- Although rare, there have been multiple instances in recent history where two teams played in a stadium that neither called home. In one of the most famous examples, the New York Yankees once hosted the Anaheim Angels at the Mets' ballpark because Yankee Stadium was collapsing.

I was in attendance when the Yankees were the road team against the rays in 2017 at Citi field. I’m a met fan but had to go for the novelty of it.
Me too. 9/11/17
And people wonder why they needed to tear down the old Yankee Stadium.
When it was repaired George Stienbrenner spent a game sitting under the repaired beam. Proof it was safe.

I was at the game at Shea. You could pretty much sit anywhere you wanted.
🧢
Yeah, tickets were being given away for $1 dollar and the people who bought them were sitting on the field level seats.
They technically played two entire seasons at Shea Stadium, in 1974 & 1975. But that was a temporary home, so different from this.
1:09 check it out!😂
Bruh did u watch the video he talked about that
Never forget the 1975 season where the Mets, Jets, Yankees and Giants all played home games at Shea. At least the Cosmos played at another stadium, Giants moved to the meadowlands in 1976 and the Jets joined the Giants in Giants Stadium in 1984.
I saw the Marlins play a home game at Comiskey park in 2003.. They played the Expos, it was pretty cool.
I went with my father, was crazy to go to. The big apple not coming out of the hat was hysterical
The Marlins in 2011 were the home team here in Seattle because they had double-booked SunLife Stadium with a U2 concert
Another irony to consider regarding the whole Shea Stadium situation.....
For nearly a decade, the New York Yankees once shared a National League ballpark with a fellow NY franchise. Prior to the opening of original Yankees Stadium in April of 1923, the team called The Polo Grounds home. That was the original home of the New York Baseball Giants.
During the early 60's, the New York Mets also called the Polo Grounds home while Shea Stadium was under construction. So having a National and American League ballclub play home games on the same day in the same area isn't such a foreign concept.
Hope you cover the famous one day doubleheader in 2000 when the Yankees played the Mets at Shea in the afternoon. Then went over the Triborough Bridge by bus and played a night game at Yankees Stadium.
Let's just say, the night game is mostly remembered due to a pitcher, a hitter, and a shattered bat!😂❤
Somewhat right. The night game was when Clemens drilled Piazza in head, setting up drama in World Series, when Piazza broke his bat and Clemens threw it at him. Crazy year.
Funny enough, after everything was fixed, my dad and I got 2 tickets from a friend of his that ended up being in the lodge, right where the debris had hit. Ended up being David Wells perfect game 🤷🏻♂️
That is actually really crazy what a coincidence
The guy with the sign Homeless shelter .😂😂😂 I remember us at Mets habjng fun with this day
Thanks for the video
I remember going to the day game at Shea Stadium. Me and my brother hid in the bathroom after it ended then watched the mets game at night.
Remember this well. It was section 22 mezzanine with the falling concrete from the upper deck. George Steinbrenner sat in that section after the repair was made and bought the entire section hot dogs.
Hey, I was at this game! The next day my grandparents called my parents telling us to look at the New York Times. Me, my 2 friends, and my dad were on the front page of it it as we were walking to our seats way before the game started. I still have it framed.
In 1975 all four New York team's played at Shea Stadium. In 1974 the N.Y.Giants played at the Yale Bowl in New Haven Connecticut but moved to Shea in 1975 so in 75 the New York Mets, Yankees, Jets and Giants all used Shea as home. The Jets moved to Giant Stadium in the mid 80's. Only in New York
When Tampa had a hurricane the Yankees played an away game against Tampa at Citi Field. Believe it was 9/11/2017
I also remember the Angels being involved in a road game at Miller Park vs the Indians, not the Brewers lol
The Yankees played at Shea in 1974 and 1975 they couldn't wait for those 2 seasons to end
1998 Yankees season was crazy to think when this team hit their stride they were not the #1 story
I was at this game!
I did not know about this
FINALLY A YANKEES VIDEO! YANKEES FAN STAND UP!
Just wait until the Giants videos come out on TouchdownStudios
It’s not that rare, Yanks played 2 years at Shea, Mets started out playing at the Polo Grounds. Even the Jets used to play at Shea.
I was at yankees game at shea
So THAT is why they wanted a new stadium.
Yankees played two seasons at Shea when the old Yankee stadium was getting renovated
Was at this game. Tickets for the upper deck seats were 2 dollars.
4 dollars to see that Strawberry 🍓 Home run.
How did they start the Yankees gear at the Shea stadium clubhouse stores and get it there in time for the game.
How did they sell the Yankees gear at the Shea stadium clubhouses and get it there in time?
It's like that time the Blue Jays played a home game in Anaheim.
Skipped class to go to this game
9:05 is that Cecil Fielder?
Yes
They made shea look better than the Mets
2:54 bro had to make sure everyone knew 6 inches was large 😏
Why did the Mets were a home team at Yankees stadium in 2020?
A Yankees at Mets game got postponed, so when the Mets traveled to yankee stadium later that month, they just played both games at yankee stadium.
It was 2020 so it was safer for everyone not to travel.
@@walkoffstudios yea but it was in ny not in another state cause remember traveling to certain states or coming back from those states you had to quarantine
Sounds like a total rip of the jaguars guy lol
Agreed; didn't know if this was a third channel.
@@HHSGDFootballJPD I'm glad you commented I was looking for this video to show jag guy
You should go into why the Rangers and Astros played at Tampa. They could’ve switched a home and home but Rangers refused
I remember that vaguely, everybody was livid with the Rangers for a solid month.
Why should the Rangers be forced to give up a weekend home series for a weekday series? Astros aren’t entitled to our stadium.
@@niclazzari2309 it was the easiest solution.
You should examine why the Cubs-at-Astros game was played at Milwaukee instead, thus turning it into a defacto home game for the Cubs and lining the pockets of the Selig family.
@@Jobuwins92 Like installing cameras in center field?
Never forgive what the rangers did to the astros. They chose to be greedy and not swap series while people were dying. Pathetic franchise
Wow I went to that game Yankees and Angels I remember Darryl strawberry hit a homerun and the Apple they lifted it up but not all the way where you couldn't see the Mets name just the city
