There seems to be a condescending first question regarding the feats of the Samoans by one student regarding the navigational settlement of the Pacific Ocean, as compared to the Europeans exploration and mapping of the world near the 14th century. What was not mentioned that this feat by the Polynesian was as much credited to the invention of the outrigger canoe, as well as, the unprecedented navigational skills of the deep sea explorer, that was the Polynesian navigator. Needless to say, the question itself was tinged with racist overtones. More relevantly, the US-Samoan relations regarding American citizenship status for the American Samoans was not discussed which would affect the military services for many pre-naturalized American Samoan servicemen. An international relations question on Global terrorism was indirectly touched on through the Palestinian question, this would have been more relevant for present day geo-political dialogue. Regionally, if there was a question relating to South East Asian Islamist terror risk assessment and the present positioning of Samoa comparatively looking at flash points within the Philippines, ie, with the Moro freedom fighters; and, the Islamic Jihadists, within Indonesia and Malaysia, would have been a more politically-militarily relevant point for a region-wide and global audience. From a regional geo-spatial relevant question, for Samoa and US interests, is the concern for the gradual Chinese economic and political sphere of influence within the South Pacific region which was not discussed at all. At grass roots level, the global issue and concern of economic migration is still regarded, by mainstream Americans, at least, as a near and present danger concern, and Samoans are on the cross hairs target list for racial discrimination, aggravating potential multicultural mistreatment by mainstream Core nations, within Australia, NZ and USA.

Tim Brian Tufuga I don't think the Hon was there for all that. He was there just to give a talk to the young people (the youth) of the church in that area.

Southseas Princess Ok, then the general sweeping youtube title is misleading, since, the title stated that this is US-Samoan relations. Such a sweeping title will mislead viewers expecting a White house and Oval Office audience by a Head of State of a particular Polynesian race, ipso facto. The Head of State of Samoa represents not just a nation, he represents the entire half a million Samoan race, globally, within Samoa, NZ, Australia, and within the USA. This include current serving members of the US military. Therefore, current political issues should be gauged afterall US-Samoan relations covers trade, immigration, military relations and cultural relationships historical and current. The youtube title is too general and misleading.

Yes! It's just a title but this is the LDS youth at Kennedy center that he's giving a talk at. It may not be just him but others. Those folks who invited the Hon Head of State of Samoa to speak, may have also asked him to speak on a certain subject. So, yes, youtube does that sometimes.

American Samoa has NO Say in the relations between SAMOA and the US.
Why would the Tama-Aiga even speak about American Samoa citizenship?
This is SAMOA (Savaii, Upolu, Manono, Apolima).

He does not have a British accent. I would describe it as an educated NZ accent due to his secondary and university education in Wellington. I fail to see anything funny about it!
