I think a surface is required for a cast shadow. a light source and object can still create shadow on other side of object, without surface

I have a question if you can help. Imagine a shadow is formed on the plane. If i put a mirror in front of that shadow. It will form an image on the mirror. The question, is the shadow a real object or a virtual object for that mirror? Or can it even be considered an object?

Yes it will form an image but not because of the shadow but because of the light reflected from the opaque body.
And shadow is not an object but just the absence of light caused by light not being able to pass from the opaque object
