It's Diana pronounced 'Dee-Anna'. I'm an older guy, 73 years young if you will, child of an operatic soprano mother who recently passed at 97. Having grown up traveling the world until just recently, I've heard far more than the majority of the populace and I am constantly amazed at the raw talent we find no matter where we might be. There is one thing I've learned when it comes to unique singers and that is that being ignorant of who they are, I must learn as much as I can of their 'back story'.
That being said, the more I learned of Diana's back story, the more I am in wonder that she can even function as wonderfully as she does. What an awesome talent and attitude of klife. That also says a lot about her adoptive family. You are correct, it just makes you wonder where she will be in the next 10 years. My wife and I wish her incredible success.
Thanks for your time and reaction for Diana! She is 17 yrs old on May 31, of this year. I believe she had just turned 15 for this performance. After winning the show You Are Super, a show for disadvantage children, she received voice instruction from a prominent vocal coach in Moscow. She lost 2 tones during puberty and was restricted during the show. Since having the voice lessons, she has gained them back plus added to to bottom as well. She currently is auditioning for Gitis music college in Moscow. Diana is a true contralto voice type at 17, 3 types of contraltos and she falls into dramatic type. I suggest listening to her more recent releases this year, cover of Take On Me by Aha shows her full range. Believe she sings and sustains an E5 head voice a few times.

What do u mean by losing 2 tones and then recovering?..once you voice deepens..how can u recover that...u can say..u can try to sing in a higher range..she is going to a little higher pitch imao...I think she said all these things in her qna in his alternate channel

Please say who proved she is a contralto - many have said and I tend to believe them but is there proof?
She has mentioned it herself in an interview some years ago...I'll see if I can recall who the interviewer was.

@@ultrax2002 Yes - but not closed. There are others who say she may be mezzo or doubt it. Just because some vocal, and here I stress some, trainers say so doe not make it true. Is there empirical evidence?
A resounding No!! As I said I wish it to be true but so many are saying so without any proof whatsoever - just "say so". Some people say she was left at 3, others 4 - the fact that she said herself is proof. That is all I ask - is that too much in these times?

The fact is that when other singers evaluate her, no one tells them before viewing that she is a contralto - they come to this conclusion themselves. Now that puberty has passed, Diana's voice has become even thicker, more powerful. However, due to growing up, her voice lost a little range, in the upper notes, so Diana trained a lot in the winter with the best vocal teacher in Moscow to restore the range. The record in may of her covers: "Havana" and "Take on Me"is a Testament to what they did.

On Diana's channel you will find many videos from 10 years in the past to today ... all wonderful. Your voice before the voice break is slightly higher, but still very low for a child.
Diana was born May 2003. 31 in Arsenyev in the Far East Russia. Diana has non-Slavic roots: father, Azerbaijanis; Mother, indigenous people of the Niwchen in Russia and Japan. (The Niwchen are considered the indigenous people of the northern Amur region.)
Diana didn't have a happy start in life. Her biological mother is an alcoholic, had 12 pregnancies, only Diana survived ... but the woman who gave her birth did not want Diana either, mistreated her severely and tried to drown her. Relatives found the girl with a broken collarbone on the street and took the 3-year-old girl to a children's home shortly thereafter. Only then did she find love… with Irina Ponik, who worked in the children's home and who became, what I call, Diana's “real mother”. Diana was adopted by her at the age of 5 and has been living in a poor but loving family ever since. She was far behind in her language development and so, on the advice of a doctor, she received singing lessons.
In 2012, the family moved thousands of kilometers away, to Togliatti, because Diana did not let go of the fear, that the woman, who gave her birth, would take her away.
Diana's voice and sense of rhythm were extraordinary even as a child and she won over 50 competitions in Togliatti and the surrounding area. Her confidence grew, her voice continued to develop, and Diana's stage costumes swallowed up the family budget. So, her mother completed a sewing course and has been sewing all the clothes herself since then.
One day Diana was advised to take part in competitions further away, so that the other children also had a chance to win.
Diana convinced with her talent and her voice in numerous national and international competitions, the Chinese competition for young artists and the competition 'Talents of Wolgaland'.
She is a multiple winner of the Grand Prix of all-Russian and international singing competitions.
2011 - Gold medal in the competition for young artists in China
2014 - silver vote in the all-Russian competition 'Talents of the Volga'
2016 - Grand Prix at the international 'Crystal Gift' competition
2017 - Gold Medal at the All-Russian Youth Delphic Games
2017 - Grand Prix of the Moscow Time Festival
2017 - I have a Laureate Diploma in the 'ART PREMIUMPEOPLE AWARDS'.

To the general surprise, none of the judges turned around but the whole audience gave 'standing ovation'. The next day, a huge scandal broke out on the Internet. People demanded for Diana's participation in the competition.
In 2017 Diana won the gold medal at the 'All-Russian Youth Delphic Games'. She won in the category 'pop singing' - became the first of 39 participants.
So, Diana went to Moscow and won the international competition 'You are Super' in 2018 and 2019. A unique project, that was created especially for adopted and orphaned children. The competition consists of several qualifying rounds.

The final of the international singing competition for children 'You are super!' Takes place in the Kremlin Palace. There the finalists will be announced the names of the participants in the “Children's New Wave”, the “Junior Eurovision” and the winner of the audience award, which will be selected by 11 participating countries.
The winner of the season is determined by a 6-day viewer vote, in which not only Russians, but also residents of the CIS countries take part, all viewers of the TV show.
After Diana Ankudinova won the competition 2018 und 2019 season, Igor Krutoi (mentor and jury member of the competition) presented her an apartment in Moscow so that she could continue her vocal training with the best teachers.
In 2018 she also became a crowd favorite at the “Children's New Wave” festival
The broken voice made her voice darker and deeper. She works hard to get back the high notes that have been lost. She will soon finish school and will probably start a university studying. Her fans gifted her a home studio and so she is currently (corona time) experimenting a lot with different genres of music and appears again and again on large but also on small stages. Interesting music. It sounds exotic to my ear. Is that from Russian folk music? Reminds me of New Age music; it's spacy and ethereal. Personally, although I get why people love it, I couldn't make a steady diet of this kind of music. Diana deserves all the accolades for her unusual voice.

If you go East of Moscow across the Urals and over to Vladivostok you come across many different ethnic groups - Tadjiks, Tatars, Eveni, Evenki, Nentsi, Buryats and many other - of which their oral tradition (some of which is also Aleutian in nature and origin) has such voice patterns as you describe. The rich culture of Russia seeks to include these traits and not hide them; hence the variety you can find. If you watch Diana's take on "Take on Me" the old Aha hit you will discover, and I feel you will find it a pleasant discovery, that Diana can now produce a really sweet shimmering high tone - you will be surprised, I promise. Happily, but surprised. Thanks for your input and curiosity. I talk language and you talk music and in that there is common ground!!

You should come back and listen to your humming compared to her tone...her tones are incredibly lower. On a recent interview with an American Musician he asked if she would come to the US to perform...she said she would if she was asked. She stated she’s attending secondary school and working on higher notes as it was easy for her to sing the lower ones. Thanks for posting this Reaction.
