Linda would describe herself to be a stroke survivor, inventor, and problem solver. The people that know her often describe her to be a “secret weapon”. After her stroke in 2016, she found her true purpose in life by helping others to recover better after a brain injury. Linda is the General Director at Brain and Spine Rehab BV This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. My doctors told my family to get ready for my funeral after my stroke surgery, but here I am!
I lost my wife 3 years ago, she passed 2 weeks after the stoke... you are a very strong woman and I can see my strength in you...don't you ever give up. ❤❤❤
Thank you Linda for this talk. The reality of brain injuries is that most people only partially recover. I have the greatest admiration for those people who are paralyzed, have foot drop, speech aphasia, and whole host of other muscle and brain related side effects - but they continue to live their life to the fullest. You see them out and about shopping for their family, helping their children, or walking down the street. Even though they may not have the use of one of their arms, or can't walk without a cane or a limp, or can't speak without "thinking" about how to say every single word. They work three times as hard just to read a note, get dressed in the morning, or try to tell Alexa to add something to their shopping list. I live with one of these people and the only truth I can tell anyone who has had a brain injury is that you can live a meaningful life whether or not you fully "recover", partially recover, or don't recover at all. Your worth as a human being is not in your physical abilities but in your heart as a Mother or Father, Husband or Wife, Brother or Sister, or friend. Do the best you can to live the best life possible under the circumstances and you will be an inspiration for others every day of your life.
Thank you. You are such an inspiration. My wife survived a stroke Sept 22. I am determined to help her get some of her life back. God spared her only because her work is not finished here.

My doctor said that a good doctor never predicts outcome of a stroke. If he does, change the doc
I had severe infract stroke in Oct 2021 I am 37 now. I was unable to move left body, couldn’t speak. But watching Linda speech, I memorised my post stroke workout journey. I am able to walk better now and move left hand very well like Linda but still left Hand motor function is still in process.
For those who had stroke, do not loose hopes!!
I have been there also. Stroke, both feet "dead" Also worked hard to walk again. Many falls. But now I am ok.

I mean.. she's the proof. If she can heal herself up to this point, imagine what you could do with your perfectly healthy body.

Full of fear and depression.
Suicidal thoughts. Had to leave my job. Long times of loneliness.
Thinking it was all over for me.

I went through four at the same time when I was only seventeen years old, two years have already passed and I am very well within what is possible, thinking positively and always thinking that life is a special occasion, because there is only one life. A big kiss and a strong hug, warrior ❤
7 strokes had my 3rd caused by afib. Hope you are doing OK. So glad😮 to hear Linda talk. Hope she is doing well as well.
I’m a stroke survivor I’m almost 3 years post stroke and I’m thankful for not giving up and working hard to learn how to walk and talk again. I’m not 100% but I accept I can still live a life and still work. You’re definitely an inspiration and show that there’s life still in us after a stroke. God Bless You!
Stroke runs in my family. And it happened to me 3 months ago. Watching and listening to you makes me happy for you so much. Good luck for you and me .
Linda walks the talk, everything she shares in her talk, I have seen her apply in daily live for the last 3 years. I also want to point out that delivering a TEDx talk is way out of her comfort zone. A: she really is an introvert. B: She is a recovering aphasic, C: She really dislikes speaking in public and never gave a talk or speech before after her stroke.
People become skeptical and intimidated when she speaks the truth, they cannot believe the truth of what she did to recover. It even took over a thousand references to convince the “TEDx high command commity” to see that she isn’t just saying something, or sharing fake news. It just shows that they do not have a clue what she stands for ( she did for example not want her book “Stroke Rebel” to be published before everything she said in there was referenced) I can honestly say that I have not learned more from anyone then from her. Someone that walks the talk and thinks out of the box, unlike most of us. Please watch and share her message. I hope it will change your life like it has mine!

