Actually an incredible footage! Usually prey are panicking when they are being hunted. Haven't seen behavior like this before. It's like they are aware of the risks the wild dogs have to take to reach them. Even when the wild dogs came really close they didn't flinch. The survival instincts tell them to just stay put and play the waiting game.

Beautiful video with nature sounds and minimal speaking. Would have been interesting to see how they landed on the cliff. Survival skills help them from predators. Nice to see prey come up on top, instead of killed and ripped to shreds alive.

Ibex are naturally incredible climbers, but the wild dogs don't seem that smart. For Gods sake they won't even hurt if just jump from the top to have dinner on the table. It's not like they're stepping on a land mine where the probability of death is high

    • @totalhysteria

@@dawitgebrat1878 I don't think falling from the cliff is lethal, but it probably could cause some damage. In worst case break a leg if they are really unlucky. But I actually don't think they can estimate heights and the risks very accurately. Not really because they are stupid or anything. It's not just an environment they hunt in regularly. The terrain and the way the prey act are way out of their comfort zone.

These African wild dog (Lycaon pictus) also called the African painted dog and the African hunting dog, are one of the most terrifying yet successful predators ever! They instinctually work as a pack, their stamina is incredible, their strategy and ability to communicate to each other in a chase is phenomenal; they trade off leaders to conserve energy so some hang back and they take turns moving into the lead position, so with that strategy and stamina, they nearly always tire out their prey and catch it, especially out on flat country. As a pack, they can wear out and take down a huge antelope or wildebeest and the prey doesn't have a chance with these dogs, if they can reach the prey at all!
It is horrifying to watch them in action and take down an animal, I've seen it and I don't enjoy seeing a predator kill its prey but it's how nature works. A lion or tiger will go for the throat and long fangs either sever the spinal cord or cut off air and the prey is strangulated. With wolves and wild dogs, they bring the prey down, bite it and tear at it until it bleeds out and dies within a minute or two.
Nature seems very cruel at times, but the prey, when caught, usually goes into shock and probably isn't really aware or feel all the trauma of the attack and killing.
