Nick Shoulders & the Okay Crawdad - Rather Low *Official Video*

- In winter of 2020, I planned on taking a cellphone on tour and making a music video out of our new song, Rather Low, which had just been self released from my bedroom in New Orleans. I obviously never played those tours, nor the tours after them, but from the folks willing to put the 'punk' in Podunk, we bring you evidence that the open road can be rewarding and wonderful (despite the song being about the exact opposite). Featuring a rotating cast of Crawdads, this was shot during our southeast tour in December 2021 and represents how our shows and tours have felt entering live music anew (after such a profound hiccup in our roadbound careers). Thanks a billion to Wyatt for selling merch and driving, Grant for playing the hell out of the bass and singing better than me, Cheech for being my favorite drummer on earth and our guardian, Jack for bringing true chaos forth unto us, Sasha for bringing fiddle to the crawdad arena so hard, Nikolai for positively raging on steel, Kurt and Gar Hole for keeping us afloat, Chooch for still making noises with me after a decade of trouble, Jesse for booking the damn shows and big shout out to Caspian (of Scissorbills, Chardonnay, Black Bird Raum) who plays guitar on the original recording, listen to his tunes. Riley Downing and Todd Day Wait make appearances and are worth listening to also! Plus Jack Studer is our guitar lord and a killer songwriter who has a new album out. Miss you Chris!!
I had the absolute pleasure of seeing this man perform in Austin a few weekends ago and let me tell you, it was unlike anything I've ever been to in my life. His voice doesn't change from video to in-person, it's still the same yodeling young heartthrob that can sing to the moon. If you ever get the chance to see him, TAKE IT AND GO. You'll thank me later
I miss living in Austin for exactly these kinds of shows.

I saw him last night in Phoenix. I’ve seen hundreds of concerts in my life. This was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Like a cross between a circus and a Pentecostal tent revival, front by an absolutely amazing voice, and backed up by a super tight, kickass band.
Do yourself a favor and see this guy live.

I rarely if ever comment on anything on CZcams, but I often hear that its good for the algorithm. So if that hasn't changed by now, I have got to say that even after 2+ years since I first discovered Nick's music, it still excites me whenever he and the people around him put out anything new.

I was lucky enough to see this man at Duke's Honky Tonk in Indianapolis Indiana. They're just really no words I've seen a "thousand" shows but somehow he made that one memorable. I want more

I got caught driving in a thunderstorm outside Columbus to this album on the middle leg of a Houston to Boston trip. The rain lasted about as long as this album played twice, and these songs helped me stay calm through an hour and change of no visibility white-knuckle sleep deprived hard time driving. Good stuff.