What a beautiful, strong and inspirational woman you are. I am 8 months post stroke and I am still fighting to regain the use of my left arm. I can walk unaided and I also aim to run again. Very well done and I wish you the ver best of luck with the rest of your adventure 😍 Jason

Hi Linda Thank you so much for your inspiring talk. I had a stroke myself 10 month ago. And right from the beginningI felt I was on a voyage to recover and understand myself better. I surely feel that I am one of the 3 % thinking out of the box, testing a lot of possibilities, where maybe 95 % turned to be errors.I honor the last 5 %. For the moment I have started to play golf again, with a help from a Monobuggy, but still I have to make the shots and the walking around the greens myself. And I have trained my right hand by playing piano again. Now I use Nordic walking sticks when I am walking, but I am hoping to find a good way to leave the sticks, so I can continue to enjoy walking in the forest again. Once again thanks for your words and your nobel example.
I am a 7 year post-stroke survior. I am thankful to be alive, after having a massive stroke,I am still not able to use my left arm, still walking with a 4 prone cane. Sometimes I walk without it but not long distance.
Linda , way to get after it.I would love to consult with you about my recovery from stroke. I am 6 years from the Stroke, still working hard. Out of the Box is where all gains were made. The rewards came from the struggle, STAY STRONG.

I'm so glad I found you on instagram. It led me to your book and the brain rehab channel. I've been doing all these methods following my own stroke and it has helped me so much. My own community failed me and offered literally nothing but sports injury therapy. I never received any help with my arm or hand. I'm so appreciative of the information put out by your book and the master classes. Thank you, thank you🤗🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼😄 This was a fabulous talk!

What a lovely human being you are. I had a stroke in December 2021. Came out of Hospital in March. Been home since March 2022. My Life was also not very happy, spent to much time on wasteful activities and relationships. My stroke has taught me about friendship and it's true value. I also understand more about my self. Trying to make sure those old patterns don't resonate anymore. Thank you so much.

Excellent talk Linda, you may recall I had a stroke around the same we time as you. Like you I refused to give up. Understanding that neuroplasticity was key, and that only I could ultimately change and repattern my brain. I am 3 months out from my stroke. It has totally upended my life. I am a cyclist (was?) at 70.I plan to ride again by summer, that is the goal. This is one beautiful TED Talk and I have seen many. What a magnificent woman, a great inspiration. She has given me more tools to help get me back on my bicycle soon.

You’re a positive message to stroke sufferers. I’ve been there too. Lost my left upper / lower limbs.I awoke with the thought, “ I’m not having this!. This will not be my future.
I too had such a good life, I was determined to regain as much as possible. The hardest was being a professional musician, multi instrumentalist, composer, film maker. This was too much to give up, I’m working on one of those instruments, the others will follow. The left hand and arm are the biggest challenge but.hey, I can walk, I’m working towards driving again.
It’s been a journey, after a year it’s difficult to maintain motivity but like yourself, I have determination. Good luck, you’re doing great!

linda, you are my hero, my role model. after i read your book "STROKE REBEL" i have tried to be like you. and i was, i really was like you. i worked very hard on my therapies, but 9 years after my stroke, i fell and fractured my left femur. that set me back to zero and had to start all over. 8 years after that, i still can't reach the level of improvement i had before my fracture.. now i need emotional/psychological help in order to continue this arduous labor of getting back to some kind of normalcy. thank you linda!
Beautiful encouraging words. Maybe you can add prayers too with your self healing. There are so many proven miracles in the past and today that happens that you may not be aware about and science cant explain.

She's come a long way. That's always a good sign.
I've been seeing a lot of videos about stroke survivors and one possible treatment caught my eye. There is a doctor in Florida that infects an anti inflammatory medicine into the spines of people, because most stroke survivors are actually still suffering from an inflammation in the brain. It's quite fascinating. Just look up "perispinal etanercept". Around 80% of their patients have a good and immediate improvement. I hope that this can help more people in the future and more specialists offer this treatment.
