Hi Dillon, Long story, short version. I am 73 years old. When I was about 15 years old, my first taste of stereo was from an older apple orchardist I wanted a summer job from. When I went into his house, waiting for him to come in and talk to me about the summer job, I spotted something amazing. There on one side of the room sat a turntable (don't remember the brand) hooked up to a glowing tubed McIntosh MC240 Amp...then looking left and right was the holy grail of all speakers ( I learned this later): Two big Klipshorn speakers all wrapped in walnut. He comes in, sees me looking and drooling at his system...says "do you want to hear it?" "Sure do" I says...unbelievable sound came out of those big boxes! There is lots more of my stereo story, but you got lots of other mail to read. After lots of 60's and 70's this and that pieces of stereo gear. Here is what I now have: Speakers: Klipsch Forte ll's and KlH 17's. Amp is a 1964 Scott 299 recapped putting out about 20 watts per side. Preamp is a Dynaco Pat4. Turntables are: Pioneer PL 570 Direct Drive with a Shure V15, and just recently added a Fluance RT85 with the Ortofon 2m blue cartridge. Spinning lots of my old records adding a couple of jazz or instrumentals per week. (BTW, I still have my very first album I bought: "Herb Alpert's Lonely Bull" date I wrote on album cover: April 11, 1966) I love the gear, but love the music more.

Very good for you!, always great to see great gear passed along from a music lover no longer with us and continued to be enjoyed! I hope someone someday will enjoy my equipment (or it's components) after I'm gone.
As a former Klipschorn owner (14 years!), I can tell you, that I tried them in a small room 11x10x8' room and they were stifled and could not make good low end.
Soon after I finished the dedicated listening space 24x18x8', they become a totally different animal, a MONSTER sound! Had them hooked up to Dynaco MK3 amps and PAS 2 pre, and it was an amazing presentation. Mine were built in 1967 and un-altered.
I moved them along to a new owner who bought the complete system and still to this day, enjoys it immensely. I hope you get many years of enjoyment, and once you move them into a larger space, you will love the system even more so, just you wait! ((O:

Love your whole Mac system! Had a pair of Klipsch Heresys in the '80's and in the mid '90's got a pair of Klipschorns piano black and in a huge room and sounded outrageous! Had them for a decade and moved so would be impractical so sold them and got a pair of Cornwalls and they are perfect for my system and room size! They still weigh 100 pounds each but K-Horns like yours are 180 pounds each! When you get them in a proper room the bass is thunderous since it travels though the walls and floor! BTW the year of my Cornwalls and your Klipschorns is the perfect years (early-mid '80's)since the speakers were much better made and to last! Sound better in those years too! Congratulations on the find!

This brought a smile to my face. It’s like one of those first time reaction videos. Yes, audiophiles can be pretentious. I’m glad I grew up in a time when people had stereo’s. I’m sorry that young people today don’t get to experience that.
I shake my head when I watch some of these VC channels with people showing off their $125 records and the equipment they’re playing them on. Carts in front of the horse.
You don’t have to go crazy but it takes a certain amount of bucks to get the most out of your records. I am a crazy person. I have 5 turntables and 15 phono cartridges
You had a nice setup before. Glad you’re getting to experience the pleasures of the next level and what a really well matched stereo system can sound like. Tube amplification with horn speakers. Good luck on your audiophile journey.

Dylan, I'm very happy you finally got the chance to round up your already magnificent hifi system, with those marvellous Klipschorns. As I previously wrote in your hifi system introduction video, you needed to upgrade your system, so you did it in a great way. I'd love to own a couple of MC275s.
But I gotta tell you a couple of things: your "receiver" is not a receiver, it is an integrated amplifier (preamp+power amp in the same chassis). A receiver is an integrated amplifier plus radio, so that's 3 components in the same box.
I would recommend you to ask a professional whether you could "bi-cable" the Klipschorns. The MA6500 is 120 watt integrated (I believe it's solid state) and the MC275 is a 2x75 (bridgeable to mono, in which case you can get around 150 watts but only one channel, so you'd need another MC275 in mono) tube power amplifier. If you are powering the speakers with only the 275, you are not using the power amp section of the MA 6500, which is electric power gone to waste. But because I'm not a professional nor an engineer, you should ask a pro guy because of impedances and technical stuff that I don't master. Perhaps you could power the woofers with the MA650 (120 watts) and the tweeters with the 275 (75 watts), or maybe the other way around. Usually woofers need more power than tweeters, but because tube watts are different than solid state (transistor) watts, maybe those 75 tube watts per channel could be more compared to the 120 transistor watts. I insist you should ask someone who knows their business. Maybe this way you can take full advantage of the total power that both the integrated and the 275 can deliver to those speakers.
If I remember well, you said on the other video that the previous owner had those 2 amps. I'm wondering why on Earth would he have an integrated and a power amp. The most logical thing would have been to have a pre-amp (such as the C22) and the MC275.
By the way, those Klipsch are horn-based so they are a very sensitive pair of speakers, they are 105 dbs which is a lot (you could actually get a decent amount of power with lo-power tube amps such as Leben or Shindo).
Now you can rediscover the "true" (or better) sound of all your records. Enjoy!!!

