For cost reference: I calculated that 3-1/2" R-13 batt insulation would run about 61¢ per ft². For this spray to reach R-13 value it would require 2.3 inches in depth. That would cost $1.92 per ft². So for walls that are 8 feet tall, the cost for batt insulation = $4.89 a linear foot. The cost for this spray foam = $15.38 per linear foot. (Actual cost depends on package purchased) Your mileage may vary. Thanks for the video.
BUT fiberglass batt is not a good idea for a metal shed due to condensation causing
a mold problem. You also have to have studs to attach the batts to.
I would recommend rigid foam sheets and glue them in place with
this spray foam leaving a good space between sheets say 1 1/2 inches at least.
It would leave you with a much cleaner looking job as well and WAY faster too.
In answer to this video's question "doesn't that look great?" Not really.
What are you insulating, meaning what will be inside the shed? Will it have a heat source inside? If not, the air inside will rise or fall to the outside temperature. You might slow down the rise in temperature inside on a sunny summer day, but it will eventually be the same. And even if you have a heat source inside, the wooden supports will transfer the heat in or out, bypassing the foam insulation. Appreciate the time and effort to make the video and share your experience..
He literally says in the video
@@Easton21 Got it, thanks. My mind must have wandered away the first time through the video; I was multi-tasking a couple other chores.
I'm an ironworker, and we use these guns all the time and I'm gonna give you tip after you clean the gun initially leave the can attached to the gun let the acetone work on the remaining foam clinging to the inside the workings trust me it may appear its all out but it isn't let cleaner can on for at least 5 minutes and respray then when you take can off don't pull trigger to release pressure let that cleanerase in the gun another 5 minute then release these guns gradually clog up and will need to be broken down to clean properly but this will help prolong that
Thank you for your knowledge. I appreciate you
Hi there Tad from NZ. Thanks for uploading a video with your own real experience on using a spray foam kit with cans. I have been looking to do the same kind of job and was wondering if the can approach was worth it. Great Video!
That’s slick! Thanks for showing
Any time!
Thank you for this video. Only question I have is what is the final rigidity of the foam once its cured?
Cool 😎 great for small jobs 😁 I like the way it filled All the gaps and gets hard!! Thanks brother 😁
Super real world information.
Wow, I didn't know they had a diy spray foam. Thanks for the video
You're welcome my friend
Howdy down there in Tennessee watching from Paris.
Paris, Tennessee?
Thanks for going back and showing the right way
You bet
thanks @asudavew for the math, LOL. I would factor in the ease of application, especially on the roof. Tad, have you tried using the Great stuff Professional ? I wonder if the tips would attach to that gun.
great video!! thanks man
Glad you liked it!
Thank you! Good DIY video. I'm trying to figure out if I want to do a scratch coat on my cabin under the R-19 fiberglass insulation. Any thoughts Taddy?
It would create a nice solid barrier that's a good idea
Thank you for watching the video i'm here to help
Just curious, did you use clothes sell insulation or open cell installation because if you’re doing your metal roof, you should think about the metal roof sweating and siding so you should probably use close sell insulation otherwise you’re just soaking up all that moisture and getting mold
closed cell foam
Thanks for sharing. Where did you set the regulator at when applying?
mid way
How many cans did you use on your shed? Also what's the size of the shed?
The shed is eight by ten
I use eighteen cans
Great job thanks for all your hard work ✌️
My pleasure!
Do not have moisture on your substrate, also wear the proper PPE, any moisture above 14% will more than likely lead to delamination issues, manufacturer will tell you 18 is the highest, a professional will tell you 14, high pressure or low pressure, you want your surface as dry as possible
Does it help create a moisture barrier if used on basements walls?
yes
Hey great video and good product! My question is, can you use this spray foam to make a walking box, for 35 F temp to 41 F
I did. But had professional apply it for those areas. If you need electrical service local codes may call for specific details. Also whatever you plan to cool with should be installed first as the foam will form a seal. Don't forget to cover up anything you don't want the foam inside of. It's about like using a power paint sprayer makes fine drops.
The sides are fine nice and think, then plywood
Hi, for the roof, can it be sprayed from outside and have the same insulation effect?
no can't be sprayed on roof it would deteriorate
What rating for closed cell insulation do I need for my attic
r 6 -7 per inch
where's your respirator ????
is that foam can be apply on wood like outside house walls?
yes
You did not mention if this is a closed or open cell foam
closed cell
Just about every foam in a can is closed cell. Even alot of the max expansion is single part cc
Where do you BUY it at????
Sprayman Foam Insulation
sprayman.co?ref=taddy_digest
Guess the respirator is optional..😂
Just the tip
What temperature does it need to be?
The listed temperature range is on the can
Thank you
I was going to do this, and after seeing this, I have gladly decided not to. Thanks for showing us!
What does a yellow light mean?
I'm not sure what do you mean
@@TaddyDigest slow down like an automotive finish
How can I buy this product in India
not sure I will find out
You should be wearing a respirator
Spray foam give you r3.5 per inch, i don't know how that is cost effective
That spray foam application looks really terrible. I wouldn’t consider it at all. Froth Pak is way better, and gladly pay more for it.
Open cell spray foam is around R3.5, and closed cell is around R6-7
Des de Mexico tanks
Dam you would of been fired as a spray for sprayfoam jaja but thanks for the info
😄 🤣
"tip number a" 2:15
It's going to get humid in there now.
I put a c in it

U just sprayed the cleaner at the door you just insulated ..also the amount you applied is useless as sprayed ..true 2lb foam.is about 6.5 to 7 r value per inch ..this is showing a way to others to waste money..have the pros do it..even a froth pack is better then this ..u m8ght aswell of grabbed cans of great stuff crack sealer and done ur shed man..
And that's why you HIRE a professional!!!
Here's a video on how I installed the mini split in my shed

No mask?❤
Shoooo. This is about as bad as trying to teach a hone owner to replace a compressor 😅 this stuff is also extremely carcinogenic. Id wear an OV hep canister mask.. I was lead sprayer and forman at my company for like 6 years before i came to hvac fulltime. You make really good content but from a spray foam techs point of view this is no difference than home owners in hvac fb groups 😂
Great point!
@TaddyDigest no hate tho regardless man. You do top notch content. I just have to be the average CZcams commenter from time to time 😂
@@TaddyDigest the amount of foam you sprayed isn't going to insulate much.
Would you have even bid this job? Maybe, but for much more than he paid. This shed is not living space. It's just an airtight box for his solar equipment.
@markstipulkoski1389 dude, I know. But as someone who did spray foam you would be surprised how many people do this kinda shit in their house and the chemicals don't fully react do to cold substrate and makes toxic/ carcinogenic insulation. That's not good in a shed or a bathroom additional or what have you. I even complimented the man because he makes top notch content. It's not like I'm bitching at him 😂 relax
Clown insulation I will say + get all fumes in to your lungs… yeah why not 🙈
Obviously you are NOT a professional. But it’s ok for a shed
You're right
I'm still learning
Thanks
Good info, but please, no more demonstration on how to spray. That was painful to watch!
NGL man you gotta work on your application skills lol
I know
what a mess
Looks chitty
chitty chitty bang bang
Looks horrible
thanks
What a bloody mess 😅😂 don't give up yer day job 😂😂
Thanks
Not even close...... just utter chaos and wastage. Can't teach technique when you none.
thanks 👍
That looks AWFUL!!
