7 Days To Die Alpha 16 - The Monolith - Part 5

- After so much digging and fighting I decided to go out and explore the world. There were two places I would like to visit during this episode. The first is the strange spiky mountain thing I saw in the first episode of this series, the second is the town over the mountain, which I can see from my base. Unfortunately, the second choice will never happen, cause everytime I get near that town, the game show me an error, something about the terrain generation. I had to use a command and restart the game to avoid that error. Off camera I tried to get closer to the town and the error become worse and I couldn't load my save anymore. Gladly I always make backups. During the travel, I tried to dismantle most of the cars on the road, and start gathering engines and batteries for the electric system.
Difficult: Warrior; zombie spawn during horde night: 16; 120 minutes per day; 18 hours day cycle; loot 100% respawn 30 days;

The end of the snowy road was incredibly abrupt!! Lucky the bike survived and you took minimal damage. Can't wait to see what happens next.
Yeah, they still didn't figure it out how to fix these bugs, but in the other way, it's the same thing that created that awesome monolith :)

Exploitation of game glitches is usually a dark subject, grey at best. This circumstance could to be such a pinnacle of light that Yoda might watch with a smile! Looking forward to see what you do with the Monolith. (nice edit at 43:34 lmao ; P )
Wonderful upbeat recording! I was just a little concerned - all the way to the top of the world, and the trash got left up at that inspiring place.
I'm ok with the garbage, the only problem is there were no goodies inside :)
My fear of heights had me squirming in my chair like crazy when you were walking around on top of that monolith.... I know it's a video game, and one I love to play, but I felt nauseous and had to close my eyes when you jumped into the water. Dammit lol

the stinkin' monolit is not safe to build, it's full of sand and gravel patches and between some asphalt; i have a different seed but seeing this video i created a new world and went there, tried to lvlup the top..not safe, decayed all the way down (i assume, at least it looks like it), even if you try to reinforce, too much work and too big of a risk

I'm playing the same seed with you, and I spawned right near that monolith, one of the first things I did was collapse the smaller one which took a few minutes but was worth the haul in stone etc.

With the B119 the way to steel is much harder.
My biggest problem is the weather, since 3 days I can look no more farther than 3 m. I'm starving.....
I hope this update didn't break my skills again
Steel is broken after the update B119. Can't make steel anymore. It says "Crusible" required, which one I can build but not place in the tool section of the forge. Build a new forge also - same result.......
Solution may be reset the steel perk somethere in the profil and lern the steel perk again.

Seems the road to road connection routine definitely has an issue. I've seen level differences like 30 blocks, but this is simply amazing. :)

Did you see the new update yet? As I remembered Steel able to craft at lv40 (toolsmiting lv6) and chemistry station around lv60-70 (science lv6 or 7) Mining the small rocks on the surface still a good way to level up (feel like they nerf a bit), I mined for 1day=90mn with Steel Pick 200 and I got around 10 levels. And now the only way to get steel in day 2 is trader. Watching your vids and chill with the music really make my habit already! Great as always.

Thanks, it was more an exploration run, but I will make a real looting run on the city I have my temporary base. I was hoping to loot that town over the mountain but that error will happen again if I get close to it.

z I forgot to mention ;) check out the skyscrapers like dishong towers,first time I went in one by time I got up to the 7th floor I was so scared I was blocking every door behind me. bloody barricades, metal fences blocking everywhere and my dishong had a music stage with perfectly placed sleepers on it next to a fallen ceiling :( too bad I lost the save file or I'd give ya the seed
LOL, fear of heights is so common, what's interesting is people still become afraid knowing it's not real, like in games or virtual reality. I was hoping that town on the mountain would have one, but I will never know, because of that error when I get near it. I will have to do more exploration to find other towns.
Feeling bad about all the problems alpha 16 has, now. Hope nothing else goes wrongs. I'll always enjoy your videos.

Tip: Reflection quality only affects mirror reflections, disabling it could potentially mean better FPS.
it also used to affect water :)
When stripping cars I go out to do it as bare bones of having stuff as possible but it still takes way long to make gas barrels to make way for stuff.
Z, how did you do the debugging bit? In my game, I found a good spot to build a base, but I kept on getting bugged.
You have to fly away from the bad chunk region, using the DM command and reload your game.
Sometimes procedural maps can generate weird things, but like this monolith and the invisible barrier, I've never seen this before....
By the way, concerning survival games, did you ever try The Forest?

another awesome episode Z! funny seeing a block of grass at the top of the spike at the monolith. did you ever find out where the light was coming from when you were building the garden? Just a heads up, in b115 my minibike is underground now, while it was parked on the road....and I downloaded b119 and in the forge where the caliper icon was, it's replaced by some other icon...looks like a clay bowl or something. Keep up the great work man, we all love the shit out of your videos!

You should definitely at some point build a base on top of that. And of course zombie proof the bottom so it never gets destroyed.
I think the place is so high that zombies will never spawn :)

Randomly generated seeds in this game can be pretty crazy.

I've had some bad roads, but that monolith was just horrible. I've commented somewhere before, but my road made a canyon and I did an Evel Knievel jump into the wall of the canyon and died.
Did you put a new bedroll down? I wonder where spawning near your bed would put you.
I updated the spawn point in my temporary base :)
i still play on alpha 15 because got i got really far with a couple of my friends and you don't understand how happy i got when i saw you can craft machetes now :)
Yeah, but it's recipe is really far ahead in the skill tree. You need at least level 120 to get it :)

hey Z just something to try. about that line that appears and the game crashes. could you perhaps place a block on it to see if it would go? I've seen other youtubers doing it on A15 but I'm not sure if it would work on A16 but try it and fingers crossed it works
