- Building the perfect overland expedition vehicle is a labor intensive project, and particularly challenging when you have a 3 month deadline. In this episode I begin to prep the truck for the fabrication of the rear habitat, wash & paint the chassis and underbody & install LED lights.
Follow along as I completely outfit and custom fabricate my home on wheels. In this video series I will detail all of the components and build steps that go into completing the ultimate overland expedition vehicle build.

Just went by you today in the middle of absolutely nowhere Cabo!
Ha! You sure did!
Can't wait for this series of videos. You consistently smash it out the park with every single one of your builds and I bet this one was no different!
Thank you. Really appreciate it. Loving this one so far!
Looking forward to this series! Truck looked awesome at Overland East.
Thank you! Excited to share.
Can't wait to follow along on this build. I am sure your loving the 6x6.
Thank you so much. As much as I really liked the last rig this new truck has been awesome so far. Can't really see much room for improvement at this point.
Thanks for sharing the process with us. Can’t believe you finished it in such a short amount of time. Very impressive.
Thank you. It was pretty difficult to be honest. Too short of a time frame to be sane.
REALLY looking forward to the coming videos. I really like this platform you use for your trucks.
Thank you. It has proven to be a very rugged one.
Look forward to seeing the build and the Toy Hauler edition. Our RV is a 2003 model with the CAT 3126E. Great engine with the turbo @330HP. The HEUI fuel system has know issues, but just keep that oil changed frequently!
Thank you. I have heard that too. Will watch it.
Aaaaaand we’re off! Nice! 🧡
We are off!!! Thanks for all of the help. Now just have to get the videos out! 😂
Wow! This will be an interesting build series! I have seen the end result, so it will be amazing to see what is involved to make something like this happen. The attention to detail is beyond belief!!!
Thank you! Hope all is well. Talk soon.
Well done, looking forward to the whole project videos. Having fun in Mexico!!!
Thank you! Good to be back on the tube.
so glad you are back. i look forward to the rest of the series. best of luck on the editing.
Thanks for the support.
Nice job. I'm so happy to see this build series finally. Thanks
Thank you.
İ am happy to see you again. After a long time.
Thank you. Good to be back.
Good for you Mike!! Loving the vids. Hope you come back to The Muddy Chef next summer.
Ya never know! Rover is still back east!
Hey Mike, what’s the name of your pet blue jay in the background making all that noise 😂thanks for the share👌🏽👍🏽🖖🏾🙏🏽
Ha. I don’t know. But the birds sure were active! Hope all is well.
So funny i was just wondering where you went ? Glad you've made it down to your Fav. spot 🤘 great to have seen you at the expo , a busy time ; that truck build is sooooo COOL. hope our paths cross again , mean while i'll catch your Vids. Happy Holiday Season ~peace~
Loving Baja with some down time. See you on the road somewhere I am sure.
Niiice! I’m not an overlander but appreciate your passion! That tire doesn’t look that heavy. lol! Curious, how heavy is it?
I think the wheel and tire combo probably weigh around 300 pounds.
Need more videos
Love from GOD'S OWN COUNTRY❤
Thank you for watching. Many more coming.
Awesome video and look forward to many more and you gotta trust a man with crocs😅 I will be looking to your videos as I hopefully next year start on a M1079.
Best of luck doing a build. Ha ha, crocs all the way!!
The wall insulation on the box looks to be about 1". Is that about right?
The wall insulation is actually 2 inches thick. The ceiling and floor are more.
Saw some sneak peeks of it while you were at the Expo. With the extra space you are never going to want tp pay for a hotel room again. Glad you stuck with the orange exterior paint scheme. Been tempted to do my 34 year old Class A RV in orange when I get to that part of the remodel/ rebuild. But I think my 37 foot big girl will look like an Allied Van Lines moving truck if I went orange on it.
Ha ha. That might be true at 37 feet!
What are the dimensions of the new shell?
The new habitat box measures 21 feet 3 inches long by 8 feet (exterior)
With a nice 8$ per Gallo Diesel here in Europe you will judge the vehicle choice differently, I guess.
+ road toll of course.
I don’t think so. Europe is a small anomaly.
Europe = small?
near 600 Million people.
Prices in Africa are not so different with some exceptions - but all are more expensive than the US.
Same if you go from here to Japan via land.@@drivetheglobe
Nice my wife and I been waiting to see the build process and since you in Baja just in case puerto Nuevo has some really great lobsters 🦞 😁 be safe
Have to check that out. Thanks for tuning in.
