Think you've heard it ALL when it comes to the New GR Corolla? Well you are wrong! Everyone regurgitates the same old facts. Watch my video and learn something new!
@@HowToHeaven Hi! I wonder if you experienced the same issue as my car. Each time I restart the car, my instrument cluster would reset. Is there a way to memorize my preferred display?
@@michaelxie4563 Not that I am aware of, although you can configure it as a setting on your modes (Sport/normal/eco). The Circuit will have Matte finish on the front. Really makes no sense, half the car is matte half is gloss. Toyota should let the owners select the finish, but they dictate everything these days! You get what you get!
I don't know if I'm the only one that would prefer a spare tire/jack vs a fix a flat. Might be impossible with the rear differential and battery taking up space in the hatch area. If anyone has a cure let me know. I wouldn't have said no to an armrest for storage. Yes, these are very minor issues on a great car. I thought the brake dust might be something because it was new, nope at least at 400 miles. My brother has a '03 Z06, same size front brakes as the GR. I didn't get the first aid kit. Was it part of the performance package or did one of the service guys need one? Enjoyed the video.
Mine came with the emergency first aid kit. I believe it's standard. I am going to post part 2 of the XSE Corolla HB and the GR Corolla comparison soon which will go into detail on the differences in the body. The XSE has the Spare so I will show any differences in bracing. Thanks for watching!
@@erikswanson7539 Thankfully Toyota did NOT use Runflats on the GRC, they just eliminated the Spare and included a compressor and fix a flat. Clutch and no gas happens on all cars depending on what the idle is set at. You can do it on most sporty cars. That’s usually the best way to teach someone how to drive clutch. If they can get it moving without gas with just the clutch, it teaches them how it feels for the clutch to grab.
Hi! I've watched almost all your videos. Want you to know that found a good number of tips for the GR Corolla. The one that I appreciate the most is the "Tesa tape" from Amazon that you used on the installation of the door lights. I've been waiting for my GR Corolla "Circuit Edition" since April 2022. I'm just thinking that maybe "The Capitan" of the ship got lost and can not find the California Coast!
Well it does have vvt and toyota has been using oil control valves since the 90's for their vvt control. But what is new here is the intake cam gear has 70° of timing control. Thanks for the other cool info
yes, but if you go to my channel, HowToHeaven and watch my other videos, I have two videos on how to install that factory rear spoiler. I have a video where I installed two spoilers on a pair of 2021 Toyota Hatchbacks and I also did one on the 2023 GR Corolla! Thanks for watching!
Two things I found out reading the manual. The key fob has a low power mode and more importantly, it has an option to roll all windows down feature. (It says see dealer for feature)
Can you tell me what the different drive adjustments do? From what I understand the shocks are not adjustable. When use sport or the other choices, what happens 10:20
The different drive adjustments, send more power to which ever wheels you select. 60 front/ 40 back wheels or 50/50 or 70 front/30 rear for drift mode. The shocks are NOT adjustable, you're correct. Sport/normal/eco modes change shift point...Sport keeps you in each gear longer to make use of the power band, eco upshifts sooner revving your engine less and saving gas. You can program the modes to change the dash display a limited amount.
Hello. The exhaust is hollow and triple exit in order to reduce exhaust backpressure. Of course for best response and for optimal tuning in a turbocharged setup, no exhaust at all would be best, but the GR Corolla was developed properly I think. To me it drove like a software-controlled rally car. I would love to see an aftermarket rear clutch-pack cooler as I imagine that temperature is monitored and cut when ECU needs. You know, also wish it was like affordable to enthusiasts. :(

I'm actually surprised as our 2022 Corolla XSE Hatch Manual does not. Are you sure it's not hill start assist that you are thinking of? So when you let the clutch out, your car revs so you won't stall? Thanks for watching.
@HowToHeaven You are adding to the misinformation out there. Aluminum hood and plastic hatch (composite actually) are standard on the base Hatchbacks from SE-XSE. To help with brake dust, coat the wheels in ceramic, they will rinse off with pressure washer "it can be helped". GR Centre exhaust does utilize the glass-packed muffler, but the design is "straight through" where only flanking sound waves reducing rasp - the outers are double circulation within the glass-pack to reduce further the drone; Lock feature for the hatch and the clutch-out feature (part of hill assist) IS same on base model Hatchbacks - at least in Canada. There is VVTI it is just not electronically controlled like late model Toyota, but uses oil solenoids instead; fact it is on both intake and exhaust cams which IS unique to only a few of Toyota's best performance engines.
Actually, your observations may be due to being in Canada, and you are offering misinformation here in the U.S. We have owned 2, 2021 hatchback SE models, one had the aluminum hood. Probably a preproduction one. We own a 2022 hatchback XSE also a steel hood, and I know all US spec GRs have the aluminum hood, including our 2023. If you look into the muffler on our US spec GR, you can clearly see to the sides and it is hollow. Once again maybe a Canadian difference. The GR definetly will rev when the clutch is let out and our XSE and our SEs don't. I was referring to electronic VVTI, sorry for the confusion.
You can try, but the GR actually revs the engine to help, I don't know of any other car that does that. If you let the clutch out slow enough in any manual, you may be able to keep it from stalling, but the GR gently revs so you don't!
@Gran Tree Mo If you let the clutch out completely it will NOT stall, if you pop the clutch of course it will. Our 2022 Corolla hatchback will NOT allow you to let the clutch off completely and will stall in almost every case, unless you are on a hill or let it out super super slowly on flat ground. The GR can go up my inclined driveway, without stalling!
