  • In this video we will see, which country has received the most points in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest. Updated for the 2024 edition after Switzerlands win in Malmö. In this video, all points from all the shows are considered, including the semi-finals.
Note, that during the years different voting systems have been used. Especially in recent years with the split jury and televote, there is an inflation of points. Furthermore, the number of participating countries is now much higher than in the beginning, which also results in an increased amount of points which is awarded to each country.

a bit skewed as you include points from the semi finals which the "big five" do not have any points awarded for (that's France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom). Should be grand finals only for a more accurate picture

It's wild to see Ukraine being second despite joining the race comparatively late. I hope they can keep this trend up since they always successfully excite me with their entries (beside 2017 lol).

I hope that as well 💙💛
I also liked the 2017 entry. The performance at the final wasn't that good, but the song is acutally decent. And much better than the 2012 entry... ;)

It was really interesting until I saw you added semi final points. That's nonsense when five countries (and host) auto qualfy.

It's worth noting each country was only allowed to sing in their own languages up to 1999, which affected the results a lot since some languages are just not as beautiful as others.

You have really oversimplified and skewed this as a result of including the semi finals, ie, one song can get double-points as a result.
A better way to calculate would potentially be a percentage each year of the points available to it, and the following year you sum up their points scored against total points available to it for the two years,, and so on.
Is it fair, for example, for Morocco to be at the end considering they only entered once? You are effectively penalising them giving their 7 points less and less weight over the subsequent years.

You got a point, Unfortunately, your proposed idea of calculating the percentage this way has a flaw. Because nowadays the total available points are much larger than in the beginning, this would also skew the results, favoring the most recent song contests. It would be better to calculate the average percentage of every year. I will do that for an upcoming video. Stay tuned!
