    My personal opinion is to live close to your work. It will all make sense once you calculate the expenses and convenience. When I moved from Calgary a month back, I chose to live in Vancouver downtown coz my work is in Yaletown. You just have to find a good affordable room. I got a room for $850 plus my work is walking distance. The best thing about downtown is everything you need is there. There are groceries, restaurants and a beautiful park.

    • @rrdancel
      @rrdancel  Před 3 lety +5

      Hi Jan, thank you for sharing your experience. $850 for a place close to downtown? What a steal! Yes, you're right - although Vancouver is considered a relatively expensive city to live in, there are plenty of ways around it. You can definitely live here without breaking the bank if you are smart with finances. I will probably talk about finances later on on my channel. But again, thank you for your input. Take care! :D

      @desantiaxion Před 2 měsíci

      Hey bud how you feel about prices now? You have an interesting and very precise view on the way you should be living very close to your work I think I've heard this rhetoric before....
      Perhaps the suggestion of you know 15 minutes or less works for you😅 is that kind of what you're doing right now😂
      Soon the disparity between your ability to travel and what you work and make will make it so that you won't be able to leave at all and then definitely stay exactly where you are.😮
      Good luck.

      Definitely anywhere in the downtown Vancouver area but rent is premium there! Since the school is easily accessible being right across a train station with a high traffic area, you may consider looking at Vancouver’s neighbouring cities like Burnaby, New West or Richmond - relatively cheaper rent options, but school is still within reach via bus/train!

    • @rrdancel
      @rrdancel  Před rokem +2

      Yes, there are plenty of advantages if your doctor plans on moving to Vancouver with relatives living there as well. First, you may be able to save on accommodation given that there is a possibility to live with relatives. It’s also a good question for your daughter to transition with less challenges, knowing that she has a support system on her side. Finally, interns of job opportunities, and building a social network - your daughter can definitely get that in Vancouver! Overall, it’s a no-brainer for me if she considers to pursue studies in one of the best cities in the world 😊💕

It’s also nestled at the heart of downtown Vancouver (which is the pride and joy of the city). As for the programs offered in that university....I am not familiar sorry. I used to like Vancouver but not anymore, so does my wife and so do my 3 daughters! The weather is why we plan to leave for good but also the expensive rents! I also heard about horror stories at many hospitals (and yes, I have worked in Africa and to be honest, Africans hospitals are way more functional than the ones in Canada in terms of human aspect… there they care, Canadians do not give a shit about anyone!!! I am saying this as a Belgian)! I have some African colleagues at work here and 80 percent of them either want to go back to Africa or move to Europe as soon as they get enough experience in canada)! Same go for most of my French colleagues as well who really want to head off back to Europe as soon as they finish their contract. Almost None of us at work , including me, want to retire or get old here in Canada and endure loneliness in a country that is far from Europe! None of us want to endure the triage way at Canadian hospitals or wait for months to get a surgery (in Europe, we do not have to face that) and beyond everything, None of us want to get pensions that can cover our cost of living… but for that, I have to come back to France or Belgium where it come from. So sorry Canada!

      Depends on the location. But generally, it’s more expensive since it’s near an area where there’s a lot of foot traffic. Expect $1,000 to $3,000 per month. I gave such a wide range bc price is location dependent too.

A suite 1 bedroom to a whole house that will be up up to $ 5000. There is no cheap rent in vancover anywhere. Simple. So you need to make good money to live here if you expect your own apartment it will cost you at least $ 1300 anywhere lowermainland

      Very true. Cost is quite high in Vancouver. Also to note, there more skilled work in bigger cities like Vancouver and Toronto. That is why many people move to big cities to find those skilled jobs. Because of this, it increases competition for housing, which drives up the price for housing.

      I got those rent numbers from Liv.rent and CMHC, which are very reputable sources. They hire researchers and statisticians, so I did not conjure this number from out of nowhere. You should be happy because you’re renting below market rent, which is due to various factors like location, size of apartment, amenities available in your apartment, the condition of your apartment and other various factors. So if you don’t like the number, then i don’t know what to tell you because this based on reliable research. So this is not misinformation, brother.
