A Look Back At: THE WIZ

- One of the highlights of the 2019 Broadway At Music Circus season was a dazzling production of THE WIZ, featuring a cast of Broadway veterans and the vibrant costumes that were used in NBC’s 2015 live broadcast of the show. We’ll revisit THE WIZ with two of its stars, Broadway’s Adrianna Hicks, who played Dorothy, and James T. Lane, who played Tinman, as they share some of their Broadway At Music Circus experiences, along with video highlights from the show.

I love how the costumes were either identical or unbelievable identical to the NBC version. Phenomenal performances

Would have been nice if the costumes were not a direct copycat version of NBC's The Wiz Live ! With the exception of Dorothy there is literally No originality, No motivation and No creativity to give the costumes something new and original in this production.
The songs and the music selections is phenomenal. The beautiful
and strong voices. But if you want to find something wrong. Have at it…💁🏽
That shows a lack of knowledge on how most regional producing houses work. For most regional theatres, presenting their own productions of musicals there simply is not the money to have costumes designed and made. These are often five to six week runs, and many theatre's don't have the budget let alone the storage space. So they hire in existing costumes. It's the only way they can produce on this scale.
