Last video we left off sailing away from Shroud Cay in the Exuma Land and Sea Park. Today we're heading south to the main part of the National Park on the little Cay of Warderick Wells. Before we knew of the park we were told by many that Warderick Wells is one of the most pristine and beautiful spots in the Bahamas. After our experiences in Shroud Cay gonewiththewynn... it's going to take some adventure to top that!
Grab you swimsuit, a hat and join us for a day on the island. Thanks for being a part of the adventure.

I love the quality of the videos and the wealth of information you provide... thank you. The cats are so cute. I love you include them in your video. Keep up the good work and I wish you both the best on all your adventures. Thank you for taking us along.

Lovely videos as always. One trick for the no-see-ums is baby oil mixed with water (roughly 50/50) in a leftover sunscreen spritz bottle. Just a light spritz on your arms and legs and they will no-prob-lems.

From my old memory , that was about the calmest and clear water you have videoed . Hope you youngsters are using some good sun block . Otherwise your skin will look as bad as mine when you get "old" . I imagine what it is like to have a drone that will not function in such a beautiful setting . I attempted to take some video of a great twisty road with my original GoPro and while riding had a deer run out in front of me . I preformed a perfect emergency stop and was so excited to show it to riding buddies . Got home to load it up for editing and batteries died right after I started it , so bummed . I always look forward to your excellent video , thanks for all your work , and play !

!!!!Apparently CZcams has an Issue with this video ending on Mobile Platforms (iPad, phones, etc) around the 5 minute mark!!!!
It seems to work fine on PC computers or if you watch it on our website using Chrome web browser:
    gonewiththewynns.com/sailing-warderick-wells
From reports of viewers the issue occurs when watching this video on the YT mobile app or on Safari. It seems to work on a PC, or using Chrome and Firefox browsers. This issue was likely caused in the processing that YT does to the video after I upload it. We ALWAYS check to make sure the videos play before going live, but we do this on a PC using a Chrome web browser.
I have an email into CZcams to remedy the issue, but I'm guessing they won't be able to do much. Dang CZcams. Sorry for the hassle guys.

Amazing videos and story - thank you. Has rekindled a dream to cruise I had when backpacking 72 days straight in Central America 18 years ago. Regarding the no-see-ums. You always see to be on a beach at sunset when you get bit. Most of Caribbean - and even the west coast of central America - is known for this around sunset. We used to call it the golden 1/2 hour (amazing sunset, golden - attracted to the beach to watch the sun set). ....and that's exactly when you want to get off the beach...to avoid the flies. Not sure if by now you've remarked on this in a similar way. Keep doing what you do. I've been giving the idea of cruising a lot of thought since coming across your videos. Marc

I'll admit that I thought you guys were in over your heads when you first started sailing. At some point you guys got serious! Serious about receiving instruction, serious about cracking some books by sailors who've come before.
The two of you have developed a rare trait among sailors today: The willingness to do the extra work in sail trim and sail selection required to keep the engine off. The vast majority of cruisers would have kicked on at least one engine and motor sailed that day trip.
I was going to write earlier to recommend that you try New England or Grenada for hurricane season, and give the Caribbean a shot next season in order to build your skill set with some offshore passages that would take a week or two to complete. But if you can keep this attitude of humility and willingness to work a little, and learn a lot, then I say go for it. Part of the magic of having a blue water boat is looking at the world and saying, "I wanna go THERE!"
Have fun and keep up the hard work!!

Green sea turtles , Nurse sharks, Southern rays and Anoles ( that was a not Gecco) are so common in the Carribean. But that sighting of Rays was a once in a lifetime experience.

If you look for the arc-shaped waves radiating on the surface of the sea from the little promontory at the waters edge at about 15:19 and 20:27 while you were taking video from Boo Boo Hill.
That is a good example of how the ancient navigators I previously referred to could use wave patterns on a much larger scale to identify the presence of land masses they could not see directly and set a course towards them.

Awesome snorkeling there...I'm so jealous! I was on Ambergris Caye in Belize a few months ago and the no-see-ums were relentless there too. The locals say baby oil is usually enough to ward them off, better than any other option. Not sure if you've tried that, but it does work, for the most part anyway. Forgot the oil on the last day, went walking along the shore in the am and got hundreds, if not thousands of bites...enough to have to go to the Dr. when I got home. Insane! Try it if you haven't. TFS your amazing adventures so beautifully!

I enjoy your videos. There is one thing that was common knowledge in my grandmother's generation (early 1900s) that seems to have been abandoned in the later generations. That is the destruction of the skin by too much exposure to the sun. In our youth we didn't think about it, but when 50 and 60 years roll around we start to see the irreversible damage that has been done. My mother was a beautiful woman, but when she was older her skin was wrinkled due to the exposure to the sun.

Cool you got chute up. I was looking at your rigging and how you had the forward corner (tack) attached. Usually it's best to have it attached to a fixed point like a pole or in your case the windward hull or a centerline position/ pole.( bow sprit) It can have a pennant to raise the height as reqd but controlling the leading edge helps with control and performance especially if the breeze picks up.
Wow the water looks amazing....... Enjoy.
