are really nice if you don't cross their boundaries on purpose.
So lucky! Up here in Oregon the mushroom season this year has been rough. My spot that usually produces 80+ pounds of chanterelles every year only grew about 10 pounds and has stopped growing already.

In Mexico you serve that with tortillas and salsa it is called "alambres". Usually made with any type of mushrooms you can get your hands on.
