It's ridiculous we still having this problem in 2022. Phones can record videos in 8K but we can only send videos in 240p. We should be able to send 720p videos by now

@@12bakd75 We're talking about being able to send HQ files, not thr OS or updates. I have a 13 pro max and a s22 ultra and prefer the s22. Thr fact of the matter is ios doesn't care to help its customers do these type of things with any other users but their own. Apple restricts its customers and Apple users blame everyone but Apple. As an Apple user it pisses me off that I can't send a nice video of my kids to my parents. That's why I have both phones.
@@12bakd75 Bro, you're saying the same thing. I know android is behind in the messaging department. I know there's a ton of companies. But let's say android came out with a messaging service as good as Imessage 2 year's ago. Things would be the same on the ios side. It would still be very difficult to send a HQ video to an android phone. I understand that all the different phone manufacturers is what slows things down on the android side. I know Apple makes its own hardware, software, and chips. That's what makes the phone great. But it could be so much better. Unfortunately Apple restricts the phones. I tell my parents to get an iPhone because it's a simple to use phone for people that just want to use a phone without say customization. Majority of iPhone users don't even know that there's settings to make their videos 4k. I usually end up switching the quality for them because they ask me why my videos and pictures are so much better then their's. They just know they have a iPhone and that's all that matters to the average consumer. And even then iPhone uses tell me to use my phone for pictures and send it to them. My issue is Apple could be much much better, but choose not to.

Apple doesn't give you any when they easly could do link sharing or something of that nature instead of useing a 3rd party app. That's the point.
Yeah I've figured these work arounds out. It's my iphone friends who haven't. It's annoying having to ask friends or family to send their video another way and even more annoying when they reply that I just need to get an iPhone. This is literally the only thing I hate about my Samsung phones. I have an iPhone for work and I would never buy one. I hate nearly everything about it. If Samsung and iPhone would just fix this one detail, and allow them to fully communicate with each other, I would have the perfect phone imo.
My friends started a group chat and literally got mad at me because my button was a different color and when I replieseveryone got it. They told me to get an iPhone. I was like dude it'd not s big deal. Then DONT INVITE ME IN GROUP CHATS lol

My Galaxy S22 won't even send a 12 second video saying needs to be trimmed. My much cheaper Moto G Stylus 2023 and Redmi Note 12 will send the video without any issues using the same app, Google Messages.🤷🏼♂️
My videos are blurry whether I send it to iPhone or Android. I have a galaxy s21.
Thanks for the different ways to "fix" the issue. But it doesn't fix the issue. It'd too much of a hassle to have to use an extra app for go through so many steps.

Yes this is ridiculous with today's prices on Flagship phones and we're still sending messages using old MMS services this is outrageous and then we getting all this 5G services for what so we can use apps and play games what about standard messages videos audio what's the point of putting a 8K resolution camera on a flagship phone where you can't even share that experience as you see it it's crazy and I'm spending $1700 on the Z Fold so i can end up sending pixalated videos smfh I'm going back to bed!

I been saying this for the longest sad part is the you have to download apps to be able to send good quality videos and pics apps like whatsapp,dropbox,telegram,signal etc
I use "Nearby Share" with my other friends who have Galaxy Devices. We all are content creators so we have a knack for recording videos so we like the highest quality videos. It's fairly fast and it's usually quicker than having to do those other methods for the most part.
Yes its nice if you all have Galaxy phones but sadly not a solution for texting an iPhone using friend

You should use 'Quick Share' with other Galaxy devices. It's much faster than 'Nearby Share'.

Hey Jeff, ran across your video after a Google search for something unrelated lol. Just wanted to let you know that WhatsApp definitely does compress videos when sending. I use it to send videos from my Samsung to iPhones and it's definitely better than MMS but not full HD quality.

You can do "quick share" and create a link to your video/photos in full quality! But some people wont care to click a link to receive media... But that's the easiest way to share full quality.
I need a general messaging app that this will work. I don't even care if it sends a low quality? Galaxy s24 Ultra with Samsung messages would let me send a low quality video to somebody. I switched to Google messages and then it either let you send a message via a link or it could send a low quality
I had to do a Samsung phone repair and send my phone in and I did a factory restore after I backed up everything. When I got my phone back and restored everything and went into Google messages now it's not even giving me the option to send a video link or sending a low quality video. It just straight up tells me that my file is too large and I can only send two seconds.
How do I get that back so that I can just send a low quality video?
Cuz all those other apps are not texting apps it's just sends messages over data and for people that I don't have connected on messenger, telegram, or Whatsapp I want to be able to send them a video clip.

