  • This is a continuation of the discussions on finding a church to attend. The Panel dissects the general bent and premises of 'Deliverance' and 'Healing Ministries' and the Prosperity 'Gospel'.
May the Lord Jesus Christ use this little work to draw someone's attention to the deceptions going on in 'Christianity' today.

The issue with the prosperity and social justice gospel is that it deceives people into thinking that biblical references to the poor and oppressed are about economic status. For instance, when the Bible says "blessed are the poor in spirit" (Matthew 5:3) or mentions that Jesus came for the poor and oppressed in Luke 4:18, many interpret this as referring to financial poverty. If this were true, it would imply that the rich do not need the gospel, which contradicts the fact that both rich and poor need salvation. The real issue is sin, not economics.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit" refers to those who recognize their sinfulness and understand they cannot earn God's favor or eternal life on their own. These are the people who receive forgiveness. In contrast, self-righteous individuals, like the Pharisees, believe they can enter God's kingdom by their own merit. The primary issue with the Pharisees was not that their sins were worse but that they were blind to their spiritual bankruptcy. Jesus addressed this in Mark 2:17: "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."
Consider the thief on the cross who acknowledged his sins and recognized Jesus' righteousness (Luke 23:40-43), and the parable of the self-righteous Pharisee and the repentant tax collector in Luke 18:9-14. God seeks those who acknowledge their insufficiency and need for a substitute. Isaiah 64:6 says, "All our righteous acts are like filthy rags," and Romans 3:12 states, "No one does good."
Christ's death was for those who are poor in spirit. Repentance involves recognizing one's inability to keep the law and the need for God's justification through faith. Without acknowledging one's ungodliness, one cannot inherit the kingdom of God.
Some Nigerians and Africans believe that being poor or sick means being under a curse or judgment. However, there are non-Christians who are wealthy and healthy but do not know Christ. According to the Bible, these people are under God's wrath and will face eternal damnation. True blessing, according to Psalm 32:1, is having one's sins forgiven. Therefore, a Christian who may be poor or suffering is actually blessed because their sins are forgiven.
True blessing in life is spiritual, not material. The lie is that blessing always equals a good and easy life, which is not true. Many prosperous people will not find peace after death. If the apostles were alive today, the modern charismatic Pentecostal church might label them cursed because they suffered and were not rich, yet they were truly blessed.
In conclusion, the prosperity gospel misleads by equating financial success with God's favor. True blessing comes from recognizing one's spiritual poverty, repenting, and receiving forgiveness through Christ.
Thanks for the videos! They are a blessing indeed!!

    This is spot on!
The problem with deliverance ministries is that the pastors often seek to be the center of attention. If pastors were to teach their members that belief in Christ brings true freedom, it would empower the members and shift the focus from the pastors to Christ. This shift means members wouldn't need to return weekly for "deliverance," diminishing the pastor's central role. Nowhere in the Bible is there any record of a born-again, Holy Spirit-filled believer being demon-possessed-only unbelievers.
When pastors invent methods to "deliver" members from supposed spirits, it becomes evident that they may be unknowingly working against Christ. The devil's strategy is to divert attention from the Savior to endless deliverance rituals. Those who undergo repeated exorcisms often remain in bondage, living in constant fear of demons. As mentioned in this video , if you believe you have a demon, it indicates a lack of the Holy Spirit. A pastor filled with the Holy Spirit will consistently focus on Jesus Christ and His sacrifice, guiding members towards Christ rather than creating man-made methods to combat spiritual battles. Such methods ultimately use the enemy's tools to fight "spiritual warfare."
Another misconception is equating sin issues with demonic possession. Instead of owning up to their sins, repenting, and taking steps to overcome them, people blame demons. For instance, rather than reducing alcohol intake, they claim to have a spirit of drunkenness that needs to be cast out. Instead of controlling their temper and seeking God's help, they say there is a spirit of anger. This mindset prevents people from recognizing their personal responsibility for sin and their need for a Savior. They see sin as the work of a demon rather than an issue of the flesh.
Deliverance ministries often mislead by focusing on the pastor and continuous exorcisms rather than on Christ's saving power. True freedom comes from recognizing personal sin, repenting, and trusting in Jesus Christ. Sin issues are matters of the flesh and personal responsibility, not necessarily demonic possession.

Some say they specialize in marital gospel like Kingsley Okonkwo who goes about teaching his own philosophies and fables.

The problem is not what they are teaching, it is the umbrella they have put over their heads, pastor. If they called themselves relationship counselors or financial or leadership advisors there wouldn't have been any problem. The five-fold ministries are for the perfection of the saints for the work of the ministry.

Oyedepo said when God asked him to start prosperity preaching that he was persecuted, only the blind Christians wouldn't know that it wasn't from the Most High God of the Holy scriptures.

The teachings of stewardship diligence etc in the bible is enough we need no extra prosperity revelation
In the church there will be Deliverance(John 8 v 32. To. 36),,healings ,, prospering ..But not to stand as a gospel alone

How's it that to be saved one must believe in christ's dead and ressurrection otherwise you will be damned (optional).
But the punishments for the original sin of the first two mortals reaches out to everyone, whether one believes in that their sins or not?

Check out Abel Damina ministries international CZcams channel, Soteria season 10, the doctrine of sin. We don't inherit the sin of Adam. Abel did not even though an immediate descendant of Adam. Just like Adam, we are presented with the gospel and we make a choice.
