  • with Robert Dobkin, Vice President of Engineering & CTO
Bob Dobkin explains how analog design is unique from digital, and why it is essential for analog designers to develop experience in analog design. He points out that good analog engineers are in demand and will always have a job. Also discussed is the importance of finding good in-depth articles and information resources on analog circuits, including layout and construction of the circuits.

It's true! It was almost distracting to watch, trying to figure out which databooks those were over his right shoulder. Nat Semi Linear Applications was my best guess.

LOL, I was actually stopping and starting and expanding while watching this entire interview trying to see what he has for reading material. A lot of what is visible, surprisingly, I have. I was trying to see what was behind Mr Dobkin's shoulder, but just could not quite make it out. What I did NOT see was original edition of National Semi's Linear Applications Volume 1. Yes, I have one. My first electronics instructor gave it to me. he said I was a lot more interested in this stuff than he was.

Analog electronics engineering - in my opinion is to know your V, I, R relationship really really really well. It seems obvious, but when you build a circuit, it isn't!! Especially when you need to do it really really really fast!!

I think every analog designer has that Horowitz book.

an analogue computer would be beautiful right now.
