  • Cardiovascular disease remains the number one killer for both men and women and shockingly, half of these individuals experience no prior symptoms before an event. Low levels of nitric oxide-a molecule that promotes vasodilation and smooth blood flow-could be primarily responsible. By recognizing the signs of deficiency, we can raise our levels and lower our risk.
Today on The Dhru Purohit Show, Dhru sits down for round two with Dr. Nathan Bryan to discuss why nitric oxide is the holy grail of molecules for long-term health. Dr. Bryan shares the four hallmarks of disease, the consequences of antacid overuse, and the correlation between lower nitric oxide and the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Bryan also explains which lifestyle factors can hinder and boost nitric oxide production, how to test your levels, and symptoms that signal a deficiency.
Dr. Nathan Bryan is a renowned biomedical researcher known for his groundbreaking work on nitric oxide (NO) biology. Dr. Bryan's research has significantly advanced our understanding of NO's critical roles in cardiovascular health, immune function, and neurobiology. Beyond academia, he advocates for public health, translating his research into practical solutions for improving human health.
In this episode, Dhru and Dr. Bryan dive into:
-Nitric oxide as the holy grail
    -Four hallmarks of disease
-Antacid medications: lack of research and the consequences of extended use
-Lower nitric oxide and the risk of Alzheimer’s
-Lifestyle habits that contribute to Alzheimer’s and biomarkers to check
-What is nitric oxide and its core role in our bodies
-Lifestyle factors that hinder nitric oxide production
-Nitric oxide and high blood pressure
-Filtering water in your home and oral dysbiosis
-Navigating antacid medication usage and tapering off
    -Testing nitric oxide level production
-The role of stress on our nitric oxide levels
    -Foods that support production
    -Nitric oxide supplementation
    -Development of pharmaceuticals

Patients did not take the Proton INHIBITORS unknowingly, they were knowingly prescribed by their doctors to take Protons inhibitors. Patients needed at the time prescription from the doctor to go on this drug. The doctors are knowingly helping the PHARMA industry & prescribe whatever they dream to accomplish in this regard. I was prescribed Pepcid AC in 1998 by an EAR doctor who said that my tongue was whitish bc of the acid reflux, though I went to see him for an ear infection & I had no such symptoms. Years later I decided on my own to stop taking this medication, bc it was indeed causing acid reflux. Later on, I suffered a heart block which was definitely the result of taking this medication. No one in my family had ever suffered of heart problems. Unfortunately, some doctors do not represent the interest of the patient. However, I loved the interview. Thank you!!!

Usually if your tongue is whitish, it is candida. Remember most Dr's are practitioners and guess who they are practicing medicine on? You and I! In other words they are making their best guess of what medicine to give to us but they have no idea how your body will react to this because in reality it's just and experiment!

Outstanding interview! The information presented was very informative. Also, we need more information concerning the beauty products and the foods we are consuming that are causing harm. There are so many concerns that negatively affects our health. One big concern should be the harmful pesticides farmers are allowed to use on our food supply that are harmful to consume. Reportly, the materials companies are using to make bottles for bottled water are harmful to our health, the majority of preseratives used to maintain the shelf life of packaged foods are harmful and mostly not recommended for human consumption in large amounts. Further as reported wild caught fish is better to eat than processed meats and it has been reported that wild caught fish and fish products contain high levels of mercury and other chemicals that may cause health problems and shouldn't be consumed in large. The detriment harm of consuming processed sugar is almost incomprehensible. The side effects of pharmaceutical medications are sometimes worse than the diagnosis. Simply breathing the air in our environment today can cause serious health problems. Thinking about these issues and how to avoid harmful products is a daunting task. Over the years I have learned so much from various Doctors and others who are speaking out and giving us truthful information about what's causing so many life threatening illnesses today. And, it's amazing to learn about the foods we are consuming and everyday products we are using that are destroying our well-being and opportunities for us to have healthier life style. The bigger question should be who or what organization is sincerely providing nutritional guidelines to best benefit the health and well-being of the people?

Japan, South Korea, French Polynesia, Andorra, Switzerland, Australia, Singapore, Italy.
Notice that no people, no country appears in the top 10 in both categories. Nitric Oxide may well keep you healthy, but there is little statistics to show that you will live longer. There are way too many factors, eating green vegetables, not using mouth wash are useful tips to good health, but there are a multitude of other contributing factors to good health and longevity.

