    Wow - I was just in Northern Connecticut a few days ago - first time I'd ever seen this breed. Shocked anyone in the South has them.

    They are BEAUTIFUL! We have a small (less than 12) herd of belted galloway up the street. This year they had 3 calves! They are not as full and fat as these guys!

    bulls are usually ringed, it for handling safety usually. Bulls have a tendency to be aggressive the older they get. sometimes they use a similar method for milking cows, the ring creates a distracting to the dam and wont let the calf suckle anymore..so she can be milked . Sometimes they're just ringed if a herd if they show aggressive tendencies to be able to handle them more safety.