Killer System! The Mcintosh Ma6500 Integrated Pre-Main Amplifier however is not a "receiver", it's an Integrated Pre-Main Amplifier. A receiver typically means it has a radio tuning section. Great combo. As a long time vintage audio collector I know I would love it, but when you get those speakers farther apart & away from your turntable you will really hear the difference. Enjoy!

Man we truly are connected or something (although on different equipment levels). I commented on your previous about getting my MOFI Turn Table around the same time you got your new set up. Well…… I was wrestling a similar thought process, obsessively every day. On Tuesday my Cambridge CXa61 amp and I went with Warfdale Denton 85th’s. Your right everything has to match Looking good man! Congratulations! I can only imagine the sound

Congrats again on your acquisitions. Tubes and Klipsch, just magical. Living in NYC in an apartment, there is absolutely no room for those speakers. Even the Cornwall’s are to big for my space, so it’s going to be the Forte IV’s running off of PrimaLuna Evo 400 intergrated amp. You are now an official Tube Head. Welcome

Super cool! I have a pair of Klipschorns too. They make me feel like being on a concert. Best speakers under 100'000 bucks IMHO. I bought them used, very cheap, and I later found out that they belonged to a friend of mine with whom I was on biketours 35 years agoand who died some year ago. If anyone can't afford the Klipschhorns I recommand the Klipsch Cornwalls. In terms of livefeeling, power, dynamics etc. they come close to the Klilpschorns...wish you lots of fun with your gear, Dillon.

You’ll never need to buy new speakers again. I run the K-horn up front and a set of Belle’s in the back with a Marantz 2325 pushing them all ! My music room is double insulated because I built this room for my music ! I can rock ! Every time I listen to them it like the first time !

My brother-in-law tested his horn’s 50 years ago in his new rental home! We got to meet all his neighbors and local police. Sounded fantastic over a block away. Congratulations on a great heirloom!

Outstanding system!!! Would love to have a set up like that. Question...where did the dust cover for the TT come from? I'd like to have one of those

I have had 2 sets of Klipsch Heresy's and you cannot beat the horn sound, congrats dont forget. these speakers are sensitivity so you do not have to crank them for full potential, I have a 6 watt tube amp which pushes mine just fine

Yup. I used to sell those back in the late 80s, early 90s. Also sold Polk and B&W. Sold Mac, Krell, Threshold, SOTA,. Nakamichi, and lots more. The Cornerhorns are one of the most dynamic speakers ever made. And they need so little power. We had a mono Cornerhorn from the 50s out on the floor and we used to hook up the little wires from a handheld 70s transistor radio, the wires that went to the little internal speaker, and wire it to the K-Horn and drive that giant speaker with a little transistor radio and it would blow people's minds.
Klipsch are not my particular cup of tea, but for my money, your best piece of gear is that Mac MC 275. That is an amp that you will use for the rest of your life. If you change speakers or change your preamp, you will always want to have that amp as part of your system. Nice score.

Love the equipment Dillon! Do you have any suggestions for a good turntable that Is fairly easy to set up and is high quality? Looking to spend no more than 5-600 on the record player itself. I currently use the atlp60 and atlp120.

Dillon your new set up is off the hook! Well deserved sir. Don't go too audiophile on us though. I still enjoy hearing about your amazing and extremely rare non audiophile finds like Farm, Fraction etc.
