Man, what would I do to be your apprentice. This video is leaving me breathless, not just because of all the amazing photos you made, but the whole experience while trying to capture them. I hope that one day I will be able to do it as well.
Always enjoy your videos! What are your thoughts of the Z5 and kit lens after using it in the field?
It's a pleasure for me see yours amazing videos every sunday. Thanks for share your knowledge e passion for photography.
Tighten your bag straps. It’s hanging way to low. Your back must be hurting
many thanks for such a great review.
This is exactly the type of field test that people want to see - a natural extension from the important technical detail, but developing the reality of using the camera in different settings that we visit ourselves. This is a massive difference for me. Although I am not a Nikon shooter, the results in your images Nigel, were excellent. I would take a higher megapixel sensor in order to crop and develop images from within images - a subject you have discussed previously. Great blog - keeping it real so everyone keeps developing!
I dont edit images, you should not need to if you do the job right the first time. Thats why photographers now are lazy trash producing boring images they have no actual skill and rely on software. Guarantee that I could outshoot anyone if it came down to it.
I hope Nikon makes you one of their official reviewers whenever they come up with new cameras! It’s just nice to see someone actually using the camera out there and taking great photos with it in nature 🥰
Cracking vlog with some stunning images, especially the swan shots and the pano. A very nice relaxing way to start a Sunday.
Stoked that Nikon released this camera. I much prefer a review like this over a technical review. Thanks Nigel!
Excellent video Nigel, the drone footage at the beginning was beautiful and the array of images you captured with the Z5 was fantastic.
Dude I feel like I watched a documentary on nature rather than a review. Beautiful work. I have problems relaxing with my ADHD and I'm thinking of getting a camera. This hit the sweet spot.
Thanks Nigel, your evaluation via your different sites on the camera was just so interesting. Lots of fun and good kearning as always.
That was a piece of classical music for the eyes.
And now I have to watch it again to see, what you actually said about the camera.
One of your best videos, Nigel! So many fantastic photos, that inspire me to take a camera and go outside ! Just love all of them.
Loved this episode Nigel. Spectacular views and photography.
"Sometimes you've just got to keep things simple." I'm glad you followed your own advice and got the nice minimalist photos of the swan on the misty lake.
You was certainly blessed with stunning conditions Nigel.
Amazing, just loved your work and Shots!
Awesome video Nigel, so relaxing to watch.
Fantastic images Nigel! Brilliant work!
This was a terrific presentation and I appreciate your approach by actually taking photos, rather than focusing on a spec sheet! I am very much looking forward to receiving my Z5 as a complement to my D850 and believe it will serve me well from a stills perspective in my paid work as a backup...and as walk-around kit. I also feel in the minority, thinking that the pricing of the Z5 is quite reasonable, considering it is Full Frame, has IBIS, is weather-sealed, etc... Sure, there is a 4K crop, but I believe there is no crop if shooting 1080p...and, as a limited video shooter, that’s all I need. Your footage and images are wonderful and demonstrate that it isn’t all about the gear...it’s the one behind the viewfinder that makes the REAL difference, not the additional FPS statistics :) Thank you for a great video! I’m subscribing!
Amazing video Nigel! Very helpful. Can't wait for my calendar 😁
Amazing photo, amazing camera, amazing job, congratulations Nigel👏👏
Nigel, another awesome video! Your videos make me look forward to Monday mornings.
Another excellent episode Nigel, the print at the end looks fantastic, what a beautiful scene!
The video is full of bangers! Great job!
Great video to watch, you had so amazing conditions!! I do really like the last photo's, with the golden morning light!!
Nigel this is such a great video. The 20 minutes flew by!
Wow, so beautiful and immersive landscapes !!
Beautiful shots Nigel and a honest appraisal. Really enjoyed the video.
what a wonderful view .. love it
Same Benro fan and Nikon fan. But switched to Sony A7R4. Let's see how the Z7s or Z8 look like. There will always be a part in my heart for Nikon.
This is one of the best videos I have seen in a long time, such a joy to watch on a Sunday. Beautiful pictures (@6:08 is my favorite, but I had a hard time choosing one), and all the effort you put in your videos really shows.
Thanks so much
You had some really beautiful conditions there!
Cheers Mads. It was so good
Gorgeous! Nice that the camera was up to the task. Rock on!
Man this video is just another level really appreciate it🙏🙏
Beautiful photos and a really nicely put together video.
Love the vistas you capture with any cameras - wow!
Some amazing images Nigel and you have certainly demonstrated that he Z5 is quite a capable camera even with the kit lens. Great video!!
Absolutely stunning photos Nigel, so so nice, they don’t get any better than that 😄
Lovely, beautiful as always you really inspire me a lot.
The images are so painterly and gorgeous!
Gorgeous scenery and images!!
Very enjoyable video Nigel! Excellent!
