will they release a version for windows 8.1?
Anyone else having issues downloading it? I can't download it for some reason. From the "check updates" in Musescore 3, or from the website.
@@superhotnutjob Anche io ho problemi come te a scaricarlo
@@superhotnutjob I can't download it for windows 8 and had same problem in musescore 3 from updates.
I hope for the 32 bytes🙏🏻🥺
tantacrul critiquing then joining musescore and making it incredible is one of the most interesting things to happen on youtube imo
Best way to improve your product is to hire its thoughtful and capable critics.
musescore said "you don't like our system? we'd like to see you do better" and martin said "ok"
@@superhotnutjob Well said.
biggest madlad of all time. also shows how musescore was actually open to improving unlike some other software he critiqued
It's the beauty of Open Source Software. I'm just so happy that him and the MuseScore core dev team hit it off so well, bc this collaboration is empirically improving the world rn
I hope they make a new playback mode where they get real people to play the music from wherever you hit play from (available 24/7 and free, of course)
Well AI is likely going to become sentient within our lifetime, so you may just get your wish. Course, now that opens up a whole can of worms on whether forcing sentient AI to play music on command is digital slavery...
EDIT: Guys, come on, use context clues. This is a response to someone's joke about how they want real people to play music for them on demand. Yes, obviously, using non-sentient AI would fix the problem. But that doesn't play into the joke about using real people to provide a free service on demand, now does it?
There should be a hyper realistic setting where, when you stop playback, some instruments keep going for a bar or two, as if the players weren't watching the conductor
@@applesarefum that and the players keeping getting mad at you for stopping and extending the session. 🤣
@@imveryangryitsnotbutter AI will only do what it is programmed to do.
@@paulysguitarjournal Someone hasn't seen Ex Machina
I love how the eye icon Martin proposed in his intial MuseScore video has found its way into the program, albeit for a different function.
Lets see if theres a way to make it shival up and die as an easter egg

Musescore went from being that decent notation software you could use for free to the literal future of free music software
Can it do an orchestration by styles?
future of music software in general if the interface responsible for sending messages to Muse Sounds becomes a standard
@@OninDynamics it'd need a LOT more refinement for that tho. It's incredible for now but still riddled with bugs/errors etc. For example, if a note on a violin is too long, it will just play a shorter note twice or that it will stress random notes for no reason etc
@@gtctv7000 I'm sure there's an endless amount of work that needs to be done. The important part is how far they've already come, and that they've built a very solid foundation IMO.
Or it will be if they fix the countless bugs that render it unusable
I cannot describe how hyped I am… The new design just looks wonderful, and what on earth did we do to deserve an audio engine that sounds this great for free?!… Can't wait for it to go public - Thank you, the team, and everyone who participated and participates in development all so much for this stunning work!
They are not like apple. Musescore makes their money with the website, and makes their software free. Gigachad move tbh
How was this comment made 2 months ago? This video was released 3 days ago today...
@@sean8190 I assume this was someone who was privy to a private link while this was still in alpha or beta.
Bro I was literally sitting here freaking out and being extra hyped at 2am over a scoring software that just became more amazing than it already was. Thank you MuseScore
The improved horizontal spacing is going to make everything soooo much nicer. It's the one thing that makes almost all MS scores recognizably wonky.
The spacing was always very sketchy on the old version. I didn't like that even just spacing out bars to even them out was always a time-consuming struggle.
I’m so excited over 2:00. I’ve spent hours meticulously trying to adjust this kind of spacing manually.
this
Not only is it high quality it's OPEN SOURCE. This is something I strongly believe in. Technology and information should be accessible (I say this as a Wiktionary editor)
I actually had to double check that this was indeed open source software. These are upgrades that should put paid alternatives on notice.
@@HansvandeBruggen I’m not sure if Muse Hub is open source though.
They’ve got to fund a team of full-time employees somehow. That’s ok.