The problem with my iPhone snobs is they refuse to open a link of a video from Google Messages. They refuse to go out of imessage to watch a video.
I'm late to the party. But im curious. Why does my S20 ultra receive perfect video from the S23. But when I send a video it's grainy/Blurry
I def use all of these work arounds but note, they will solve the "file size" issue, NOT the resolution issue. The resolution will not make it to the other party as you see it on your device.
You can also do this(what you were explaining about google photos)with a Sansung phone, by using quick share

Jeff, why does my Samsung S22 Ultra keep giving me the message that it cannot send a video larger than 105mb?
When sending hi res images to an iphone I just use the Samsung S21 gallery to send them a link so they can watch the uncompressed version. Better than trying to get everyone using the same app, although not a perfect solution. Real problem is there is no incentive for Apple to join any new standard as they control their eco system and if we don't like it we can get an iphone - ain't happening.
Samsung is a great phone but you’re right, we shouldn’t have to do all these steps to solve one simple issue, which is why I HAVE TO use Apple moreso than I want to use Apple

Indeed! The main challenge of course is getting your friends to use a platform that has the least compression. At the end of the day a messenger service is only as useful as where the people are

Basically, what he's saying is something I've known for a while Apple refuses to work with any other companies and makes it really hard to buy anything but Apple. That is precisely why I will never buy Apple anything.

Ok, I have been having this issue when I try to send videos and i have tried using the links. When I send the link for the video via Samsung gallery share when the person receives it on their phone of I send the link to myself the video does not play...not sure why..does it have to be downloaded to play? So this led me to google photos to do the share as you did and that worked fine but there is no way to expire the link that I saw and keep it from being fwd to others so I..... didn't like that. Then I tried to use OneDrive and share from my photo backups which don't seem to be in an easy-to-find order......if I share from onedrive there is the ability to expire the link but if i tell it to share from device then I don't get that option..
So I guess the main question is...with the easiest solution being sending from Samsung gallery...do you have any idea why the video link does not work when the person tries to play it or am I missing something? Thanks.

To change the subject. In google messages, how do you turn off in app notifications. If I'm messaging back and forth while the app is open I get notifications sounds everything the other person responds. Is there a way to turn that off?

Can you use Google Drive to do the same thing? And if you're on an Android phone sending it to an iPhone person do they have to have Google Drive to download it as a link?
Next question can you set up an account with CZcams and upload your video there and then specify it to a link and share that in a message to somebody on an Android or iPhone? And is it free to do that with CZcams?
Sure you can do those things. But the advantage of Google Photos is the person doesn't need the app on their iPhone to view the video at the link

WhatsApp compresses videos resulting in loss of quality. I don't know why you said otherwise. There's an option to send photos in 'Best Quality' but not videos.

Not nearly as much as MMS you probably haven't ever used MMS given you aren't in the US. It's much better in whatsapp
I noticed if you go to your gallery and tap and hold hit share video then share to open in Google messages. It doesn't eat up the quality

This is wrong. If you try and send 8k video through google photos link it only downloads it as 1080 video file. Please don't share a fix that doesn't work.
This wholw thing is really the deal breaker for me. Got my s24 ultra after years with iphone. The imessage service is amazing because you never need to worry about this type of stuff. Having a 2 year old with a lot of grandparents means im sending tons of videos and photos, but if they all look like crap whats the point? Suddenly everyone is complaining they can't even make out what my son is saying or doing in videos i send them. Creating a google photos link is a good idea but takea a lot of extra steps and just seems silly. Why can we not just upgrade this 20+ year old ecosystem with mms??

@@jspring86 do you happen to use Gboard as your keyboard? I'm having incredibly frustrating issues with it on my S22U. It is picking up my movements if I hover above the screen, for instance when trying to type by not making contact with the screen. It will close the keyboard and back out every single time I search for a gif in either messages app. It does it at other times as well but I noticed it does it every time searching gifs. I have had to switch to Samsung keyboard which I hate. Also am not a swype kinda guy.

Injuat want to know how to send a video longer then 10 seconds via text, bc inhave videos I need to send to my family and most of them do NOT do Facebook. So I need to be able to send at least 1min 30 second videos through text and right now I can send 2 seconds. And my cache IS clear.

I would argue that my galaxy s20 UW had no problem sending non blurry 240p (or lower) videos via mms. It down converted them and would only allow me a certain amount of length... but most 5-15 second videos went through ok.
ON my galaxy s22 ultra, not so much. Like you say, it will down convert the videos way below 240p quality and I do not know the real reason and you spent almost 7 minutes stating you didn't know either

I already use Messenger by Google because it's automatically on my phone. I trimmed a 2 min video to 31 secs & sent it to another android user & the video was still distort & blurry. Is there another app I can use?
