In contrast to their other songs, Alkaline is structure-wise pretty straigh forward, but the lyrics, vocals and drumming make it one hell of a song!

Then, the second album starts with Atlantic.
"So flood me like Atlantic, wither me to nothing, wash away the blood on my hands"
And then this album has Rain.
"You cast the dust into nothing, and wash out the salt from my hands"
Blood from Blood Sport gets washed away by Atlantic's salt water and Rain washed out the salt from Atlantic.

They played this in Dallas texas this year. It started pouring rain as he chanted " Rain down on me". Lightning synching to II's drumming. Absolutely insane moment

I was there! It was one of the best nights of my life.
This album is the end of a trilogy of albums. The story actually predates the albums and starts with their first release from 2016, an EP entitled One. This was followed by another EP in 2017, entitled Two, and then in 2018 by 3 non-album singles, one of which is a cover. The very last song on Take Me Back To Eden, called Euclid has a lot of callbacks to previous songs and ends with the melody and lyrics from the first song on their first album, Sundowning, called The Night Does Not Belong To God.
On the surface level the basic story is of a toxic relationship that went catastrophically wrong and the emotional struggle of the aftermath and finally the acceptance of coming to terms with it. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️
The thing about Sleep Token you need to know to understand their lyrics is they are a band based on their own lore. The lead vocalist is a Vessel of their deity, Sleep, in which he has a deep spiritual relationship that came to him in his dreams. He longs for Sleep's love and embrace, which he has described as a vast ocean, but Sleep tends to hold Vessel at a distance to create that intense sense of longing. So every song is a "Token" or offering to their deity "Sleep," hence the name Sleep Token. Their concerts are always referred to as rituals where they worship Sleep. Now, break down the lyrics from that perspective, it makes a lot more sense.
I love this response however, Vessel refers to Sleep as a HE.
The songs are said to be a token of worship to Sleep not about Sleep.

If u start from their first album n listen all the way thru u will understand the story here. Interpret it for urself. This album is a healing 1 from the wounds of the past. They're amazing!

Alkaline was the first song I heard by Sleep Token and was instantly hooked. Loving these reactions and how into the lyrics you get.
Their music tells a story from the very beginning to the very end of all their music. There are even call backs and references to his previous band.
What if I told you that this album is the third in a trilogy. It has told a story through all three of them.
Every Sleep Token song is a song of worship to the goddess of Sleep
The Offering is my favorite ST song. I fell into the ST rabbit hole, love all three albums.
You really need to do a deep dive to truly appreciate how all these tie together.
It's my belief he's talking to himself in this one (there are two other songs in which he's talking to himself). This trilogy is about self-discovery and learning to love yourself, after giving up everything for someone or something else.
Sleep Token is VERY deep, Vessel's lyrics is pure poetry. He's such a talented lyricist, and vocalist. I adore his voice. So good. But, yes, they are very deep and emotionally charged. They straight up will make you SOB 😭😭😭. Their trilogy of albums is a journey I'm glad i went on... such wonderful music and in VARIETY like you said! They really can do it all. Looking forward to more. The Offering and Higher from their Sundowning album, Hypnosis and Alkaline from their Tomb album, and The Apparition and Granite from the Eden album. Whether you react to all their songs or just cram them to learn more of the story, please please please save EUCLID for last. It'll make more sense if you've heard the other songs first.

Yes, all their songs are deep and their albums are a trilogy (so far). If you want to check another song out from this album, TMBTE, I recommend The Apparition, Vore and Granite. I will say that if you're planning on listening to the full TMBTE album, you may want to listen to "The Night Does Not Belong to God" which is the first song from their first album, before listening to "Euclid", which is the last song on the TMBTE album.

Ambient Metal/Baddie Core is what genre I categorize this band in. Also this song has a double meaning on saturate me and rain down on me. Some of Vessels lyrics also have sexual innuendos. In this instance he's also referring to her being a squirter.

Welcome to the Rabbit Hole of sleep token… If you wanna have a true experience please I highly recommend starting at their first ep, One. There is hints and small things that connect all together when you listen from their old music to new. One, Two, Sundowning and then on🖤 Have fun and try not to cry.

I can't recommend enough that you listen to all three albums in order. It's not just a story, it's an entire history of a relationship between Vessel and the mythical deity, Sleep. There are major themes throughout as well. For example, lots of songs refer to different things in chemistry or alchemical properties and there is also an underlying sub-theme about vorephelia.
Anthony you are cooking with the analysis! Keep going! Alkaline should be next I think.. (also pssst Will Ramos also covered this one)

The backstory of the band is that Vessel first encountered the god/goddess Sleep in a dream, and Sleep promised him success in his music career if he promoted worship of them. Hence, Sleep Token (songs are tokens in honor of Sleep), their concerts are "rituals", there's a lot of religious imagery in their set decorations and album art. The story told by their music loosely follows Vessel's first encounter with Sleep, and how Sleep consumes him and constantly demands more of him, yet he just wants Sleep to be as devoted to him as he is to them. A lot of the lore of the band is generated by fans, Vessel hasn't given many details of it--for example, Vessel refers to Sleep as "he" but all the songs use female pronouns (I mean obviously these songs are about his personal experience and this project is him working some stuff out), so personally I take it as Sleep is androgynous, genderless deity who changes appearance based on who is perceiving them. But most fans agree Sleep is female. Really brilliant of Vessel to leave it vague, in my opinion. Is it a gimmick? Yeah, obviously. Is it a *good* gimmick? Absolutely.