@@peterwmdavis hm?
it is ok to have it for a small fee - the developers should be paid for their hard work, especially for such a great tool, they don't eat air after all. :)
The fact that this video is only 4 minutes when it feels like it was 10 minutes long with all the information packed..... you guys wrote and edited this video extremely well
I literally had to check the video length to see if this was legit
I can't believe it's only 4 minutes. lol
four minutes for musecore 4, how fitting :D also this looks wonderful
I don’t even use MuseScore (Sibelius user), but I’m still jazzed about all the upgrades it’s receiving. The new audio engine and VST integration in particular are killer. Super happy for MS users. I’m also happy that this is gonna create more stiff competition in the scorewriter app space, especially from a free alternative - maybe it’ll crank up the heat under _certain_ paid-app developers to up their game. I’m _avidly_ awaiting what comes next.
Ahaha i see what you did there
Sibelius crashed
@@bonbondojoe1522 HOW DID YOU KN- oh
@Nathaniel Walker MuseScore Pro doesn't affect the software, it only affects the cloud website. You have all features unlocked without paying. (It's $72 a year or $6 a month)
@Nathaniel Walker As a musescore user, i fully agree that Sibelius is better. i use muse score because poor
"new all, forever" as a callback to what started this all made me more emotional than it shouldve lol. so excited to play around with all the new features!!
Can you give me a timestamp? Apparently I completely missed that
@@KanashimiMusic It's the sheet music at 00:38 - for the benefit of future readers it's a reference to this video:

I honestly want to hear what new all, forever sounds like now
literally every change mentioned had me saying "oh FINALLY"
To Tantacrul and the whole Musescore team who put thousands of hours into this, thank you! Your work is appreciated by so many, so incredibly proud to say I’ve been supporting musescore since 1.0
This is amazing. Long live to musescore and open source software. Thank you to all the people who put energy time and effort towards this.
Honestly they’re like imbuing their soul into it. Had that happen to me at a hackathon once, was a bit trippy
I’ve been using museacore since around 2017 and this feels like Christmas. Thank you so much for working to keep this on par (if not worlds better) than finale and Sibelius and keeping it free! This is beyond perfect and I love all the people who made this possible!! Thank you!!! ❤❤❤
I mean, it _is_ about Christmas time, so, you're not wrong! 🎀✨🎉
I feel the same! Ive been using Musescore since 2014 and this is beyond Amazing. I feel like my whole life will change with this amazing upgrade
A prime example of why FOSS is a necessity! Everyone can have access to a professional level notation and engraving software. Great job to the MuseScore team and community!
I'd love to use their QML framework, but I cannot commit to GPL on my work :(
@@RoamingAdhocrat Why not?
@@MrGamelover23 If a work uses GPL for its license, _all_ other derivatives stemming from it must also be GPL
Perhaps they work for a company that does proprietary software, i dunno
@@RoamingAdhocrat But QML is not their's. It comes from Qt framework which is licensed as LGPL, not GPL.
@@morsikpl I'm pretty sure they mean the framework that they built using QML
YES MARTIN! This looks great! Can’t wait ❤🎉
Wow!! This looks and sounds amazing! I’m currently using a paid product but when Musescore 4 becomes available I will be selling it. Huge thank you to everyone that has worked so hard in making this product!!
The VST3 instruments makes me unreasonably excited in and of itself, let alone the other improvements!
One thing I’d like to see overhauled is the accidental notation system. Currently, when you apply an microtonal accidental (half sharp, 31EDO accidentals, etc) - it doesn’t do anything. You have to manually go into the menu and change the tuning of the note by yourself. This can be a real difficult process when working on, or creating projects that aren’t written with the standard 12-TET system. If these types of accidentals actually changed the note like the regular sharps or flats, I think it would be appreciated by a lot of people.
I can’t imagine this being too complicated to implement - definitely something we will look into as we improve our features for contemporary music notation 🙂
Seconded, microtonal accidentals are something I do use occasionally, and I know people who use them a lot - and it would be quite an improvement to have them be more than just cosmetic.
