My biggest crush as a young man. I once stood 10 ft from her at an Airplane concert, during the Revolution era. I've never been so mesmerized. I couldn't breathe. At 24, no one was prettier or more captivating than her. Her 'White Rabbit' performance at Woodstock was the best performance there.
I read a story a while back that she was booted from Starship because she lost her ability to sing on key, due to drinking too much. But if this was her last performance, that story is total bull-she was note-perfect here.

She was kicked out of Jefferson Starship after a show in Germany in July, 1978. Grace was really drunk, and she was calling the audience members Nazi’s and children of Nazi’s while goose stepping across the stage and chanting “who won the war?” She rejoined the band 2-3 years later.

When I first got into rock and roll Grace Slick and Janis were my idols. My sister had the Red Octopus album and I used to steal it and listen to it for hours. There was no one like Grace or Janis. Two ballsy talented women who paved the way for every female rocker to come. They owe them a huge debt.

    "Law Man"
Lyrics by Grace Slick (Originally on the JA LP BARK)
Law man I'm afraid you just walked in here at the wrong time
My old man's gun has never been fired
But there's a first time and this could be this could be the first time
    Law man
You know you look to be a lot younger than me and
I'd hate to shoot a baby
You've got a long way to go before you're old and slow
    And it could be
It could be a good time if you change your mind
Well I'm tired and sweet from making love
    And it's just too late
    You'll have to wait
Bring your business around here in the morning
    Well I've heard your line
    And you've heard mine
And I'm just too tired to take a side
Bring your business around here in the morning
Don't you want to be easy look there
Let some of the things you see go on by or
You can burn them into your brain go on home
Don't you see the children, they're just like you
They want everything to be fine but they let it slide
And the laughing lets you know that smiling breaks the rules
Law breaker you know it could be me
And if you had your way we'd all be down
Under the face of a clock that's just too old to be wound
And you can see now the old hands won't move around
    One way or the other,
Fool card brother this could be,
This could be, the first time.

I was a very lucky precocious teenager in San Francisco in 1966 when I discovered the Jefferson Airplane and Grace Slick. With out a doubt she was the most alive, intense, talented force of nature in the entire scene. And believe me: there were a bunch of real characters from Garcia, Janis, Cippolina, Gurley, Steve Miller, Jerry Miller, Albin, Spence, Bloomfield, Butterfield, Stills, Casady, Kaukonen,Duncan,Young, the Chamber Brothers-and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Amidst this vortex of psychedelic energy and community Grace was, for my money, completely electric. She burned her presence by her performance.

I saw her and Mickey Thomas together with Jefferson Starship. Never saw two better singers and they had great chemistry! Grace had better stage presence than Mickey

No to the cheesy keyboards, no to the arena rock drum sound, no to the rushed tempo, I was never that fond of the lyrics. But even if the lyrics were questionable I still like the song becuz she sang it so well.

I was on the catwalk on the side of the stage for the 50 reunion at Lockn' billed as Hot Tuna & Friends... loved Rachel Price singing this one, "Lawman" from Bark album! Jack Cassidy was a wild man that night!