I we compare apples to apples, two similar countries, Croatia has an incidence of Alzheimer of 7.99 and Italy an incidence of 14.86, that is around 90% more.

So I was diagnosed T2 diabetic 12 months ago. What spurred my visit to the Dr was my ED. I have utterly changed my life since then. I have dropped 40lbs. I exercise nearly everyday of the week now. My workouts include lifting running rucking and my F3 nation workouts. I eat a whole food diet. I do the 16-8 diet. I have lost 6 inches off my waist.
I am at 215lbs and 6 ft 1in tall and 49years old...so I am not the whole way there but I am destroying my old self quite effectively My T2 is almost reversed. I have started taking the NO lozenges, for 2months. My blood pressure is 130/80 which is high by this podcast. But the ED is still there but is getting better. I don't use Flouride toothpaste and I drink distilled water. I eat salads now.
What is next to finally get the ED and BP in check. Just keep fighting till I knock off that last couple pounds. Is there a heavy duty next step. I feel like I am doing everything I am supposed to be doing at this point but I am not crossing the finish line. What is next?

    • @warriorgp4640
      @warriorgp4640 Před 15 dny

I speculate a few things here:
      1. Around 70% of American men have higher than normal estrogen levels. Soy will destroy your libido. Soy has a phytoestrogen known as isoflavones. Although weak, isoflavones can wreak havoc if you are prone to estrogen dominance, or have high aromatase enzyme activity. Stay away from soy products and protein bars that contain soy.
      2. In 99% of cases of people who have ED that have done all the right things to lose weight, but still can't, have a hormonal disturbance. Either your testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, etc are too low. Go to an endocrinologist and get your hormones checked.
      3. Most people who go on diets to lose weight wind up causing metabolic disturbances due to all the food restrictions. If you are not eating enough calories or have omitted too much saturated fat, this will destroy your libido. You must get at least 10 calories per pound of body weight in daily + around 400-500 additional cals to account for your active metabolism. Calories are needed for the body to function properly, especially organ systems. Saturated fat is imperative to boost testosterone. Saturated fat creates the cholesterol that is required to make testosterone. A diet low in saturated fat will def cause ED. Around 25g daily is needed.
      4. You stated that you only have a several pounds to go. I would imagine that you may be considered a 'skinny fat' person. What is this? A skinny fat is someone who meets ideal weight standards, but most of their weight is still fat. They appear slim in clothing, but underneath are not lean. This body composition type comes from having a higher incidence of fat tissue, and too little muscle tissue. That being said, you may still meet BMI standards, but your body fat percentage may still be too high. The problem? High body fat levels, regardless of weight, will cause ED. Go get a hydrostatic fat analysis to see how much fat you are. Anything over 18% for a 49 year old male, will cause drive issues.
      5. A natural Viagra stack: 1g of arginine, 1g of horny goat weed, and 500mg L-dopa (muca pruriens). This is a powerful stack. Do not take for more than 5 days on 2 days off, or you will gain tolerance and the effects will taper off. Do your research on these natural supplements first before using. Check with your doc and make sure they don't conflict with your prescribed meds.
      Good luck!
Edit: heavy squats and deadlifts raises testosterone significantly. This is because the back and legs have the largest amount of muscle tissue. Apparently, whenever you exercise, you are seeking a hormonal stimulus. Well, when you exercise the legs and lower back, you'll get the largest hormonal stimulus, because these areas contain the largest amount of muscle tissue. 3 sets of 8-12 reps per body part.

