  • Jozef Puska has been found guilty of murdering schoolteacher Ashling Murphy in Tullamore, Co Offaly.
    Ms Murphy, 23, was killed while exercising on a canal path in Tullamore, Co Offaly, on the afternoon of January 12 last year.
    Her boyfriend Ryan Casey and brother Cathal Murphy spoke briefly to the media outside the Central Criminal Court in Dublin on 9 November.
    Mr Casey said: “Ashling was a vibrant, intelligent and highly motivated young woman who embodied so many great traits and qualities of the Irish people and its communities.
    “She was not only an integral part of our family but she was also a huge shining light in our community, a community in which year in year out, she gave back to as best she could."

    Condolences to Aishling's family and friends and to the families and friends of the two men in Sligo who were also brutally murdered. Impossible to imagine the heartache those families have gone through in the last 2 years.

      Same as UK mate. All these unvetted males coming over. How many criminals, sex offenders, paedophiles, jihadists. Yet nothings done to stop them and they're treated better than the indigenous people. I fully sympathise with the girls family. Will the Irish Government do anything? No.

    Sending love and prayers to Ashlings family. The pain on their faces as this dignified and heartbreaking statement was read out is so gut wrenching . God bless each one of you and give you the strength to carry your incredible loss. Well done to every one who tirelessly worked on this case. You are to be commended on the result of Guilty . I hope the sentencing will reflex the absolutely barbaric assault and murder of Ashling

    very sad for the family...but when is this nonsense of calling it a life sentence. going to stop . ...when it plainly is not..except for the murphy family it is.....the evil person should never see the light of day again...and shame on the people who helped covering his crime up

    don't get things mixed. if a disabled person comes to your country and sustains off wellfare this should technically be a minor issue if your disability is very serious and believe it or not there is a benefit there to the country . The major issue in this case is he was a sex offender before coming over. to me that means hes harmed other people. if you have done something to harm other people at any point in your life intentionally you should lose your right to travel freely or move country.

    I listened to a podcast on the case every day but am still confused about the motive. Did they ever find out why he did it? Normally it's rape or mental illness, but none of that was mentioned.

    • @lynncrf
      @lynncrf Před 10 měsíci +4

      @mud6992 Yes, but the prosecution usually suggest a motive and they didn't. This is a very strange crime since most stranger attacks are sexually motivated or to do with psychosis. Who knows what on earth he was thinking? ☹️
