    • STILL WATER 4K | An Av...
A C-5 was circling extremely low, waiting to enter the Patriots flyover pattern. It was constantly spooling and unspooling its engines in order to maintain speed and get the flyover timing right.

Sounds a bit similar to the Vulcans Olympus engines at first. Lovely stuff.

Too late. The C-5M's, equipped with CF6-80C2-L1F (F-138) engines sound nothing like this. They just sound like any other jetliner now, sorry.

Haha, love it! I live outside, and work on Westover ARB in Chicopee, MA. where this C-5 came from. It's normal for me to see this; HOWEVER I love the "Go Pats" under the belly. They also had "MHK" under the right wing, but you probably didn't see it (it was kinda small)!

Yes Exactly. 2 GE90's sound as loud as 3 TF39's. That's why also it is comparatively quieter than C5. The C5 has 4 TF39's

Planes and Games The C-5 M was born from the B, meaning all the B models had the TF 39’s and pylons removed and new GE CF6 engines installed. I retired from the maintenance squadron in 2009 I spent 15 years at Westover and prior to that worked on C141’s.