Stunning images , epic drone footage and nice fast pace video , love it.
Such breathtaking pictures from Nikon Z5. Your compositions are amazing!!!
Nigel, a suggestion for your website: make ND teeshirts available!
We need one that says "Fantastic to see you all again", and another that says "It just doesn't get any better than this..."
Thanks for all that you do! Love your channel!
Maybe one day....
there are some more: like: "looks so amazing", "the light is fantastic (or fabulous) or my personal favourite: "can't find a composition, first have an apple"....
"It just doesn't get any better then this" is a great idea for a tee
Gorgeous images! Beautifully made video
G’day Nigel . Good to see your new hat, Mate...LOL. You certainly keep us on our toes with learning, listening and doing...thank you. Stay safe and well.
Fantastic video and great photos!!! Thanks a lot for sharing
That's a pretty bunch of awesome photo's you took there Nigel.
Fabulous Captures Nigel ...x
What a great episode, Thank You Nigel for your thoughts and workflow...! It suits You to go handheld, to snap the moment.
But then again: You have trained composition a lot...! It shows.
This camera is becoming a favorite...!
Love these videos where I feel so relaxed watching it. Lake District is a joy. At 2-3 mins in, you appear like you’re standing in a painting. Also while I’m not fussed about the camera, you made it interesting just shooting with it rather than machine gunning specs out.
Thanks Terry - I am not a specs person. Whilst I do care what they can do most important to me is getting out and shooting.
Well, as many people already said - great start of a Sunday. Great work, effort, pictures. Calm music, your voice and the way you are talking, beautiful pictures... It just works. Thank You!
Thanks so much
Nice Nigel !! The drone footage was epic as well !!!
If you need to print really big with a "lower" MP camera then there is always the option of shooting panoramas. The resulting image will have a lot of MPs.
Yes - definitely
Depends how rushed you are to get the shot and some scenes are harder to stitch than others. It's an option sure but I think around 45MP is the sweet spot for file size v printing v cropping. I'll have to wait a few years for the R5 to drop in price lol.
@@SteveP_2426 Good points, Steve! I'd imagine the Nikon Z7 would fit that requirement quite nicely.
@@stevelink21 Yes & Canon R5 and Sony A7Riii and possibly some others but those are the main ones I can think of. As I shhot Canon the R5 is my aim BUT not for a couple of years at least as it needs to drop in price for me to justify. At least now all the main manufacturers have a camera in that range so as consumers, whatever our shooting preferences, we are catered for.
Keep a crop sensor camera for when you need croppability. Narrower field of view plus very tight pixel pitch. Taking a 24MP APS-C as an example you would need a 54MP FF camera to get the same croppability
Superb review I've enjoyed every second. Nice to see that Nikon building up a great line of mirrorless cameras and lenses. The z50 has an amazing success here where I live and I think the z5 will earn the same. Dual sd' s are a huge plus!
Amazing drone shots!
Those last shots in the morning we're just perfect.
Beautiful video, so nice to see your passion for photography. Certainly can learn a lot from you, thank you
You make compositions look so easy your use of foreground blow me away.
Thanks Ted
Thanks
Love that first Swan picture, thx for such a cool video.
Super nice photos. I was searching around Z5 reviews and CZcams brought me here. Luckily I didn't miss it:) Thank you Nigel.
Delightful video. Beautiful landscape shots. Really showcases the Nikon Z5. It proves the point that it is not the camera, it is the photographer behind the camera. Thanks for a great video.
Seems like you’d be hard pressed to get a bad photo of the lake on this vlog Nigel.
Several fantastic photos with the boat shed across the water.
Definitely finished on a real high with that golden light on the lake, fabulous indeed.
Thanks for sharing again Nigel.
I think you did a great job of doing a nice video shooting information for the non Nikon shooters out here but also sprinkled in enough great information for the people at Nikon to get benefit too. Love the images you recorded.
Yes, so good to see someone using the camera
Pure art that really elevated my soul ♥️
Amazing ~ fantastic ~ Always the best. Thanks to the swan for doing such a good job posing!
Great video Nigel
Love the image at 3.03, The desaturated colours really work well here.
Photos from the last scene were amazing, especially the first one with the blue tones/reflections/two birds!
Beautiful place, amazing views
Just beautiful photos and presentation
Stunning video, mate. Very painterly. Bravo.
That last print looks AMAZING
The strange thing about this video is, you didn't convince me to buy the Z5. You convinced me to just go out there and shoot with whatever gear I already own. (Olympus EM5 Mark II) thanks for the wonderful video, Nigel!
I love this type of camera review videos. Less about specs, more about actually using the d@mn thing. 100% fantastic.
Great video and amazing photos as always!
