- In this episode of World of Warships for Beginners we go over which type of shells to use against each class in the game on a basic level. In the last episode we went over the cruiser class and their ammo guide. Hope this helps!

This playlist should be required for brand new players before being allowed to enter battles.
General rule of thumb: Use AP when cruisers or battleships are broadside. Any other angle, use HE. The exception is the Yamato and Musashi? It's possible to citadel light cruisers from the front but unreliable.
Use HE on carriers initially to get a deck fire, then switch to AP, angle permitting.
Use HE on destroyers. AP was nerfed (or repaired, depends how you look at it). It can work albeit slower... But HE reliably wrecks DDs regardless of angle quite fast.
i use AP on cruisers at all times. if cant overmatch i aim at superstructure or any part with less armor.
same vs BBs.
BB ammo rules:
1. if the guns are loaded and you have a valid target, then shoot what you have, make sure you have the ideal ammo loaded for follow up rounds.
2. if the target has under 800 health, you will either citadel for an overkill or only do their current health - 10, leaving them almost dead.
BB shooting HE to a cruiser: 380mm guns vs 27mm bows. XD

Its a BB. AP should still be your primary ammo. However against BBs not showing a broadside, HE away my friend. Most people play the RN BBs incorrect with only shooting HE. AP should still be your primary ammo
Yeah, I've seen way too many fights drag out or are even lost because players spam HE when they should be putting people down with AP hits (assuming they know where to aim -- seen too many AP shots aimed at angled targets with no chance of doing real work).
Oh, of course. I was kidding about RN BB HE. Hell, I'm 95% AP in Nelson, DoY, Warspite, and Hood.
