I get annoyed that people refuse to simply look at the two players. Strip off all the extra and look at what each player is doing and compare. It’s mind-blowing we keep getting people saying, “well…” Are we still talking about basketball? If we are, this contest has been over for a while.

People also never seem to mention HOW these stats are coming for Wemby and Chet. Wemby is getting consistent double teams and sometimes triple teams sent at him. Most of Chet's points are coming from single coverage or even wide open 3s. Its still very impressive to shoot as well as Chet has been especially at his height but its not the same.
It's people being intentionally blind to the truth.

@@MattDaddyFatStacks I've watched Thunder games and having SGA who is the current second best player in the league, Jalen Williams, Giddey, etc makes it SIGNIFICANTLY easier for Chet to operate. He's NEVER double-teamed or even triple-teamed like the Thunder did to Wemby. And now it's going to be insanely easier for Chet with them adding depth to their roster with some great pieces in Hayward and Biyombo. Imo Thunder have a very strong chance to win it all for multiple years to come with that roster. The only consistently good player on the Spurs is Wemby. He needs help. Do you watch Spurs games? Chet is honestly great! However, anyone who thinks he's as good or even better than Wemby is delusional.
@@sinastir7688 not drawing comparisons between the two, I think Wemby is great. We have objective metrics of field goal shot quality and Chet’s is 1% higher than Vic’s.
@@MattDaddyFatStacks Shooting % is clearly affected by various factors. In my previous comment, I mentioned having better players on his team. That gives him better spacing to have MUCH easier shots, as well as much better assists given to him from better facilitators.

I don't believe it's necessary to state the obvious as to how Wemby is better, when he's leading Chet in almost all statistical categories. He's also had a Triple-Double with Blocks. Chet will likely be an All-Star for many, many years to come. Wemby, if healthy, will be a Superstar and likely the future face of the league. So sorry if it's hate to agree that Wemby is better than Chet. Numbers don't lie mane.

Brandon Miller averaging 18/4/2 on 56 TS% (below league average) and is a solid defensive player rn. Chet is averaging 16/8/3/2.5 blocks on 61 TS% (+4 compared to league average) while being one of the best rim protectors in the nba. This is just an absolutely ridiculous narrative I’m ngl lol. I know he’s been really good for two and a half weeks but let’s not push it.

Would these guys still say that if Wemby was from the US and Chet from Europe? He is heads and shoulders above Chet (who is himself heads and shoulders above the rest of the rookies and is doing a phenomenal season). Its just that Wemby is beyond good. Dude is putting numbers that have so rarely been seen (rookie or not rookie).
There will always be people to hate. Unless he puts in quad double every two games, and even then some people will downplay the performance by saying "yeah he is good but its just that is has huge arms".
Let him do his thing, dont care how a vocal minority feels and says, its so good to be part of his journey from the start. If he keeps improving , people might talk about the 2023/2024 NBA season for decades as the moment Wemby started. People keep saying Chet "is affecting winning more" that sounds good on the surface level, but not true at all. Wemby is having an average net rating while on the court for the spurs of +5.5. Chet is nowhere near that. Look at the spurs defensive rating with wemby on vs off the court. Its night and day. Wemby affects his team positively much more than chet does. But chet just has a better team around him
Chet will be a 7x+ all star. Wemby will be a top 5 player in the History of Basketball

Wemby is the type of player that does things we thought can’t be done for a player his size.
Chet is does things in a fundamentally sound way.
Sasser has gotten back to cooking and his off the dribble 3pt shooting is a real weapon. I think he's one to look out for this last stretch.

just wanna give a shoutout to gradey dick, who's been waaaay better in the last few weeks for the raptors after his conditioning stint with the g league team. hes been one of our best players in several games, and its not just cause of the shooting. hes not gonna end up on a rookie team but after the start he had its been really impressive
