Why get a long hair if you won’t take care of it? This cats acting like this cause it’s in pain because of the matting. When the clippers go over matting it rips and pulls the hair away from the skin.
Just having him shaved isn’t a solution. Brush your cat.

@@Iwakeuptired it's not true what you wrote, this cat fur is not at all matted severely, it's normal, long hair cats need fur grooming even if we brush them because and especially during hot weather it's so hard for them to support the heat animals do not sweat, twice a year a cat or a dog must get groomed for his health for the fur to regenerate and skin to breathe. This cat is by nature aggressive in a good way he does not like getting groomed and I bare he does not like brushing same way or claws catting, it's just like that, the groomer did a great job with this cat. Some groomers with such cat behaviour they put them to anesthesia which is not at all good for the cat.
A big applause for your job, good luck 👏🏻

@@RollaMekidiche - I am not blind The cat is severely matted on his abdomen area. The cat turns into a wild animal each time the groomer touches the stomach area. The cats and dogs must be brushed to prevent the matts that cause animals discomfort and pain.

Our cat was groomed by the vet and he used a sedative to put him to sleep. I groomed him myself with Wahl cordless clippers and saved $300, however I had to use two tablets of Gabapentin to keep him calmer. It is the noise of the clippers that he dislikes.

The matted hairs lumps are very painful especially while getting removed hence the cat sudden reaction to pain (lots). Well maintained, de-matted, brushed cats usually go with the groom smoothly in my (limited) experience. Keep on the good work Miguel, you are going calm, understanding and exceptionally good.

Doesn't ANYONE know about the cat calming treats you buy them on Amazon so they don't flip out so bad while they're being groomed?? Also, you need to place a cloth stretchy wrist band around their head before putting on the plastic protector over his head!! This is insane grooming this poor cat without any cat calming treats!! This cat is huge. Is is a Maine Coon? This guy is definitely doing it right. Gloves, head cone, and restraints. I don't know why more groomers don't use those cones. Its a great idea because angry cats will bite. I couldn't believe that the cat allowed the groomer to put the cone back on after the cat had managed to wrestle it off.

I dunno what the cat's age is, but if it's older like mine sedation is really dangerous. We don't take her to a groomer tho, none in our area that mess with cats, let alone bitchy ones like tiger, we just get her as calm as we can and slowly cut out mats extremely carefully over a few days.

Sedation is very risky for cats. I lost my lovable George during dental surgery. Earlier this year my lil' buddy pal, Leon, needed a couple teeth pulled and I explained to the vet what happened to George. I was assured it was very rare for a healthy cat to die from sedation and gave her the go ahead. Guess what happened? He went into cardiac arrest. Luckily, they were able to resuscitate him. I would absolutely never sedate a cat for a grooming.

    1) there are medications such as Gabapentin that can be given by owners in advance to help de stress their pets. 2) I assume you are checking and changing your blades as they get hot? 3) I don't see any stretching of the cars skin to prevent the clipper catching.4) under NO circumstances is it ok to hold the cat by the tail to shave it. I appreciate your patience and the attempts you made to towel, cat muzzle, cone, and burrito this cat but once it starts panting like this you really should have stopped. Your end result is amazing but I'm not sure it was best for the animal and certainly wasn't an experience that would make it friendlier at his next grooming.

Compared to our loooong-haired boy Micah, this guy is about a 4 on a 1-10 scale - Micah is around 12 or so... the very second you try to "scruff" the back of his neck, which 'freezes' most cats, he goes apesh*t, twisting & turning & scratching/biting anyone/anything he can get ahold of. The second you let go, he's still mad, but stops fighting. It's a nightmare, especially when he gets poop stuck in the hair around his butt & back of his legs. 😳👎

When a cat starts panting like that you should stop ✋️
    After that it's torture

I'm only 6 minutes into the video, and I'm feeling bad for both you and the cat! You can't quit now, poor baby's fur it matted bad. Good job, although I think he clawed you a few times.

Dislike for having a dog in the room when you're grooming a cat

Wow, how do you not know you should NEVER put a lead or noose around a cat's neck let alone hook it up to the groomers helper!! Your just asking for a cat to react this way, always use a harness like hold with the noose!!!

May be helpful.to have someone (owner) hold cat down

At first step you have to use the gloves.
Then it will be more easy

I understand it's very hard to brush a long hair cat but any aggressive animal should have been given medication by your vet before grooming so they wouldn't be so aggressive right? This groomer was good but i didn't like the fact of him pulling this poor cats tail at all ...a cat can become paralyzed just by the way he kept pulling this poor cat by the tail and if none of you believe it just Google it you'll be surprised! And for the owner of this cat shame on you for allowing a groomer to pull your cats tail this should never happen to your poor cat or any cat !

IMO, maybe your helper should give him treats and talk to him

Cost us a lot to get our cat groomed bc she had to be sedated ...its very expensive - but was this unsedated grooming a bit too much for the cat in the video - it was hard to watch to see it fighting and panting like that, though I dont fault the groomer, I think owners need to know what ir went through ...-