Beautiful images, Nigel. Stunning scenery! I just recently got the Z6 + Z 50mm f1.8 S. Still waiting for the Z 24-200mm f4-6.3 to arrive. The camera is superb for my usage (landscapes and video), the build quality, ergonomics and handling are all top notch. Also, the weather sealing is supposed to be excellent. I won't hesitate to take this camera outside when the autumn rain starts.
The video is so relaxing to watch
Glad I found you! Your uncomplicated style is very nice to look at. No fuss, no stupid acting. You, just enjoying your landscape, your trip. Enthousiast about light, a swan, some misty morning. That's all about photography!
(sorry for my bad english :-) )
Nigel once again I feel I have to thank you for an incredible video, you are such an inspiration , loved this one I need some free time to get out with my camera
Great group of images, especially love the waterfall and river shots. The panorama are also ggorgepus.
Thank you Nigel. Great vid as always. Helps me a lot as I look to get into mirrorless.
Amazing place and shots.
Beautiful video quality and images. Incredible vista at 11:48. This is a world-class tourism advertisement in addition to a camera guide!
A photography-youtuber told me that I'm stupid buying a camera just because it has IBIS (X-T3 vs X-H1) but it is such an advantage when you shoot primarly handheld (hiking). Would never buy a camera without IBIS anymore, helps so much in my photography ...
Your in the field videos are always fantastic! Lake District looks beautiful ...
Quite a while ago when I was checking out the Z6, I went into the shop and was told by the sales assistant that it had "IBS" so I said to him "My mum had that", he looked at me as if I was mad then he realised his mistake and burst out laughing.
what is the cheapest camera you recommend for landscape photography?
@@ramg8965 Being a Nikon user all my life I would say possibly the Nikon D7200. There is a guy on CZcams that uses D7200 and his images are well worth a look. Search for this video......Five reasons why you SHOULD buy the Nikon D7200 in 2020
@@martinbootneck6535 even their D7200's ad on Thailand looks amazing, lol. But, I don't know if Nikon has a cheap lens like canon 10-18mm for their apsc.
@@Durio_zibethinus I dont know what video you watched, as the guy is in the UK.
Amazing~! Thank you for sharing these phenomenal experiments and pictures. Z5 will be my first camera.
The z series cameras are above my ability and my budget, but clearly have shown what a wonderful tool it is. Thank you for yet another stunning video.
One thing I appreciate about having more megapixels that goes beyond the size of the prints I'm printing is the ability to crop further into the scene. This gives me more compositional options for a given lens, and also allows me to lighten my load by omitting a longer focal length lens I might otherwise need to take to get high quality images.
Longer lens compresses the scene more. So you can't get the same image by just cropping further in as you'd get with naturally long focal length.
D700 12mp - more than enough.
@SwitchRich Absolutely!. There's no point having the megapixels if your lens is not up to it. But if your lens is up to it, then more room to crop is an advantage of more megapixels over and above the size of the prints you are producing.
@ As Mads Peter Iversen has pointed out: “A telezoom lens does not compress the world whatsoever and it doesn’t make distant objects look bigger. On the most basic level it crops your field of view.” As best I can determine and assuming you don't move, the only difference between cropping and zooming is that zooming narrows the depth of focus for a given angle of view and focus point, whilst cropping (obviously) preserves the depth of field of the shorter focal length.
@@AmorLucisPhotography @SwitchRich Oh I see what you guys mean. Shooting the same frame from the same spot makes no difference other that the depth of field and pixel loss. Moving and framing the object to match it to shorter focal length brings the background closer and compresses it. Two very different things that I got mixed up. Thanks for helping me understand that better.
Some of the best dope shots and drone footage I've ever seen, really jealous of you . With someday I could visit there
Nice work really enjoyed thank you
Amazing video! 😎
Love the shots of the swans! 🦢💚
Stunning location and great photos! The Z5 plus kit lens looks like a great entry level combo!
great video again! You just gave me the right reason why i should buy this camera. Thanks!
The last photograph is so nice that it reminds me of one of the greatest Chinese old black and white picture.
Some great light there 👍🏼
I never print huge but i clearly see the difference a 42mp camera makes each time i need to crop!
Coming from the A7RIV I specifically bought the Z5. Not a budget issue obviously. I noticed with my RIV I got lazy and would always use cropping at home to get the exact composition I want. (No matter how many MPs, cropping enlarges noise, reduces perceived detail). Bought a lower MP, basic camera to help force myself to get it right in camera. With that said will be getting the z7ii eventually or z8/z9 but this experiment made me better, also made me realize I don't use 90% of the features on "pro" cameras.
@@robbie154 I don't consider geting the composition right in camera a must. It's good there's camera choices for everyone
this was fantastic, thank you!
Wow! It must feel awesome to have Nikon send you such a great camera to play with! Great stuff!
What a fabulous video 👍
Nice job and lovely images. 🙏👏