First, Dr. Bryan, I applaud your career. You function the way that those blessed with terminal degrees, especially PhD's, should serve society--as delegated intellects. In order to have hypothesized, postulated and engaged in the processes that are necessary to the work of scholars and researchers, a lot of private time is required--think time. In the course of that, a lot of sacrifices are inevitable; so, thank you for your service. Second, I relate personally to much of what you have said about our bodies' ability to heal on their own, if we supply the needed nutrition, and incorporate other health strategies to provide the nutrition and energy for every bodily process. Third, please provide some guidance on how physical activity affects nitric oxide. What type of exercise is best for maximal production of NO? Fourth, how do measures of saturated oxygen that we see in our oximeters correlate, if at all to NO. I am 77, still very active, and take citrulline or drink watermelon juice daily, along with an extensive nutritional protocol. I am rarely tired. Sometimes, I stop only because it makes sense for a 77 year old to stop and rest. One of the essentials in my protocol is to eat only organic, NON-GMO verified, and well-researched conventionally grown produce from heirloom seeds. I do not want to pull you into a debate about genetically modified foods and the use of pesticides like glyphosate, but in my mind, this is the elephant in the room that the vast majority of scientists are reluctant to discuss. The problem with that is that diligent scholars like you may be spinning your wheels, until geneticists make up their minds to do responsible research that is independent of the vast mercenary powerhouse supporting GMO food. I say this because I do believe that NON-GMO food can heal the body, but the jury is still out as to whether GMO food can be healing or detrimental to health. Are we taking one step forward and three steps back with GMO foods, and our permissive recreational drug laws that will very likely erode the NO in our younger generation that might be using THC and other drugs? Again, thanks for your amazing work.

Seems the pancreas doesn't produce enough enzymes for proper digestion. Doctors have a name for this pancreatic enzyme deficiency. Fairly new diagnosis name.
Be sure you have enough water. Recommended is a cup of water before meals and one or two cups of water 2 hours after meals to hydrate and prevent constipation. Also, Calcium carbonate eases heartburn. Caution... Read ingredients. Avoid added toxic colors to chewable tabs. Now you have 3 easy solutions 😊😊😊 easing heartburn. To your good health. 👍

The doctor put me on it and I stopped because I started to listen to doctors on CZcams talk about how dangerous they were causing peoples bones to shatter. I start using peppermint essential oil on the tip of my tongue just a little. I’d stick my tongue in the top of the essential oil bottle no more than that and swallow. After I had taken HCL to breakdown my food 3 pills after I ate food when I was lying down, started coughing I’d stick my tongue at the top of the peppermint, essential oil bottle and swallow what was at the tip of my tongue, and no more you can’t put a whole drop of peppermint in your mouth, and swallow it’s just too much. That alone was what I did for two to three years and I don’t have a problem anymore. I used HCL with Pepin three tablets each time I ate. You’re supposed to do it before you eat but a lot of times I just ate and did it afterwards. I also stayed away from gluten is that seems to cause me to cough a lot more but I don’t have the problem anymore. I still have to take the enzymes occasionally during the day, not after every meal, and sometimes I use peppermint before lying down especially if I don’t wait three hours before I lie down after my last meal but other than that, that’s all I did and it worked for me

I am addicted to bread, could finish off one food length huge bread with avocado in a meal and not feel down. So I have finally conquered reflux and too much phlegm or mucus in my throat in the morning. Then Apple Cider spoon in a glass of water tops it off. We learn everyday!

    • @curiouscat3384
      @curiouscat3384 Před 11 dny +3

Yes we need better doctors! But if you google functional medicine doctors in your area they are rare and pretty much just in metro areas. It's not that easy to "doctor shop" - it takes months to get an appointment and rare for them to have a website that claims they practice functional medicine. And Medicare and insurances won't necessarily cover multiple wellness visits with multiple doctors over a short time period with no diagnosis. I'm super healthy but felt I should have a doctor for backup and tried a new doctor last year and let the words "functional medicine" slip during my new patient medical history interview. She reared back in her chair, flapped her hands dismissively in the air and said "just so you know I'm not a functional medicine doctor and I'm not going to do all that testing and supplements stuff". Literally. After calming down and finishing the standard checklist and lengthy lectures on why I need colonoscopy and mammogram and worry about my total cholesterol. 30 minutes later I escaped and never went back, but at least I got a few essential lab tests done. On a positive note, Dr. Mark Hyman has just launched a website called "Function Health" that supports us do-it-yourselfers, and there are a number of online mediary companies where you can order labs without a doctor's order. Go for it people - take charge!

The holy Grail is mitochondrial health, mass, density, and efficiency, which runs the entire metabolism of all constituents of all energy at the cellular level energy in our body. And the one prescription above all else, is steady state zone 2 training, which is “maximum mitochondrial expression!” This is the holy Grail above all holy Grails!
This “maximum mitochondrial expression” means maximum mitochondrial Development of the mass, density, biogenesis and efficiency of the mitochondria in our body that run the entire show, when it comes to metabolic health. Nitrous oxide is pennies in comparison to zone two specified training. Nothing is even in the ballpark!
