  • In this episode I'm dealing with a strange sound from what we think is a bad gearbox. Its really about not fixing stuff.

    Your editing and story telling is perfect. Sucks after all that work it still makes noise. It almost sounds like the gears making the sound. Hard to tell and I have battled the same types of problems before. The joys of being a boat mechanic. Thanks for the plug at the end. 🧑‍🔧👊

      Thank you! Glad you liked it👊. It was fun to make. Just so frustrating to get tangled in something that’s not giving any answers. I to believe it’s the gear ⚙️ now. Sometimes we hear strange sounds from the bearing at the shaft, but now we know it’s not that. No matter what I will give an update in the next one! 😊It’s interesting to work out but difficult to be working on🧐.

    Im also a marine mechanic from Australia, ive spent years working at a marina dealing with these kinds of issues, having to pull boats back out after finding more problems, or something still not right and then telling the bad news to customers, its just the nature of boats. I share your pain and oh god when it rains on days like that it just makes everything so much worse.

      Thank you for your sympathy 🙌. We live in the same world, even though your on the other side of it. I guess life on the docks is the same all over. You are so right, it’s really just the nature of boating🤭. And rain 🌧 makes it all more painful. Sometimes I wonder why we do what we do?! Thank you for tuning in and telling me I’m not alone in n this stressful line of work 👊hope you’ll have a stress free week until next time.

    Such a wholesome episode! Some impressive work you are doing, both mechanically and film/ediiting, mister! I have learned so much! I feel your pain though with the gearbpx issues.. Super interesting to see and hear your analyses on the way. Can’t wait to tune in on the follow-up episode!

      I’m happy to hear you can find something motivating in my films👊That’s really cool! And yea, I’m sure we struggle with the same stuff even if you work in paradise 🙃! So you run your own shop? Then we have a lot in common 🙌it’s one thing to work at the docks but also to run a company is something else 😅

    It's good to see you deep in the troubleshooting game 😂 I had a similar face after launching my boat with the verado not working in gear. I guess all the experience make you stronger 💪 😎 keep up the good work 👍

      Thank you for the sympathy 😅! I can imagine you felt bad when discovering that. I know have hard you work on your projects. But like you said it only makes you stronger. 👊But I my god it’s frustrating. I have no idea how this will end, but I trust my experience and it tells me that we always seem to find a way out of the swamp. 🙃

    Love the intro, is this art film or is this a CZcams-vlog? I don’t know, and I like it 👌🏻

    You surprised me in cutting the shaft. Do you do that often? Why not remove it normally and recondition it?

    • @SaltyMechanicsJunior
      @SaltyMechanicsJunior  Před 2 lety +2

      We wanted to change the shaft because we suspected it wasn’t 100% inline. Also the back end of the boat was in the way, so there was no other way to get it out fast that evening. Later when we had more time we actually had to remove the whole tale of the boat in order to put in the new shaft. Not all boats are built like this, so often we can just slide it out with no prob. This time it was a lot more to it. I just didn’t film it all, so I do get your questions 👍! Thanks for commenting👊

    In regards to the noise, why don't you think it came from the engine itself?

    • @SaltyMechanicsJunior
      @SaltyMechanicsJunior  Před 2 lety

      Good question. I’m actually talking about this in the next episode that comes out soon. But I’ll let you know our reasoning now since you ask👊. The engine does vibrate a lot but than when we tested the engine on different RPM’s we had no change in the sound what so ever. No matter what we demanded from the engine it was all the same. Hope to see you back for the next one and thanks for commenting 🙌