As a Dorico user myself, I'm beyond excited for MuseScore's future. If you guys ever create an automatic condensing feature like the one currently found in Dorico, I think I could totally switch to MuseScore for good. Huge respect to the hard work you've all been doing - I'll be watching you folks with great interest in the coming year
I will stay with the original and support Doricos developer team. All announced ideas appeared on dorico first. This makes me not use MuseScore anymore from a moral point of view.
@@Matzix3012 let me just load up Microsoft Paint instead of Photoshop because they made the original tools first
@@Matzix3012 Let me get out my stone and chisel because they made writing and drawing first, can’t use any kind of writing implement or software that blatantly PLAGIARIZES the inventions of our ancestors.
@@Matzix3012 "you stole my idea" playground insults. There's nothing immoral about doing something that someone else also did--there is no ethical requirement for all ideas to be one hundred percent original. Of course someone else did it first, these are solved problems. Question always is, can you do it better?
@@Matzix3012 it's called healthy competition and it's not like they stole their code, you know.
I’ve been using Musescore since around 2014, and it still boggles my mind how such amazing software can still be free!!! This update is the most exciting yet! Props to the development team, they really knocked it out of the park 🎉🎼🎵
It's honestly crazy that this is free. You guys are fostering the creativity of countless musicians now
the orchestral plugin is INCREDIBLE. can't imagine the amount of work put into getting such a lively, in-concert sound
It's nice, but I'm worried about feature creep. I normally just notate in MuseScore, export as MIDI and then import it into a DAW and get it sounding better than Musescore ever could.
@@pikachuchujelly7628 just you listen to some of my MuseScore 4 pieces of classical composers.
As a young composer and musician, you can’t even start to think how hyped and excited I am after finding out and trying out Musescore 4 for the first this Friday afternoon. This is is game changing for all of us! I immediately noticed not a small ….but BIG difference in my scores after installing the new sounds. Interface is simpler than it was even in v3.6
Thank you so much! For you and the rest of the Musescore team, hard work pay off.
I am so thankful for the higher quality instrument selection. I've mostly moved on to more conventional DAWs but the difficulty it takes to find good plugins with a budget of $0 kills lots of projects, and MS's wide selection can be a lifesaver
This goes above and beyond what anyone would expect from free notation software. Really well done! Can't wait to play with the new version
This looks incredible! Lots of features the community’s been asking for for a while, great job!
This is beyond inspiring. I'm lost for words. Thank you Tantacrul and the Musescore team!!
I can’t wait for the beta to be released ! I am so hyped !

Congratulation! The tool was awesome already and you even put more awe into it. Well done.
The new souds are stunning! And the update came RIGHT. PERFECT.
I was able to create an awesome composition for a school project even though I wasn't so much into compositing at all. :D
Has anyone told the dev's that they are the coolest people. Can someone please give them a hug and a high five from me?

Amazing update! Can't wait to try it out :)
Wow... just.. wow! This update elevates Musescore to just another level. Well done!
The hype is really big. Can't wait for the new orchestral playback. Also, one big improvement for the next big upgrade would be easier support for contemporaray notation, other than that musescore is the best composing/engraving software
So wonderful. Incredible news and fantastic upgrade. I couldn't be more stoked.
Wow, it looks great! I'm a user since long time and all these new features are exciting! Thanks!
Great work! MuseScore has matured tremendously under Martin's leadership. I can't wait for what new releases bring.
omfg the new "museSounds" sounds pretty damn good, like something I've been waiting for years!
now the only thing that Im missing is the Video Suport
and I can practically re-structure my Film-scoring pipeline, but that does not bother me because I pretty shure you guys will deliver it sometime in the near future!
It's been awhile since I have done anything music. But watching you guys do such great process is amazing and I nearly cried. Coming from using the original MuseScore 1 to here is beyond anything. I love what you guys do and hope this project lasts forever!
Insane thanks to you guys at Musescore. Making such a powerful tool FREE is an amazing thing you're doing for the artistic community. Props to you guys!
