The top end of the putee should face backward, not end on the shin, else it will get caught if you walk through plants or bushes. I have worn these in the 1970's as part of a British army uniform, but at that time we did not wrap up the shin, just went round the ankle. You need to judge where to start the putee to get the end in the right place, facing backward, so your right leg is wound clockwise and your left anti clockwise. The putee is made of wool, which helps it grip itself, but the end tape is cotton. Lastly, they were quite comfortable, kept stones out of my boots & generally protected my ankles .
@Laxman Tiwari 🇷🇺 To provide support to the ankle and to keep dust and mud out of the boot. It is basically a replacement for tall leather boots. Instead of having boots that go half way up the leg, you can have boots that end at the ankle, and use puttees to cover the rest of the distance.
great video, wish you used some reproduction putees, or a longer tensor bandage or even boxing hand wraps which are basically putee's since theyre long and have a strip to tie them with, also since tensor bandages are elastic you could wrap them a bit snugger to get a nicer fit for the video, cheers!

@Laxman Tiwari 🇷🇺 their purpose is to keep out dirt, mud and water. So you avoid getting trench foot.

we need to bring back the puttees for general everyday wear for chaps! (not cowboy chaps though!).
I wear a kilt daily and thought of puttees to avoid ticks.

Looking at puttees for use with kilts, won't wear hose but will bandage my legs up haha!
if youre cool you flip the wrap when you get to the shin
